You couldn't hit a 60mph fast ball let alone a 90.
could you catch an alley-oop and dunk it over a defender?

can you catch a slant route over the middle and take the hit from a 200lb safety?

hitting a fastball seems to pale in comparison to other shit.

baseball is a game, not a sport. I dont consider them "athletes". Your telling me Prince Fielder or whatever his name is an athlete? Fuck out of here.

Baseball does take skill, I will give anyone that. But shit, chess takes skill as well.

basketball is a "game" aswell ya know, if you say otherwise you are a moron.

put it this way, you're sitting at home watching the NBA playoffs and you get a call from one of your homies, and they ask what you're doing and you reply.... watching THE GAME. same goes for football aswell..."what ya doin' fool?"....."shit, just watchin' this Bronco's GAME".

every sport is a GAME!

stop hating on baseball because you never had the coordination to play it, or you were scared of the ball as a kid <the main reason why alot of kids dont play baseball growing up.

Baseball is a SPORT just like all the others.

Funny thing is whenever anybody brings up race and baseball, you've got to acknowledge that at the professional level, it is the sport that best resembles the demographics of the areas that play it, by far. Basically, it's the most reflective of America (i.e. 12% of american players are black, 12% of the US is black, about 10% of the american players are latino, about 15% of america is latino, about 70% of the American players are white, about 70% of america is white, etc). But we're so used to groups like african americans being grossly overrepresented in our major sports, that people are freaking out that their numbers are down when they're still proportional to their share in the general population.
well put

I read some of the article and some of the stuff I read was vaild, especially the length of the season its crazy long. And it funny to me how Baseball analysis be on TV saying this team is so bad and they hit rock bottom and its only like the 60th game of the season and its like over a 100 more games to go that by the end of the season that same team they said had no shot wins their division. I dont believe I coud make it through a whole baseball game from start to finish if someone paid me it is just to much down time. (You even see players in the dug out playing games or sleep not paying attention.)

LOL that is the truest shit I ever read right there, I've never seen somebody hate baseball who was actually any good at it (and the scared of the ball as a kid visual fits a lot of these fools).

I think that's a lot higher

and I think that's a little lower.

But I could be wrong.
Could be, the numbers I was citing are from a research project I did with all players who appeared on rosters at any point in 2006, so that was a few years ago. Guys like Yovanni Gallardo and German Duran (both from Fort Worth TX actually) have made their debuts since then.

But just to clarify, I was speaking solely of American players, obviously the game is a hell of a lot less white when you bring in the international guys who now comprise a very big chunk of the major leagues.

Basketball and football are largely bi-racial sports (I know more Latinos are getting into basketball now, mainly from South America not the US, and I also know that Samoans really play the hell out of football), if you just look at the black-white breakdown I think they easily total over 90% of the NBA or NFL.

But baseball, it's far more diverse than either of those sports, but somehow gets an unfair wrap at being a white game, when in reality what those people mean is it just isn't as black a game as football or basketball.

It's interesting a lot of these Cali folks are hating on baseball when it's the major sport California plays the best, by far.

When I did my project back in 2006, California was by far #1 in per capita MLB player production. Of all metro areas in the US over 1 million population, San Diego was off the charts at #1 (25 MLB players per 1 million male population) and Los Angeles was a distant second, but still second at 15 per.

California plays baseball a hell of a lot better than it plays football or basketball, it is definitely deeply ingrained in the culture to accomplish this, but I guess not everybody can be into it.

i think he means baseball is not a sport where all u have to do is know how to walk/RUN to get down 50% of its mechanics. and the athletes on the diamond are very skilled players
what about boxing ? mma ? powerlifting ? olympic lifting ? its a dumb point . speed kills in football but if you cant play you cant play reguardless of athletic ability
