Let's imagine a near-worst-case and entirely plausible scenario, whereby the Giants lose two of three in L.A. (where the Dodgers are coming off a three-game sweep of Pittsburgh), and Colorado sweeps the Diamondbacks (who have lost five of their past six at home). Come Monday, the Giants could be 5 1/2 games out with 13 to play.

I seriously hope this doesn't play out as predicted. This put the Giants in a horrible spot.
