AFRICAN MEXICANS

Thoughts on what? African-Mexicans? I have no real big thoughts thoughts. Big under represented group in Mexico. The anglo's forgot about them but the Mexican government hasn't tried to exterminate them. Most Mexican's supposedly have some sort of African blood in them, but then again most Mexican's are supposed to have some Euro blood in them. I don't believe either, the numbers don't match up.
As far as the Olmec's there is not enough, if any, evidence that they are figures of Africans who came to the America's. I think that they aren't African's I think that they're depicting El Nagual or a "were-jaguar."

shit if you want to break it down like that mexicans are arab too shit so are italians. the arabs took over spain and italy back in the day and clearly from their archticture and other cultural things and even the looks of some people you could tell they got it in em. i've met a gang of mexicans with arabic last names too and they got the camel hump nose to go along wit it. i mean if you break it down everybody got a lil bit of everybody in em. that was some coo shit to read though.

I can think of two things:
1. The Olmce's predate the Mende civilization by around 2 thousand years. So even if this theory had some validity who is to say the Olmecs didn't influence the West Africans? And even if they did influence the Mende people or the Mende the Olmecs how would this be possible if the Olmecs were long and gone by the time the Mende came into the picture?
2. You'd have to prove that either civilization could make cross atlantic voyages. I don't think anyone's been able to prove this regardless of claims on the internet.
MesoAmericans have large lips and short noses. Mayans, Zapotecs, Toltecs, and the Mixtec look pretty close to the hard carvings.

To me it's kind of obvious that there are african roots in some Mexicans and I had done some reading before similar to what you posted. It is very interesting and I wish that it was discussed more amongst ourselves there is quite a bit of racism towards Africans that I see and I'm sure this would make people think twice.

I tend to believe that there just isn't enough hard evidence to support an argument that the Olmecs were of African descent. The influence is present in the sculptures and writing, yet some scholars theorize that there was contact/trade/travel between ancient civilizations. But again, its theory supported by coincidence (not to say that it isnt convincing).
