Sony only annouced the problem after game reviewers/ tried and identified the problem days before launch. So you got two things you can believe:

1. The tried to decieve the public
2. They honestly didnt know

either way i think anyone buying a ps3 should what for the v.02 when most of the bugs have been ironed out. ( Or atleast ff13 drops!)

And another thing, never listen to spokesmen from any company always check what idependants are saying.

i couldnt care less about the backwards compatibility issues...i rarely play ps1 games on my ps2. have always had trouble reading the majority of them anyway so always kept the ps1 handy if i ever wanted to spark up a ps1 title

i already have a ps1 and ps2...not buying it for that. as long as it plays ps3 games i am good to go.
