In some ways, I think Pacquiao is one of the dumbest fighters in history. Floyd is an astute business minded boxer, but he doesn't appear to be too bright either. I'm paraphrasing, but Abraham Lincoln's quote of nobody has a good enough memory to be an effective liar fights Mayweather perfectly.

They both have had a laundry list of excuses and had more excuses than reasons to make the fight at various times. I think Pacquiao got over most of those reasons as the time passed but that was also when there was no debate that Floyd should get lion's share as being the bigger ppv draw. The fight will never happen now unless concessions are made on both sides. I honestly only want to see the fight happen just so I can stop hearing about these stupid arguments about who's damn fault it is.

And? Floyd went from willing to drop the belt to willing to defending it against Amir Khan. 2/3 previous fights Floyd hasn't reached 1 milli buys. More than likely he won't reach that in September either, especially if Chavez jr fights on the same day. Business wise, he has to reach that, not Manny. If Showtime decides to part ways with Floyd because he couldn't make them money then Floyd will look like the fool that robbed the network for money. Business wise, he would have to agree to a 50/50 split if he wants to see the type of money he saw vs Canelo. Manny doesn't need to reach 1 milli buys and he still sees serious cash for his fights. Manny wants Floyd, doesn't need him. Floyd was just talking retirement for a reason, possibly so he won't get cut by Showtime before Showtime cuts him

I can understand that from and objective standpoint. Think about it from Pac's shoes. He probably thought he deserved the lion's share of the money when the fight was first discussed. It was amazing that they did 3 consecutive 1 million plus ppv buys, then did the fight in Cowboys stadium and drew 50,000 people and did 700,000 ppv buys against Clottey who had no fans. Floyd came back and did a better than expected million buys against Marquez. Pacquiao was rightfully thinking he was at least as big of a star as Mayweather if not bigger and was carrying the sport while he was gone.

Fast forward, he gets knocked out, Floyd signs the biggest deal in the history of the sport, and people have been asking you for 4.5 years about fighting one guy every time they see you publicly and that guy has every excuse about why he won't fight you either and is ridiculing you in the media. I think if I were Pacquiao, I'd want to fight him in the lobby of the MGM grand for free, it's not about money anymore. At least in my eyes, that's how I'd be I think.

He's co-promoted with Top Rank currently. He's with Banner Promotions but Top Rank got options for getting him the Bradley and Alvarado fights. I think he has one or two fights with Top Rank but Banner Promotions has good relations with Top Rank and since Top Rank promotes well in the US I see no reason why they won't continue their business relations.

Your reasoning for fighting for FREE is really amazing...you factored in every situation to justify a stupid public statement by Pacquaio...even putting yourself in his place...but there is one element you forgot while being in Pacquaio's shoes...with his tax problems would you bypass the earnings from possibly the RICHEST FIGHT in boxing history to fight for charity? No YOU WOULDN'T...why...because NOBODY IS THAT STUPID...including Manny Pacquaio.

Pacquiao should have taken the test when the split was at 50/50 (even though Floyd was the bigger draw). Floyd somewhat conceded, all he wanted was that blood test and even gave Pacquiao a two week cut off.

Pacquiao needs to make up his mind, one day it's 50/50 or no fight, then it's "Floyd can have the lions share", then it's $40 million is not enough (even though I agree), then it's "let's fight for free"....

I would have respected Pacquiao's decision if he would have stuck to his original stance on the drug testing issue. When he changed his mind, that made me believe he purposely ducked Floyd because he didn't agree to the terms when the contract was ready to be signed.

But Floyd was not the bigger draw in 2010, it was Manny Pacquiao. If we all agree with Floyd's arguments recently about being the "A-side" of the fight, Manny was it. Manny fought twice in 2009 and he topped Floyd's return fight. Look at what Floyd just did to Maidana and went against the contract and was willing to cancel a fight cuz of his demands. All cuz he's the "A-sider"? Now, how hypocritical is that?

Manny became popular because he was a beast and beat Barrerra, Morales, etc. The Oscar fight just brought him to a mainstream stage in America, but he was already a star long before because of his talents and accomplishments. Nothing hype about a legendary Hall of Fame career. Sure, Pacquiao fans and Floyd fans take things to ridiculous levels, but that's the fans.

Same is true with Floyd there are hella Mayweather fans that honestly don't know any about anyone else in boxing. Just go to any Worldstar or TMZ type site where a floyd video is posted and read comments, the boxing ignorance is incredible lol. But that's what happens with any crossover star - you get casuals and the ignorant. But at the end of the day that's a good thing as far as mainstream exposure goes.
