I didn't even know that was possible. But it just happened to me. No idea what to do. :ermm: Thought maybe someone on here would have some advice having been through a similar experience or knowing someone.

Help me out.

I guess I can appeal which I am going to do, but I'm just shocked and totally discouraged by this. I need that money.

i Got fired, took them hella long to send me my money, then i got a notice saying that my former employer had filed an appeal to my approval of unemployment, but that their appeal failed, and they lost the appeal because their reason for my termination did not meet the definition of misconduct

"Willful misconduct. Employee was discharged for dishonesty. Honesty is expected of an employee. The employee's actions are determined to be a willful and substantial disregard of the employer's interests. "

I was signed up to take a test for work. A continuing education test that had no effect on my ability to do my job. Not passing would not have kept me from doing as good a job as I was doing nor prevent me from excelling in the future.

I didn't take the test. I didn't think not taking the test would be a big deal. I thought not taking the test was the same as taking a zero and not passing. Not passing was not punished EVER. They said it was a big deal and that I lied. I said I didn't know it was a big deal and would make up the time and pay for the test if needed. So they fired me. Because I was dishonest.

I never went thru that, but I know if they got a legit reason to fire you, then they dont gotta pay for you.

Its different if you get laid off... but fired, means you werent performing your duties.

rictus, dude...you fired yourself.
you didnt do what you were told at a job because you personally disagreed...just cause you felt you didnt have to.

their grounds for termination are valid and just, you fucked up

You can try and appeal but you sealed your fate by not giving a shit and doing what you wanted

i dont mean to sound harsh man, but its your own fault. depending on how long you were there you might want to also leave them off the resume or future application. your reason for termination isnt favorable and would only harm you.....the gap in employment can be explained as "helping a sick relative"

honestly you should learn from this...and turn your stumbling block into a stepping stone.

good luck in the future, this economy is a bitch
