Haha you respect Stevenson for not whoring himself out? What do you think he JUST did? He signed with Al to do exactly just that. He's being pimped like the teenage girls he once pimped out! You think Haymon cares about Stevenson? He's just bringing him to Showtime for Hopkins
No my friend. Whoring yourself out is highest risk, lowest reward and not maximizing. Fact: he is getting more money for his upcoming fight than the Kovalev fight because HBO didn't match the offer from Show.

He's getting more money for his tune up fight, not Kovalev. The only thing the agreed on was the split. HBO definitely would pay Stevenson more money than he's getting against the Polish/Chicago kid.
I guess you didn't read the article from Ring.

Both Stevenson and Michel have said that Stevenson stands not only to make a career-high for facing Fonfara, but that the amount that he will pocket is more than that being offered by HBO for a clash with Kovalev

According to Stevenson and his promoter and they give no actual number. Seems impossible since HBO only discussed the split not $$$ purse total.
The fact that HBO didn't match the offer is proof. Showtime gave him what he asked for. Nothing else needs to be said. He got an offer from HBO, he wanted more money so he shopped elsewhere. Based on the legalities he was obligated to go back to HBO so they could counter. They refused. Blame HBO.

He agreed to an offer from HBO on his tune up with the agreement he'll fight Kovalev after.

He teams up with Al, they ask for more money for his tune up WITHOUT the guarantee he'll fight Kovalev.

That is where the problem is. If HBO is going to severely over pay for a tune up fight, they want assurance he's going to fight Kovalev next. HBO was willing to invest the money but Stevenson wouldn't agree to fight Kovalev and that killed it.

Stevenson / Haymon are to blame. HBO isn't in the "let's play games with Al Haymon" business anymore.

We actually don't know this as his guy said they had a multifight deal.

It is their fault. They are in competition and did not take the steps to secure the fighter of the year, ko artist and champ. Stevenson played it like a boss and I am glad he isn't allowing HBO to rape him.

All I got to say about this is no one thought GGG was going to be a star and is overhyped, yet he is soon to headline a PPV, meaning he is gonna get PPV money. All Stevenson had to do with HBO is stay patient and he will get HBO PPV money. Do you honestly think Stevenson would be headline a PPV with Showtime? Kovalev will get hyped up enough and all of his future opponents will be a PPV fight. And whats going to happen to Stevenson? just ask Yuriokis Gamboa

Roach: Pacquiao and Mayweather are going to have to fight each other

Mayweather Pacquiao Mayweather vs. Pacquiao manny pacquiao freddie roach floyd mayweather jr By Allan Fox: Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO’s) has a lot on his plate in the form of WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) coming up in less than two weeks from now on April 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada. But while the fight is incredibly important for Pacquiao, it’s one that his trainer Freddie Roach is already looking past it towards a much bigger fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

That’s a fight that Roach can’t seem to get out of his mind, and he confesses he’s even had dreams of the fight. In Roach’s mind, Mayweather doesn’t have much of a choice about the Pacquiao fight. He pretty much has to take it due to there not being enough big fights to finish out the remaining fights on his 6-fight contract with Showtime/CBS.

“I’ve thought about it [Pacquiao vs. Mayweather] so much, I’ve had dreams about that fight,” Roach said via supersport. “The pool is very small for both guys. Somewhere they’re going to have to fight each other. His [Mayweather] record looks good, but if he’s so good, why didn’t he fight Pacquiao?”

You can flip the argument around and ask the same question about Pacquiao. He’s got a great record, but he failed to agree to the random blood testing that Mayweather asked for when he attempted to make a fight against Pacquiao in 2010. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum chose to match Pacquiao with Joshua Clottey after the negotiations stalled over the blood testing, and that was the end of any serious negotiations between Mayweather and Pacquiao’s management. The bridges were pretty much burnt with Mayweather from these failed negotiations, because the two sides haven’t come close to making a fight since that time.

There is a small pool for Mayweather to pick his opponents from, but he doesn’t really need Pacquiao because he’s making so much money for each fight. If all Mayweather does is fight the following fighters then he’s going to be alright: Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

A fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather will likely never happen because Arum tends to have his opponents for Pacquiao picked out well ahead of time, along with the fight dates. There’s never room for Mayweather to insert himself into the equation because Arum is frequently planning Pacquiao’s moves ahead of time like chess pieces. For instance, Pacquiao hasn’t even faced Bradley, yet Arum has already got the winner of the Mike Alvarado vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fighting Pacquiao next September if he beats Bradley.

Malignaggi: I don’t rate Pacquiao as a good fighter

Malignaggi Porter malignaggi vs porter shawn porter paulie malignaggi manny pacquiao By Chris Williams: Earlier today, Paulie Malignaggi (33-5, 7 KO’s) took a shot at Manny Pacquiao after IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (23-0-1, 14 KO’s) bragged about having been his sparring partner in the past. Porter was giving a reason why he felt he’ll beat Malignaggi on April 19th in their fight at the DC Armory, Washington, District of Columbia.

Porter said this as quoted by RingTV: “Sparring with Manny Pacquiao. There’s no better blueprint than that. The guy’s got the quickest hands in the business, so I have all the experience and what it takes to beat Paulie.”

Being a sparring partner for Pacquiao isn’t that big of a deal, and really no way of telling whether Porter will be able to beat Malignaggi are not. Pacquiao has lots of sparring partners, and many of them are just average fighters and not future world champions.

Malignaggi responded back with “I don’t rate Manny Pacquiao as a very good fighter. I don’t rate him as a very intelligent fighter, actually.”
Malignaggi might have a point. Pacquiao is known for his hand speed, power and movement than he is for being an intelligent fighter. Pacquiao is kind of reliant on his trainer Freddie Roach to tell him what to do, and how to go about attacking his opponents. Pacquiao isn’t like Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is able to come up with his own ideas in the ring without having a trainer break it down for him.

What makes Pacquiao look like a less thinking fighter is how Juan Manuel Marquez was able to get the better of him in their four previous fights. Pacquiao’s lack of defense during his career has caused him to take more punishment than other fighters like Mayweather have had to take in the ring. Malignaggi is obviously thinking of how easy Pacquiao is to hit when saying he’s not a good fighter. Malignaggi is someone that likes defensive fighters like Mayweather rather than all-offensive fighters.

RUSLAN PROVODNIKOV ROOTING FOR FRIEND MANNY PACQUIAO, BUT EYES FALL CLASH WITH HIM OR TIMOTHY BRADLEY

"I think it will be a close fight again, but I will be rooting for my friend Manny Pacquaio. He needs to prove to everybody that he won the fight from the first time," stated WBO jr. welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov, who shared his thoughts on the upcoming rematch between undefeated WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. According to Provodnikov, he's been assured that he'll get a fight with either man in the near future, so you can bet that he'll be one of many observers paying close attention to the April 12 showdown.

"I am looking forward to fighting Timothy Bradley in a rematch. My team has assured me that I will be in the mix with one of these fighters in the fall and this gives me a lot of motivation," Provodnikov stated during a recent interview with FightHype's Michelle Rosado. Up first for Provodnikov, however, is a June 14 appearance on HBO. Although his opponent has yet to be determined, his manager, Vadim Kornilov, recently revealed that undefeated Chris Algieri is the current frontrunner to land the assignment.
