because Bod Arum wanted to extend his contract with Top Rank, had nothing to do with GGG. you can thank Arum for that fight falling apart, you can't force someone to resign with you
I still think Chavez is dumb for that. It was a ONE fight extension, guaranteed a minimum of $12 million for those 2 fights (and that's if they did poorly and lost) and $17 million or more if the fights did well. Anytime I see someone turn down guaranteed money like that, especially for a short term deal, I'll say it's a bad decision.

And he had the option to fight GGG without signing the one fight extension as well, it's just that he wouldn't have been paid as much ($5-$6 million instead of $7-10 million).

Angulo was treating Lara like a rag doll for the first half of the fight, can't imagine what a bigger, better, stronger fighter in GGG would do to Lara. He just doesn't have the power to get his respect and keep him off him, plus only throws his 1-2 punch at a time then circles for 30 seconds. Probably could have beat Canelo if he actually followed up on the shots he did land.

Well for one Im not so sure how much Canelo's body shots actually hurt him. For two you comparing one fight that has nuthin to do with another. Angulo looked like shit against Canelo who alot of people think Lara beat so it doesnt work like that. I think it will be a very good fight with GGG and well see how GGG can adjust to a real skilled boxer with a complicated style and alot of movement. Got Em!!

Word is that Cotto could fight Rios. WTH???????
Imagine just for a moment. The slightest chance that Brandon Rios could become the lineal middleweight champion of the world. Rios!

Now you guys see why I was going so crazy about how Martinez HAD to beat Cotto? Exactly what I thought would happen - bunch of blown up welterweight fighting for the lineage. Only Rios is worse than even I imagined.

If that's his next fight, he just needs to go ahead and hand the lineal title over to GGG.

It's one of those things. Canelo looked great against Angulo but Lara didn't look good against Angulo who was beating Lara up pretty good knocking him down twice, Lara could NOT get Angulo off him at all. But he did swell up Angulo's eye early which got pretty horrible by the end and he quit. But that first half of the fight was very telling for me. Lara doesn't have a lot of tools or power to keep off a relentless fighter. So you take an even bigger and stronger, more talented fighter who's excellent at cutting off the ring, it's a bad matchup for Lara.

Canelo is a boxer puncher, he's not really a pressure fighter, that's why Lara had more success against Canelo. He had more room to work. Angulo constantly had him on his back foot and against the ropes often. So it's really just about styles.

You need to watch that Lara vs canelo fight again breh, I agree I thought Lara did enough to at least draw, but it was obvious to me that he was hurt by the body shots. He doesn't look good vs pressure fighters. Canelo tried too hard to box, shoulda been more agressive.
I was going for Lara, had a bit of money in him and I thought he lost clearly (no draw). The body shots really made a difference. Of course I have no way of knowing if they hurt him, but you could HEAR the body shots, very loud pop pop pop! And then Lara would circle away and get on his bike. So it certainly gave the impression they hurt Lara based on how he reacted to them. I thought Lara gave away rounds and any momentum he had going for himself because he'd land a beautiful 1-2, and rather than following up he'd admire his work for a moment, then back off and literally not throw another punch for 20-30 seconds, meanwhile when Canelo did get close he'd unleash a nice combo to the body. He landed more of those than Lara landed his 1-2.

I thought Lara fought really well and thought the fight was close. I can't remember who I thought won off hand but I vaguely remember thinking Lara did better than a lot of people gave him credit for. I personally didn't think he was running. He was controlling Canelo with his footwork and countering when needed.
naner is like the most non biased poster here and a big fan of Cuban fighters obviously and he thought Canelo won. That says it all.

It was fairly close though, I just thought it was clear. 7-5 or 8-4, can't remember how I scored it.

I take offense to that. I'd like to think I'm the A-side of non-biased posters lol j/k I do my best to be as unbiased and objective when it comes to scoring but I will bash the Cotto's of the world for being a fag and Floyd for being a woman beater. But if they win a fight, they win, plain and simple.

I don't remember the lara/canelo fight that well but I just remember it being close. I don't really remember being that pissed about it being a robbery by any means though.

Yeah it was close, it certainly wasn't one sided, like I said 7-5, but clear.

apparently I said this...

I saw the split coming too. I told my homeboy there's gonna be one puzzling scorecard for Canelo, like 118-110. I wasn't far off. This was basically Hagler/Leonard with the styles and popularity of the fighters swapped. Do you like the guy landing less, but harder shots, or the guy using ring generalship and pot shotting all night? I thought Lara won close, so you can't complain about the decision if you thought it was close. But 117-110 is stupid. Brian Kenny is just about always wrong btw when it comes to scorecards. He's a moron.

I Am Touched Amir Is Concerned, I Can Get Him A Ticket - Floyd Mayweather
February 25, 2015

Floyd "Money" Mayweather has been going back and forth with Amir Khan over his criticism of his fight with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather is mocking Khan for the failure to secure a megafight.

Khan has said he was close to getting a deal done with Pacquiao as well as chasing Mayweather for a fight. Khan missed out on both. Khan also thinks thats Mayweather-Pacquiao fight could turn out to be boring if the styles fail to gel.

Khan told The Sun. " We came very close to securing a fight between both Manny and Mayweather- particularly Manny. I was in a good position and I could have fought either one of them. My strong performance against Devon Alexander has made some of the opponents think twice about taking me on. mayweather has probably chosen to fight Pacquiao because it's an easier fight."

Mayweather told the Indeoendent Sports Matrix. "I am touched Amir is concerned. I can get him a ticket to see what the biggest fight in history of boxing looks like."

No Comp Seats For Mayweather-Pacquiao Says Arum
February 24, 2015

To all celebrities be aware there will not be any complimentary tickets for May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas when Floyd Mayweather takes on Manny Pacquiao in a mega fight. Bob Arum of Top Rank who promotes Pacquiao says he is getting flooded with calls for requests for tickets from A list celebrities.

Arum also says that the MGM Grand is even keeping things very tight with who gets complimentary tickets. The venue will only be selecting the biggest of the high rollers.

Arum told ESPN 1100 Radio. Nobody is going to get these tickets without paying for them. The type of calls I'm getting, It's unbelievable. I could spend the rest of the day on the phone and seel out the entire place. The biggest block of tickets is with MGM. When i get a call for a celebrity, or i assume when Mayweather gets a call from a celebrity, we immediately send them to MGM and tell them to fill the order.
