Affirmative Action is needed...and if i hadn't broken this down a million times already, i'd rehash the reasons

but i definately agree with affirmative action

mcleanhatch...answer me this, has your father, mother, grandfather, brother whatever said the word NIGGER around you?(and no i'm not trying to offend you, it's just a ?)

@mcleanhatch you said:
was that not over 55 years ago when jackie robinson broke the color barrier. are they still restricted from playing?
1.55 years ago isnt that far off. im sure your father is close to that age bracket. 2.no one is implying that they are restricted from playing. what im showing plot is that negroes were RESTRICTED from playing because of race. who is stoping latinos and asians from playing sports? NOT BLACKS. BLACKS DONT MAKE THE EXECUTIVE DESCISIONS. WHO IS DISCRIMINATING AGAINST ASIANS AND LATINOS?
no he isnt restricted from playing baseball. but i would call him black. i mean ya he has a spanish name and he speaks spanish but he is black.
OK IF YOU SAY SO. IM SURE IF YOU ASK HIM IF HE'S BLACK HE LAUGHS AT YOU. ON WHAT GROUNDS IS HE "BLACK" THE "ONE DROP" RULE? OR BECAUSE OF HIS HERITAGE? SINCE YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT THE GUY WHAT IS HIS HERITAGE? IS HIS PRIMARY RACIAL BACKGROUND BLACK OR LATIN/HISPANIC?
alote of them are from the dominican republic, PR, Venezuela,, and Cuba. and again just like sammy sosa alote of them spwak spanish and have spanish surnames but they are black.
SEE THE ABOVE.
very few non-black hispanics like..... jose canseco, raphael palmiero, nomar garciaparra
ARE BLACKS IN A POSITION TO STOP NON BLACK HISPANICS FROM PLAYING BASEBALL?

HERE ARE STATEMENTS MADE BY PLOT:
Huh
Blacks take over professional sports and dont offer their position to allow other minorties to participate.
ARE BLACKS IN A POSITION TO STOP MINORITIES FROM PLAYING SPORTS?
Where are the asians? Oh we do have one and he's not even from this country so go figure. Just because a certain race isn't naturally tall doesnt mean they should be discriminated against.
ARE BLACKS IN A POSITION TO STOP MINORITIES FROM PLAYING SPORTS?
probly about 10
ARE BLACKS RESPONSIBLE FOR ONLY TEN ASIANS PLAYING? IF SO HOW?
alote of latinos always played in MLB so long as they werent black latinos they were playing. as for the asians i dont know of any playing in the pros until recently
OK NOW APPLY WHAT *YOU* JUST SAID TO WHAT *PLOT* SAID.
who cares!!!
I LOVE HOW YOU AVOID QUESTIONS. WHO CARES? PLOT SAID THAT BLACKS TAKE OVER POSITIONS IN SPORTS AND DONT ALLOW OTHER MINORITIES TO PLAY. THAT THEY DONT OFFER UP POSITIONS.

ONCE AGAIN:
who is getting rich from these black players?
what color are the majority of the owners and coaches?

IF HE ANSWERS *WHITE* OR *JEWISH* THAT RENDERS HIS STATEMENT (Blacks take over professional sports and dont offer their position to allow other minorties to participate.) ILLOGICAL,FALSE, NULL AND VOID.......

:h:

PS ARE YOU HIS BITCH?????

nope, dont want to, dont care to.

affirmative discrimination is DISCRIMINATION plain and simple and it is wrong.

how would black people feel if college basketball, football, track, and all other sports had to adhere by Affirmative Discrimination on campuses. to the extent that 70% of athletes have to be white, 12% Hispanic, and 12% black, with a few others????

answer: they wouldnt because it is wrong to DISCRIMINATE PERIOD!
I thought we went over this awhile ago? Trying to compare the lackof whites in sports to Affirmative Action doesn't work. Do you realize that you are trying to compare basketball to 350 years of slavery and jim crow law. Whites have an equal opportunity to be a starter in the NBA, MLB, or NFL. We can see this when we go to training camps, preseasons and mini camps. If you are the shit, you are the shit. This wasn't true during the Jim Crow Law or Slavery days. During those days Blacks WERE FORBIDDEN BY LAW to have equal opportunity in this country. And this bullshit has set black people back and can be attributed to problems in the black community. Your comparisons suck and doesn't work.....Again Ignorance seem to be a common trait when discussions involve African American history. People just don't seem to understand the impact of slavery, jim crow law on the African people...

Secondly if Whites were set back 350 years in sports because of laws, or flat out racism, there is not doubt that Affirmative Action is needed to push them back up. However sports and jobs are a little different in comparisons but the concept is correct. I would be all for it....

YOU CAN'T USE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION WITHOUT HAVING A JUST REASON. A JUST REASON IS A LAW LIKE THE JIM CROW LAW OR SLAVERY THAT HAS SETS BACK BLACKS FROM PROGRESSING, THESE ACTIONS HAVE AFFECTED THE PRESENT. Stripping blacks from basketball without a just reason does not work. It has to be somewhere close to Jim Crow Law or Slavery, something purposely done to set blacks back.

i am not talking about MLB, NBA, or NFL. i am talking about college sports. the above organization are not government run or funded. so they can do whatever they want. what i am saying is if you are going to discriminate against certain people in colleges based on intelligence, then you should also discriminate against the other on sports

Have you forgotten that the Jim Crow Law seperated blacks from white schools? Is college basketball seperating whites from black athletes? NO!! People of all color are able to try out, whether you make it is not a lock.....

So again your comparisons does not work...

and people of all colors try out for college to get an education yet, some are rejected because they are white or asian, while other less qualified minorities get accepted simply because they are a minority.

all i am saying is that if Affirmative discrimination is going to be used in colleges it should be used straight across in all thing academics and sports alike.

is it fair for people who want to try out for the college team that because they are mexican (most of which dont grow past 5'8 if that) or asian (even shorter). or white (who supposedly cant jump).

i mean apply affirmative discrimination to all facets of college life. not just a select few.

Or gee, maybe it DOES make sense after all that the most qualified people are chosen first

Both of your arguments are F L A W E D

Most professional sports are like Darwins Natural Selection Theory, only the best will survive. There aren't many black ball players under 5'10" in the NBA, only a few small NBA players are able to excell in areas to make up of there short comings. Have you ever heard of Earl Boykins? I don't know how tall he is but I'm assuming he's somewhere in the 5'6-5'7" range and he's a gamer. There are a lot of black ball players his size that try out for high school, college, or NBA and do not make it. However a player like Mugsy was able to make up for his short comings and was a starter for awhile in the NBA. Same could be said about anyone of any races. You made a coment about Asian people being short, than what about Yao Ming? Yao Ming was the hottest thing in last years NBA draft. If his race is discriminated against than why was he a HOT commodity last season? Well the truth was that his race wasn't a factor, like race wasn't a factor for my 5'4" black friend that didn't make the JC B-Ball team at my school. It came down to size and what Yao BRINGS to the team, my friend didn't bring much and Yao Ming brings a lot to the NBA. Like I said if you can't make up for your shortcomings than you won't make it in the league. It doesn't matter if your 7'7" or 5'1"....

If a SHORT Latino, Asian, Caucasian, or African player wants to make it in the NBA they are going to have to bring something to the table that impress the coaches. If you have "it" in professional sports, playing time will be there for you...
