Given the negative stereotype of the world "socialist" it's remarkable that's he's been able maintain his position, let alone win in the first place. Of course Vermont is a lot different from most states, but impressive nonetheless.
For the life of me I can't figure out how people are cool with the idea of Hillary or Trump as our next president. The fuck?! Some of you are ok with that but not down to support OG Bernie?
Naturally I'd much rather put any support into revolutionary socialism, and I have for many years. Still the very idea of a candidate who is a socialist, albeit more of a democratic socialist, who has gained a significant chunk of support from Americans, is, in itself, very exciting. It represents a shift and perhaps evolution of society and is something that needs to be pushed further and further to achieve real, actual change, and one of the ways to help accomplish this is by supporting someone like Bernie who can bring these views and ideas to the mainstream. Small steps yes, but steps nonetheless. Supporting Sanders is more than simply giving an alternative to Hillary or Trump, it represents an opportunity to build an independent political voice for the vast majority of working class Americans (although after Sanders loses the Primaries, he absolutely should continue to run as an independent but I don't think he will). Anyways, just some food for thought. Obviously Sanders isn't some kind of revolutionary hero or some radical, but no one is saying he is.
