yeah im a tech fan...and i do think he is a lyrical genious, i agree with dude up top everyone is influenced one way or the other, but i doubt tech even listens to that dudes music, i dont even know why he would be to even notice something like that...
I do....LMAO! I even have Falco on Vinyl.... I am not as old as tech (Im 24 years old, 80's baby) but i am a total 80's fan no matter what music is.

He is was also influenced by Daryl Hall & John Oates - "I Can't Go For That" on "No can do" off of Everready

first off theres a HUGE difference between watchin and hour long show on vh1, which i did happen to watch too...sad to say, but neways theres a huge difference between that and actually downloading all those songs and burning them to a disc and start bumpin it in the car, just because tech puts some of that shit in his music, i highly doubt techs at home listening to falco right now, however i dont listen to any of that music and i still know all the songs, its the generation, my parents and family did at some point, therefore being the influence, tech does listen to all kinds of music, u can see it in his own music, he has a broad spectrum in his music output, but once again i wouldnt say tech would spend much time listening to that shit...lil wayne did that misunderstood song, doubt he listens to any other music from that era...

Me thinks you dont have a clue what your talking about....

but for arguements sake....it would be one thing if there was maybe one reference to an 80's song or even 2.....but this dude puts these references in a lot of his songs......so its probably not a coincidence.....also you gotta think he's what, 36-37 yrs old...?? (sorry fan boys i dont his birthday dont kill me) that would mean that he was in his teens in the 80's.....most of my musical influence comes from musicc i got into as a teenager.....so chances are he was prolly bangin out Falco when it first came out.....and he's an actual fan.....

you lose....

november 8, 71', that means he's 37, close guess tho, and its funny i remember an interview tech did way back and when asked what where some of his BIGGEST musical INFLUENCES for him growing up i dont recall him mentioning falco newhere....hip hop started in the mid 70's and blew up from there into rap....when tech was in school he was writing raps and performing them in front of his peers...i think i win bud sorry you obviously know nothing about tech's upbringing...

Im not so much arguing about how much Falco tech listens to as much as Im arguing that he does listen to Falco....and is prolly a fan.....i have no emotional stake in how much Falco Tech listens too....but Stan here seems to think that his favorite artist could never be influenced by anything other than himself....

hip hop started in the mid 70's and blew up from there into rap....
Im interested in exactly what you think the correlation is between Hip Hop and Rap??? cuz from this statement i dont think you really know anything about Hip Hop culture

watch as i go into bacc pacc mode....ahahaha

dude in my opinion hip hop started first and it devolped over time, its based more on soul, and fast beats, yeah nowadays rap and hip hop are intertwined but it didnt used to be, atleast not at first...

I'll win. Tech listens to, and knows about a lot of 80's music. He grew up listening to it, and judging by the conversation he and my brother had when they met, I'd go so far as to say he really respects music from the 80's and followed it closely when he was growing up.

This shouldn't even be debatable considering the massive amount of 80's references in his music.

Donovan is talking out of his ass. He thinks that Tech influences himself, that rap and hip-hop are two genre's, and that rap came about in the 70's. George Clinton and Afrika Bambaataa helped shape the sound, but it was still rooted in FUNK. It wasn't until the early 80's that hip-hop/rap started to take shape through The Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Caz, and Grandmaster Flashes efforts to bring the new sound to the forefront of popular music.
