I think Hunter is a very overrated trainer. I think he has done an excellent job with Ward, but then again, all that credit might go to Ward if his fighters keep underachieving.
I love listening to Hunter talk between rounds though he's like a psychologist, remember that one fight when he was only whispering to his fighter? Lol never seen anything like that

I do think he gives good advice between rounds, which is something that I've been very critical of Roach on. But I think where he must be lacking is the preparation end of the training. Maybe he doesn't watch tape or he's only good with certain styles etc..?

Bradley basically saying he lost to Pacquiao because he didn't wear socks. That's a new one
my homeboy was telling me about that yesterday. I guess he trained that way from what he was saying? Not sure why you'd ever do that. Socks were made for a reason.

Pacquiao blamed his loss to Morales on the wrong gloves (He wanted Reyes but wore Winning, a good excuse), blamed it on wearing the wrong socks, and by having blood drawn too close before the fight (which was the reason why he claimed that he didn't want to do the blood testing against Floyd when they were negotiating that fight years ago).

Pascal maybe. But Pascal has the same promoter as Stevenson and I'm sure HBO is still bitter so maybe not. After that just check down the list - #5 JUERGEN BRAEHMER, #6 CHAD DAWSON, #7 Tavoris Cloud, #9 ISAAC CHILEMBA, #10 ELEIDER ALVAREZ.

Eventually if anyone moves up from 168.

And Ward destroyed Dawson before Stevenson.

Thus my Jermaine Taylor comparison. Taylor "beat" Hopkins twice, only to get KOd by Pavlik. Then Froch. Then Abraham. Similar guys. Very talented, athletic but once their chins got cracked it's over.
I wouldn't say Ward destroyed him as he didn't ko him in the first round and Dawson said this about that fight, "My honest opinion is it was definitely a set up by HBO and other people, too. It was set up for me to come in at 168. I would be vulnerable and they could expose it and he would look good at the same time. That's just my opinion on the whole situation. We could've done it at a catch weight where we both would've been comfortable but they wanted it at 168."

So nah, I wouldn't say Ward destroyed him at all. But yeah, I hear you and I also never had Taylor winning those fights against Hopkins. But Hopkins wasn't as impressive against Dawson as he was against Taylor. You can call the Taylor wins gifts or robberies, you probably wouldn't hear much argument if you did, but against Dawson you just didn't see "BHOP."

Lol Dawson called out Ward at 168. It was HIS idea. He's suffering brain damage. Ward beat his ass knocked him down three times. Sure, it wasn't a 1 punch KO destruction but the damage was done.

The difference between Hopkins vs Taylor and Hopkins versus Dawson was 7 years in age. Hopkins was 40 against Taylor and 47 against Dawson. He just cant beat an athletic fast fighter like Dawson at this age, especially since his power is gone. Against Taylor he still had some power left, and of course younger, better reflexes, faster etc. He's lost a lot of that and is basically beating guys on ring IQ alone at this point.

Hey man I am just telling you what he said, lol.

But with Hopkins and Taylor, I am not looking at the age. Yes it may come into play, but we can't have it both ways. If Hopkins performs good we say he is a freak of nature, an alien, because no one is supposed to be in their 40's, going on 50, doing what he does. But then as soon as he performs at a subpar level, we look at his age and question if he is over the hill.

To me, even though you see me going in on bhop from time to time, I do it because I respect what he has done and I expect certain things from him. It was just little things he was doing in that Dawson series that just didn't sit right with me and it probably didn't sit right with Bernard either.

Sidenote, my brother in law told me today that he works with Loreto Garza. They are both CO's at a prison a couple of cities away. He said Garza is a very cool cat and none of the inmates ever talks shit to him, lol. And it's crazy because my brother in law is a wrestler that holds some records and no one fucks with him either. But yeah man, it's a small fuckin world.

I bring up Hopkins age because I think that was the difference between Dawson and Taylor fights. I think they were similar opponents for Hopkins, but Hopkins is old. And that is why it is amazing every time he steps into the ring and wins, he's lost a lot of natural ability clearly. I just think any technical guy like Dawson at this age, Hopkins can't beat anymore. He can beat guys that he can control the pace with, like Pascal, Cloud, etc, but Dawson, those kind of technical opponents are a bad style match up for him. I'm sure there's some things Hopkins could have done better against Dawson, but I just don't see how he could have won, not at that stage of his career. Few years earlier, like the 175 Bhop that beat Tarver, I like his chances.

That's crazy about Loreto Garza. Haven't heard that name in a lomg time!

Have you guys seen Oscar Dela Hoyas twiiter? Just picks of fighters that never ducked and fought the best themes for today. Knowing that everyone was gonna talk about Stevenson and now he is an Al Haymon fighter, he is seriously going through some shit with GBP. I think we are gonna get an answer before the Floyd fight
