this award was voted on by fans not the AP. One Game? did you see the game against Chicago when he rushed for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns? He has said that the injury affected his play which was clear. He had a good game against Detroit (116 yards & 2tds) the first week back but he aggravated the injury and wasn't near 100% for the rest of the season. I'm not saying Willis didn't have a good year but Peterson clearly had the better year and deserved it more. 1300 yards is even more impressive because Chester Taylor had 844 yards, Peterson wasn't even the started until after the Chicago game.
Folks, I'm not saying Peterson doesn't deserve the award. I think we all know he would have had the advantage over Patrick Willis no matter what because he is an offensive player. That's really all I'm saying.

It seems people can't make a point for one player without putting the other down. It's cool if you guys don't think Willis deserves this award, but don't act like he didn't do his thing. He deserves to be mentioned and there is an argument to be made. Personally I would have voted for Peterson if I had a vote, I'm just saying I think Willis is just as deserving.

By the way, all these awards (MVP, DROY, OROY, Defensive MVP, etc..) are voted on by the Associated Press, not the fans. Why would Rookie Of The Year be any different? There are 50 AP voters nationwide that vote on these awards. I'm pretty sure the AP votes on this award..

and when AP and Willis "faced off" AP was injured so it's unfair to say willis outplayed em
He did fine the week before.

When he faced the Niners he had what? 14 carries for 3 yeards?? That was his season low, and probably will be his career low. Don't try to blame injury for that shit. In that case Alex Smith only sucked dick this year because he was hurt, not because he's a bad QB. Please.

well then u have not ever played LB. it is very easy to play with a broken hand when it's casted trust me. the only thing it really effects alot is interceptions. AP fucked his knee and still came in with a brace for his team and thats another reason he gets extra points lol. but yeah a hand injury for a LB and a knee injury for a RB is completely different trust me
In high school I played RB and LB. I fucked up my wrist and had to use a cast for 3 games one year.. It's not nearly as easy to tackle as you're trying to make it seem. I don't think you've ever tried it. A leg injury for a running back is more significant, but don't try to act like Peterson broke his leg and continued to do well.

Nevermind, I was wrong. I remember seeing the link on an NFL Network commercial telling the fans to go vote. My bad.. Don't jump on my ass!! LOL

APs leg injury is just as significant as Willis Hand being broken, AP uses his legs, Willis uses his hands.
LOL please tell me you dont believe this nonsense. I see MANY defensive players play just FINE with "clubs" on their hands. See Darryl Tapp. LB's need their legs and even WITH a bad hand, he seemed to tackle JUST fine to me.

With that said, Willis played with a injury which lessened his effectiveness and still beasted fools.
Thats another load of crap.

I think thats what they were trying to say, I woulda picked Lynch Over AP...
And with this statement, you are officially a homer. We all know your biased towards the 9ers, but cmon dude...youre starting to actually BELEIVE all that nonsense.

Hmmm...9er fan...thought Willis should have got it. From the Bay...Lynch is from the Bay. Coincidence?

:ermm:

Please, put the kool-aid down.

Lynch over AP wtf is wrong with Shree?

@Fatal... we're not putting Willis down at all. We're just saying that AP deserved it a little more than Willis because of the record he broke and the year he had as a rookie. But we're not taking anything away from Willis because he is a hog!

Peterson runs behind one of hte top 5 offensive lines in the nfl. splits carries with chester and didnt play every game.

willis on the other hand played every game on a bad niners defense (stat wise) and even played with a broken hand in a cast. when willis went up head to head with peterson in the vikings vs 9er game, peterson only had like 13 yards and willis had 10+ tackles.

offense and name power won this award.
Correction: Peterson rushed 14 times for 3 yards.

I disagree, but to each his own.
