not liking a sport/finding it boring/whatever is fine, but denying the fact that it takes skill is just ignorant.

i find soccer boring and i'll never like it, but i do understand the amount of skill and athleticism required to play and i respect that.

why does it always come down to comparing it to other sports? I get what you're saying but Jacoby Elsbury ran 30 feet and made a diving catch in the game last night, and you won't see a guy in another sport do that just like you won't see Elsbury return a backhand or kick a 50 yard field goal.

I guess I should've actually answered your other post.
how the fuck can you watch baseball? honestly. playing it aint that bad but watching i dont get. all the fucking guys stand there for most the time. shit's hella boring and nothing spectacular can come from it besides a catch or something and thats it. whoever watches baseball and aint a fat white guy at a bar needs to re-evaluate there life lol
I'm not fat but I am a white guy that watches games at bars lol, but I also watch every other game that's on tv at home. I don't really need to see anything spectacular happen to enjoy the game. But then again I was watching games since I was in diapers, so I don't really blame someone for not appreciating a pitcher setting up a hitter with 2 high fast balls and then a changeup in the dirt for a K. Or a hitter taking a junk ball pitcher to the opposite field gap.
If you think it's boring that's fine, I think hockey and soccer are boring, but people still enjoy those and I could care less, ya know?

or they played past little league and actually understand the game
i played untill a knee injury took me out and so did my dad(he coached for 15+ years after ) and we can watch any game(live or tv) and shoot the breeze and talk baseball while watching. dissect the "games within the game" pitches tendancies all that. but we are baseball people so thats why. even if it is boring to some we still enjoy a good game now and then.

Yeah exactly. Some of the best games I have ever watched have been like 1-0 with 5 hits scattered throughout the game when you have 2 pitchers just working the plate.

anybody who thinks baseball is lame is a fag....
Guess I'm a fag then...

Some of you are acting like my opinion on baseball is a personal insult. None of us just slapped your mother. We just don't like a certain sport. No reason to throw a temper tantrum...

Nah its all good. People who think baseball is lame are fags. And I think baseball is lame. That makes me a fag. I don't suck dick or anything. But apparently according to that guy...you don't have to suck dick to be a fag. You just have to think baseball is lame.

He's an interesting demographic case, an urban northeastern African American is one of the least likely demographics to like baseball, however, the Boston metro area is one of the most baseball crazy (fans wise, not players) cities in the world, but it looks like the microgeography won over the larger metro area.

There is somebody from urban Boston in the big leagues, believe it or not, his name is Manny Delcarmen (and he's good).

Funny thing is whenever anybody brings up race and baseball, you've got to acknowledge that at the professional level, it is the sport that best resembles the demographics of the areas that play it, by far. Basically, it's the most reflective of America (i.e. 12% of american players are black, 12% of the US is black, about 10% of the american players are latino, about 15% of america is latino, about 70% of the American players are white, about 70% of america is white, etc). But we're so used to groups like african americans being grossly overrepresented in our major sports, that people are freaking out that their numbers are down when they're still proportional to their share in the general population.

HAHA…are my eyes deceiving me?

On Baseball though.....

I won’t say I 100% agree with the article…but I agree with 95% of it. I do like to watch from time to time during the playoffs…and I do watch the highlights on ESPN.

But shit…for the most part it is guys standing around hoping the guy hits a ball. I mean shit..if a guy has a .300 batting average…that’s considered pretty damn good. And that’s only hitting the ball 30% of the time. Sorry…but that’s failing!

How anyone can watch a 3 hour, 1-0 ball game is beyond me.

the way they pitch the player, baseball is only one hit away to tie/win the game is whats crazy. One location mistake and you can give up the big ball. Players throwing heat.. can you hit a 100+ mph fastball or even manage to see it for that matter?

Baseball is my shit. If i wouldve stuck with it i mightve been in the minors right now or playing ball for like pepperdine or ASU.

Going the Distance
If a quarterback can get nearly knocked unconscious multiple times by 300-pound defensive ends for four full quarters, then why shouldn’t a pitcher have to throw a ball 60 feet for a full nine innings—especially if that pitcher is making millions of dollars a year? Instead he gets pulled before things can go from bad to worse, and fans go nutty when the song they voted for plays over the loudspeakers and their star closer comes out of the bullpen like Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn in Major League. Don’t even get me started on “The Papelbon.”
This might be the dumbest thing I have ever read.
