And I'm not trying to talk down on 40 at all. I might not be the biggest fan but dude has had a beyond great career in a dying industry (big money wise), has a loyal fan base and is a bay/west coast legend but some of these dudes still hold out hope his name will be up there with Jay-Z or something notoriety wise.
I never got that mentality. I honestly don't care if my favorite rapper gets super popular. Like I hope they make a living and everything but don't give a fuck if they're on tv or play summer jam or whatever.

I don't care if I'm the only person who likes music by someone or if they go triple platinum. It just seems like there are a good portion of people on here who actively think he will, should, and could still possibly be on the level I was talking about and get defensive if others say otherwise.

Nuttkase @Nuttkase oldie but goodie, you know of them? They use to tour a lot with At the Drive in:

Yeah Murder City Devils ruled, saw them twice. This song rules

Spencer Moody's (lead singer) band Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death afterwards was pretty rad too. It was more art rockish than MCD though.

Last I heard he owns a antique store somewhere in Seattle.

Honestly E-40 problem isn't his rapping, its his beat selection. There is no reason to have 8 or more consecutive albums that sound exactly the same.
I can't speak on his beats really but his rapping is ultimately what made me lose interest. At first his style and slang was just something he did and was really unique. Then when people were like "wow that's cool" he seemed to push them as his thing which makes sense, and seriously, in my opinion at least, which seems to be the unpopular going by his track record, ran them both into the ground. I mean on the first couple The Click and solo albums his style sounded natural, it was just how he sounded. After that as he got more popular it became kinda of his niche and he really started emphasizing it and it sounded force and unnatural which really made it weak to me personally. I've said this before, whatever. Just my opinion.

In a Major Way is the last album I liked by 40.

^ I agree... og click - to element of surprise/ charlie hustle was always my favorite. As fan every release after it I was rooting for album to have a spark like that area did, he slowly let me down until all expectation, and fandom died. Hero's die hard.
