I just picked up the Samsung Moment on Sprint earlier today. I downloaded about 50 apps for that shit. Having plenty of fun with it.

Is it worth the time/effort/risk to root it though? I like the idea of getting some of the base apps off, especially Sprint TV, but at the same time I don't want to risk having it brick and not be able to use my phone in the future.

From what I understand rooting the phone basically lets you install additional games you wouldn't have been able to with the original firmware and conserves your battery life by cutting out a lot of apps that don't necessarily need to be running. I haven't even hit up youtube or any android forums to check it out for myself yet.

Yes you can root the moment but as far as I know you cannot put any custom roms on there yet..basically with root you can remove stock sprint apps like teeter, stock widgets n what not to give you more space on your phone
I had the moment and ended up returning it for the hero
I would of gotten the hero if I were you its much better

If you want the nexus one launcher and you are running 2.1

Look for "Helix Launcher" in the market....it is free and can have up to seven screens. Just hit menu, and configure up to seven screens. I just downloaded and it looks pretty sweet so far.

I’ve heard from both 2.0.1 rooted and nonrooted users as being able to see this in the market. Please let me know if you can’t. If you have a rooted Android 2.0.1 device and can’t see this app, there is a simple hack you can do to make 2.1 apps viewable and then downloadable in the market. *

Most of my information was found in TechBuzz

If you double tap on the screen, it will pull I all seven of your screens!

Verizon posts Android 2.1 upgrade details for Droid
Chatter over the Milestone's impending Android 2.1 update has reached a rolling boil in recent days, but it's actually the Milestone's American cousin that's getting the official coverage today. That's right: Verizon's just posted details on the Droid's upgrade to Google's latest and greatest cut, and you've got the expected host of goodies including the new 3D Gallery app, voice-to-text, news and weather widgets, pinch-to-zoom support, "improved" pattern lock, and -- get this -- live wallpapers, something we'd originally thought Motorola might leave out. It appears to lack the Nexus One's 3D app launcher (which we'd expected), but it's still pure gold for owners. Let us know when you've gotten it, eh?

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Update: Leaked documentation indicates we'll see this start to get rolled out in batches of 250,000 at a time starting on Thursday -- not too long of a wait (unless you're in the very last batch, that is).

^ Wasting your time by doing all that since it is not a hardware issue. I suggest to a wipe on your phone, a full on hard reset. Don't install an antivirus and watch what you are installing. Remember, it's a mini computer and your phone will freeze if you install bad software. Another thing I can recommend is a task killer, although people say they aren't needed I still use mine.

You rockin' the droid? If so are you rooted and have you flashed any roms yet?
Yeah been had it for a minute now. Rooted it and flashed Bugless Beast 0.8 based off ESE53. I was waiting for the Blackdroid to come out when you sent me that link. How is everything running on yours now? Any bugs
