I dont know about this dude as a person, but as a artist he had major influence on west coast music not just the bay he has 2 be mentioned in the same conversation with 40,DRE,SAN QUINN,KEAK AND THE JACKA cause the nigga held his own with every single one of em on everything they did together.....from explosive mode to 17 reasons to boss ballin 2 and the romp and so on....anybody trying to deny everything he accomplished in music is just SIMPLY HATING!!!!!

The thing about mess is either way if you hate him or love him, he always sparks interest and always keeps people talking. He has been one of the most popular and controversial figures in Bay Area rap. He also has one of the deepest catalogs out of any rapper ever. I can't think of anyone who is as charismatic as him. Mess also knows how to laugh at himself and not take shit too serious, even when shit is bad. Some people might question his character, but everyone who does talk about mess was cool when he was breakin bread with em. From Homewrecka, JT, San Quinn. If it was really like that why didn't they say somethin back then? Just makes them look suspect. Truth is Mess tried puttin a lot of people on over the years through his albums and compilations. He is a dope fiend now, but I think mess still has somethin left in the the tank with this rap shit

Deepest catalogs? Now people are confusing quantity as being automatically a good thing. Fact is Bay rap wasn't really shit from like 98 to 03. He put out a lot of releases in those years and nothing was great except Explosive Mode. He basically benefited from Quinn and JT helping him out and flooding the market at a time when Bay rap was at a down point. Never been anything special on the mic and production on most his albums was not that good. Don't try and act like he had talent like Jacka cuz that's totally false and why it kills me that people dickride him so hard. No he's not a legend

There was plenty of good Bay music then. Probably more so than now. Some of the most popular artists were better back then as well. Yukmouth and Mac Dre were both in their prime at that time. Mob Figgas were at their best. You had guys like Johnny Ca$h and Mistah Fab up and coming. There was alot of potential for the future back then and there was more unity and people working together. If anything it has been on a spiral ever since Dre died lookin back now

from 98 to 03 was one the greatest times in bay area music history before the hyphy movement when everybody had their own sound Mac Dre was fresh out and vallejo alone was putting on for the whole bay....Mac Dre,Mac Mall,Dubee,40,B Legit,Celly Cel,Young Lay,N2Deep and a host of others from that city alone was producing some of the best music at that time and then you mix in 3XKrazy,yukmouth,Dru Down,Ant Banks with that T.W.D.Y album and JT,Quinn,Mess,Cellski,RBL,Nickatina, was all putting on for their respective cities and that was when the music in the bay was the dopest.....god forbid Rappin Ron,Seagram, and Mr C didnt die before 98 then the bay music scene wouldve been that much more explosive!!!!!!

I THINK ON A MUSIC LEVEL.....MARV HAS BEEN A BAY AREA FACTOR 4 A LONG TIME BUT WITH A LOT OF THE PERSONAL SHIT THAT WENT ON SOME PPL LOST RESPECT. I HAVENT AGREED WITH A LOT OF HIS MOVES,BUT SINCE I ACTUALLY KNOW HIM PERSONALLY AND WATCHED HIM BLOSSOM SOMEWHAT INTO A REAL ARTIST I CANT TALK DOWN ON HIM CUZ I KNOW HE'S A HUMAN BEING AND MAKES MISTAKES JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE.
THIS WEBSITE LETS ME KNOW WHY THE BAY HAS SUCH A HARD TIME BEING ACCEPTED IN OTHER AREAS AND REGIONS. ITS ALMOST LIKE CANNABALISM. PPL DONT SUPPORT THEIR OWN AND FLY OFF THE HANDLE WITH OPINIONS WITHOUT THINKING. ITS KILLIN THE GAME IMO...IT ALSO MAKES ARTISTS NOT WANT 2 REACH OUT 2 FANS AS MUCH AND AT FIRST THAT WAS A BIG PART OF THE BAY AREA RAP TALK BOARDS.
#UNAPPRECIATIVE ASSHOLES MAKE US ASSHOLES ALSO....ITS HUMAN NATURE.
GOOD LUCC 2 U WEENIES WHO BUMP YOUNG THUG AND POP YOUR BOY PUSSY LIKE FAGS.
A LOT OF YALL DONT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL AND FAKE REGARDLESS.
SO GO AHEAD AND TALK SHIT ABOUT A MAN WHO OPENED UP DOORS 4 PPL AFTER HIM.
A LOT OF ARTISTS WOULDNT BE ABLE 2 GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT GETTIN THEIR HEADS TOOK OFF IF IT WASNT 4 THE MESSY MARVS,C-BO'S,MAC DRE'S,MOBFIGAZ AND PPL LIKE MYSELF CUZ WE STOOD FRONTLINE 4 THE WEST COAST AND NOR/SOCAL WHEN YALL WAS STILL SUCCIN TITTIES AND ASKIN 4 ALLOWANCE.
#TAKE IT HOW U WANT 2

He only started releasing many albums in 2003. In 2002 there was Turf Politics and Turf Thuggin with I-Rocc, both of which are among his best work, so no complaints there.

The flooding the market problem trully developed in the mid-00s, but this was hardly unique to him, everyone has been putting out way too many releases for (more than) a decade now.

Regardless what yall think of him now. Unless you twelve years old or a straight mark. You should know Messy was the shit back in the day. Shit Disobayish and Bandannas Tattoos. Was on during the time frame said. Before that he had way more shit. After he still put out heat. He might be trippin now but musically. What do yall really listen too?

Death on a Bitch dropped in like the 97-99 range I think, I used to bump that one a lot too, it had some nice tracks. And he has definitely had some dope production at times, some of those sampled beats he used to get on were sick. No one here really dickriding Mess, pretty much everyone hating, in fact. Dude got pretty whack with it over the years, and wasn't really that likeable, but he definitely had at least some skill on the mic.

I guess people have turned on him in the past few years but man the dickriding for him like 5 years ago was worse then any other rapper on here which is crazy cuz of how bad there is for a certain rapper right now
