I used to fuck with Madden, NBA Live, Fifa, MLB The Show etc. years ago.
Last Madden I played was 05, last MLB was 09, last Fifa was 06, don't even remember the last NBA Live or 2k I messed with cause it's been so long.
Shit started getting insanely boring if I was playing solo, just sitting there smashing the computer like 75-0 in All-Madden. Then the "updates" that would come out every year were laughable, like you really want me to pay for a new game when it didn't really update shit but make the graphics -slightly- better?
Even graphics updates in this game are bullshit, all that tells me is the publisher is purposely not pushing the limits of a system so it can make it seem like they're making improvements every year. Madden 25(14) on PS4 shouldn't look any different than Madden 16 on PS4 or Madden 17 or 18, but they hold back to steal your $$$ every year.
Sports games could easily have every 2-3 year releases with roster updates and even game play style changes released in patches.
Nato brought up online play and I guess that could be fun, as long as the people you play get "punished" for leaving a game if they're getting smashed somehow. When I would play MLB The Show 09 online people would just leave when I would start winning, shit was stupid as fuck.

Well at the start of online gaming, in the early divisions for example, people quit a lot more. Once you go higher up, people will play until the end.
I just started head to head in MUT and my opponent quit after his first drive, he was 4th and 22 on his 23 yard line and went for it lol then quit
Same shit in Fifa, but once you hit Division 1, games are closer and people stay till the end because they get a bad DNF% and less coins
