Sabean Defuses Martinez, Dye Rumors
By Nat Boyle [July 5, 2009 at 10:42am CST]

Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News says Brian Sabean quelled rumors of the Giants interest in Jermaine Dye and Victor Martinez, referring to each as "pie in the sky." Last month it was rumored that the Giants were scouting both.

Baggarly quoted Sabean saying V-Mart would require "a (Madison) Bumgarner-plus type of blockbuster deal. And that's not going to happen because we're not going to trade Bumgarner."

News: The San Jose Mercury News reports that Giants 1B Pablo Sandoval tore most of the skin off his right knee Saturday and was removed in the sixth inning. Sandoval is listed a day-to-day.

Randy Johnson left Sunday's game in the fourth inning with an apparent left shoulder injury.
Johnson apparently hurt the shoulder while batting in the third. He went back out for the fourth, gave up two homers and then committed a throwing error on a comebacker. He came out after the play.

The Giants are currently calling Randy Johnson's shoulder injury a strain.
"I'm going to make this short," Johnson said after the game. "Right now it's a strain and I'm going for an MRI tomorrow. That's all I'm going to say." Jonathan Sanchez could go back into the rotation if Johnson lands on the disabled list, as appears likely. A Madison Bumgarner callup probably isn't coming just yet.

Man, sometimes when I skim through Giants threads, I WONDER if there are really any Giants fans that actually know a thing or two about baseball...at least the GIANTS FOR GOODNESS SAKES LOL...But there are some on this board who actually do

ANYWAYS LOL

The Giants should be going after Freddy Sanchez, I do believe he'll be a good addition to this Team, He's your typical number 2 Hitter...Doesn't have too much power, Doesn't walk too much, but has gap to gap power. I really don't know who they'll trade him for, Maybe J. Sanchez and some Prospect, I'm hoping something like Freddy Lewis and Sanchez..they(The Pirates) traded Nate McClouth, Their best player last year, for nobodies to the Braves. The Pirates I would assume would be selling low, and J. Sanchez if given a good pitching coach can potentially be a great no. 2, at average a 3-4 starter, at worse a mop up man.

Before the Trade deadline, I would like them to call up Kevin Frandsen and Bowker First, BEFORE ANY trade is made to give a slight evaluation...We all saw what Bowker could do, he has power but when exposed he couldn't hit MLB Pitching also take into account that he had to learn 1B while jumping from AA Ball...

So Until the Trade Deadline I'd settle for this Line Up

CF Rowand
LF Winn/Bowker
RF Nate Schierholtz or 3B Pablo
3B Pablo or RF Nate
C Bengie Molasses
1B Ishikawa
SS Renteria
2B Frandsen/Uribe

Now if Frandsen can't do anything before the Deadline go ahead and pull the string for the Freddy Sanchez Trade

New Line up

Rowand, Been Great at Leadoff
Freddy Sanchez, Typical 2 hole hitter
Nate, or Pablo
Pablo, or Nate
Winn
Bengie
Ishi
Renteria
