I was wondering what people thought about The Nation Of Islam. Have any of you ever been in the Nation? Studied the Nation and the beliefs of the Nation? Knew someone that was in the Nation? Have you ever ate a bean pie? LOL Naw, on the real, what are your feelings on the Nation of Islam?

I don't like bean pies and love pork.

I've been to Saviors Day before.

Very close friend of mine is in the NOI.

Min. Farrakhan if nothing else should be studied for his power as a charismatic leader and fantastic public speaker.

When it comes to fundamentals though I don’t see eye to eye with the NOI, that tends to happen to atheistic communists though.

Judaism, Christianity, Rastafarianism, Black nationalist Islam = slave religions

Religions started as a defense against slavery/oppression.
How many religions do you know started out of blissful and happy surroundings? Better yet, when have people NOT been oppressed? (Can't include people who were oppressors themselves)

The masses have always been oppressed...

Me I don't know that much about alot of religions but I know that a slave religion encourages you to view the world from the perspective of a slave. This makes you easy to manipulate. As far as the question of when have people not been oppressed Id say when they have stood up for themselves.

Touche.

And thank you for explaining, I see what you meant by slave religion now and it wasn't exactly what I thought you had meant...

i think the NOI served a good purpose in black america and was needed at that time.
the organization and loyalty inspired a lot of people..farrakhan is good at what he does, which is manipulate humans.

but on another note, do you consider the NOI "real" muslims...?

Explain further please Sir. The perspective of a slave, and what would that perspective be? How does the religion itself make you a slave if there is no compulsion in religion. We are all given free will, to either accept or reject whatever is put in front of us. Why do you view it as slave mentality/religion?

California Bear- Are you sure about that statement. Min. Farrakhan was quoated as to Malcolm X's hypocrasy in saying, (and I'm paraphrasing) "A man like that is worthy of DEATH" Thats where most people cut that off at, BUT if you do your research that same quoate was longer, saying, "but that is in the hands of Allah (GOD)" Most detractors cut it off at the word death, which in turn has people running around saying that Min. Farrakhan created the atmosphere which led to the death of Malcolm X. Can you say Cointelpro?

Synical Dj- Define a real Muslim. Muslim simply means one that submits his/her entire will to GOD. Just because someone is Arabic, and say they are a Muslim, does it mean they are? I know alot of Arabic Muslims who own Liqour stores in the inner citys, selling beer, wine, pork to people, and they claim they are muslims. they come sell it to the oppressed in this country (Blacks, Latinos, Poor whites) when they KNOW in thier own country they would be killed for such a grievous offense. Accompany your girlfriend to one of the Nations' Temple, and have her show you that they are not real Muslims. Sit down and speak with whatever Minister is in your city, and tell her to bring that same arguement. Min. Farrakhan has been over to the Arabic countries, speaking the teachings, he is LOVED over there, GOOGLE it

The path of the truely faithful is one of subservence, obedience without question to the will of "god". Thus the true believer is compelled to obey by thier desire to be faithful. Relating to the greater entity as the prototypical master.

Farrakhan is a radical. This is the same guy who said white people will be destroyed by a space ship that comes to save Black people in the near future. I'm literally "blacker" than Farrakhan is and consider his views to be trash, but he is an eloquent speaker, like many N.O.I. members. Self determination and discipline is the only message they have worth listening to.
