Reason is one of the best tools for sampling...you can put anything in it, and you're not breakin' bread for something like an MPC. I don't get why people talk down on it. Again, the product is only as good as the person using it.

To answer your question Reid, I have no idea. But now I'm curious, 'cause I just copped Pro Tools (which came with Reason) yesterday to add to my collection of sequencing and sampling programs.

im just a lil confused cause i never got to the technical part of it, raher just the whole feel

i just wish i knew more about it so i wouldnt waste so much time trying to find the feel i want

^well i see a use for it but not really for hip hop - maybe for a sample beat like if u had one of them old school soul samples and u wanted to add some percussion that sounded more human. theres a tutorial i downloaded that shows u how to work eveyrhting in reason 4 theres hella shit. i thought if i watched that i might step my game up - but nah a lot of shit in reason is kinda pointless to me including the regroove.

what do you mean by a bunch of different grooves for each instrument? why would you need more than one groove per track? clarify this and i will help you out.

@malki=pointless? you need to speak on what you know boy, which is obviously not too much. the regroove tool is priceless for hip hop production. just the factory soundbank provides more than enough grooves to suit your needs (in the form of rex files) IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IT. if you dont then you'll think shit is "pointless". what a dummy those grooves are the shit. unless youre just happy with a standard robotic quantization.

@l.a. reid go through the rex drum loops and if you find a "feel" or a "groove" you like then highlight that section in the sequencer, right click it then hit "get user groove", it will show up as user group or some shit like that when youre in the regroove edit screen. you can save those grooves and reuse and apply them at will. priceless tool. reason/recycle and fruity loops shits on any hardware piece out there pound for pound dollar for dollar for little reasons like this.

you can use the same, but you can find different grooves that work well together that will really flare up the track. just experiment but most of the time i use the same groove throughout a song with maybe 1 or 2 different ones occasionally. usually on percussion tracks. the other instruments i will usually keep in the same groove. any other questions ask away.

let me start by saying (and i do mean this with the utmost respect) YOURE A FUCKING IDIOT. an mpc is a grossly over priced stripped down version of reason you dumb fuck. what can you do with an mpc i cant do with reason (except 10 times as fast)? how is regroove gay if you dont even know how to use it? lmao!! fucking faggot. just shut up or go kill yourself for being a complete fucking turd. you say you were "givin him the real" when he asked for advice. he wanted to know "how" to use the regroove tool. he didnt ask for a "tool's" opinion on regroove. did i mention youre a fucking idiot?

allright

let me put it this way

mpc is classic, it's a good unique tool, but it takes a while to get things done, and has different uses

reason has everything but mouse clicking is kind of annoying after a while

thanks tho, atleast we know we're all passionate with the tools we work

lol@ the beat maker drama

In all honesty tho, alot of cats talk down on shit that they either can't figure out or for whatever other issue....Personally, I don't use Reason. Maybe I will some day. I've used it at other spots but just haven't incorporated it into my setup yet. But I'm not gonna talk down on it. I won't talk down on FL either. Cause I used to get cats talkin shit back in the day about how I only used an ASR-10....I use more now but the point is, whatever u use doesn't make u better. I've seen cats LITERALLY with $20,000 worth of equipment that sound like garbage and others that use Fruity Loops that sound like a million bucks.
