lcohol Use Disorder
Problem drinking that becomes severe is given the medical diagnosis of “alcohol use disorder” or AUD. Approximately 7.2 percent or 17 million adults in the United States ages 18 and older had an AUD in 2012. This includes 11.2 million men and 5.7 million women. Adolescents can be diagnosed with an AUD as well, and in 2012, an estimated 855,000 adolescents ages 12–17 had an AUD.

To be diagnosed with an AUD, individuals must meet certain criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Under DSM–5, the current version of the DSM, anyone meeting any two of the 11 criteria during the same 12-month period receives a diagnosis of AUD. The severity of an AUD—mild, moderate, or severe—is based on the number of criteria met.

To assess whether you or loved one may have an AUD, here are some questions to ask. In the past year, have you:

Had times when you ended up drinking more, or longer than you intended?

More than once wanted to cut down or stop drinking, or tried to, but couldn’t?

Spent a lot of time drinking? Or being sick or getting over the aftereffects?

Experienced craving — a strong need, or urge, to drink?

Found that drinking — or being sick from drinking — often interfered with taking care of your home or family? Or caused job troubles? Or school problems?

Continued to drink even though it was causing trouble with your family or friends?

Given up or cut back on activities that were important or interesting to you, or gave you pleasure, in order to drink?

More than once gotten into situations while or after drinking that increased your chances of getting hurt (such as driving, swimming, using machinery, walking in a dangerous area, or having unsafe sex)?

Continued to drink even though it was making you feel depressed or anxious or adding to another health problem? Or after having had a memory blackout?

Had to drink much more than you once did to get the effect you want? Or found that your usual number of drinks had much less effect than before?

Found that when the effects of alcohol were wearing off, you had withdrawal symptoms, such as trouble sleeping, shakiness, irritability, anxiety, depression, restlessness, nausea, or sweating? Or sensed things that were not there?
If you have any of these symptoms, your drinking may already be a cause for concern. The more symptoms you have, the more urgent the need for change. A health professional can conduct a formal assessment of your symptoms to see if an alcohol use disorder is present.

However severe the problem may seem, most people with an alcohol use disorder can benefit from treatment. Unfortunately, only of a fraction of people who could benefit from treatment receive help. In 2012, for example, 1.4 million adults received treatment for an AUD at a specialized facility (8.4 percent of adults in need). This included 416,000 women (7.3 percent of women in need) and 1.0 million men (8.9 percent of men in need).

Ultimately, receiving treatment can improve an individual’s chances of success in overcoming an AUD. Talk with your doctor to determine the best course of action for you and see Rethinking Drinking and Treatment for Alcohol Problems: Finding and Getting Help for more information.

I don't want to go to a clinic but you have a point. I need to learn moderation, just having a couple beers rather than a stupid amount of hard liquor. And tomorrow I'm going down to my bro's house to drink with him, which is big for me cuz I haven't gotten drunk with other people for a long time. But at the same time I gave him £15 and asked him to buy me a bottle of whiskey so I'm picking that up tomorrow...maybe the drinking age is 18 for a reason, I'm starting to question whether or not I'm mature enough to have control of multiple bottles of spirits.

Either way, I need more self control in order to drink alone less frequently. And that links in with an issue I'm just facing now. Since I don't really fit in with pretty much anyone my age I been making a lot of homies online and I was meeting waaaay cooler people so I pretty much gave up on my real life socialising and just substituted it with the internet. And I think thats part of the reason I take a lot of shit too serious. But I'm only now beginning to learn that growing up with nobody to partake in any kind of activities isn't fun. So when I'm drinking alone my mind tries to think that I'm not drinking alone cuz I'm talking with folks on the internet. I dunno man, its probably due to something deeper.

tl;dr I need to find some fucking weed

Eat clean and healthy and either run, or lift weights. Starting now is the best thing you could possibly do with your life i wish i had a time machine to go back do shit right
Yeah I feel that. You want to know the one thing motivating me the most to lose weight and get healthy? Not the diabetes or heart failure, its tge fucking fat pride movement. I just want to get in shape so I don't get associated with these stupid fucks

The latest thing to piss me off was the lack of support that girl on the internet got for making that "dear fat people" video. I read a response article in which the writer was saying "hey fat people that lady isn't very nice, if you want to eat a cookie then eat a cookie. Premature death doesn't matter because you can get hit by a car and die tomorrow"

brb about to go on a hungover jog

"perhaps i might be a little overweight "

Lol @ being so fat she's not even on the chart, fuckin body mass index of 36+ pretty much a couple cheeseburgers away from being severely morbidly obese and a walking heart attack / stroke / walking multi-million dollar hospital bill that will have to be paid for by responsible tax paying adults who actually have self respect and willpower and self-control. Man delusional people like that irk the shit out of me the United States is filled with walking talkng fully grown children. Bitch will probably coast through life more comfortably than ~95% of the global population. Shit disgusts me tbh fam we need to cut all these leeches off. No more food stamps if you're classified as overweight; in fact do away with all food stamps altogether these pieces of shit can't control themselves and shouldn't be allowed to spend money at a store they buy shit like milk and butter and macaroni and cheese and potato chips and other mouth breather food faves. Make them physically have to go to a government funded food bank and be assigned healthy bare essentials. If you have to have welfare more than 2 weeks honestly you deserve death by firing squad. This herd needs to be culled desperately.

Honestly once i get a gun i might take it upon myself to start the revolution. It's high time we begin to cleanse this once great nation; trim the fat, tbh fam
