Yeah, its through the washington state exchange, not the federal one, but yeah.

what do you pay per month for your plan and what kind of coverage do you actually get?
Waiting on an email, so I have no clue. That said, its gonna be way diff for me than for you because of family status, employment status, income, last tax return, etc.

yeah I know that, was just curious, I think I told you before the bullshit healthcare.gov offered me
I don't remember if you did, but I just checked my email, and I currently qualify for washington apple care, which is basically medicaid, for 0.00$ This might change as soon as I file taxes, and will def change once I'm not technically unemployed, but I'll take it at the moment. Haven't looked through the fine print, but I've been paying my doc bills out of pocket for six months, and I'll take whatever I can get.

the cheapest they offered me was I had to pay $2500 in to it separate from the monthly payment before the insurance could even be used, there were still high co-pays, and there was something like a $180 a month fee (don't remember the exact amount)

it was one of those plans that's only good for possible emergency, it's basically saying a few thousand is better than paying $30,000 for a bad emergency

Oh yeah, now I remember the conversation. I have no idea, why they're only offering you that shitty plan. Is it cuz you have alternative coverage? You were in the service right?

I owe 8,000 in back medical bills, it would be 58,000 if not for the insurance I had through the union at the time.

I don't see how they would know I have alternative coverage. I have coverage through the VA, which is VA hospital only (unless serious emergency), that would be bullshit if I couldn't get real coverage due to being able to be seen at a shitty VA clinic lol

This was also a few months back when I tried out the website, back when the site would go down for days at a time and people were mad at how broken everything was.

Damn why so much?
I don't know your whole income situation but do you qualify for the charity forms they have at most hospitals? I filled out a form that basically said all my money is used for bills and expenses and my bill got reduced by like 80%
It goes off your income vs the poverty line. Even if you make like 80,000 a year it'll stilk knock off like 20% of the bill

fuck hospitals, still remember when I was 18 and got food poisoning so bad I couldn't just wait it out, went to the ER and them pieces of shit charged me $1500 just gave me some medicine to make me stop dry heaving and 4 plain old IV's to rehydrate me. Fucking IV's cost like $3 tops.

When I got the bill I lol'd hard when it said $700 in "nurses fees" when that fucking nurse only saw me for a total of a few minutes to change out IV's and I know they didn't put $700 in her pocket.

$1500 for laying there for 2 hours and like $12 worth of IV's lol

Hospitals can fuck off

Almost the same thing happened to me. Was 20 and had bronchitis, went to the er and got a script for antibiotics and an inhaler. They billed me for $1300 and I was like lol fuck that I'm not paying. They sold it to a bill collector got sued like 3 times and garnished wages ended up being like 2300 overall.

I look at it all differently now though. The bill is just a high initial offer basically in a negotiation. You're supposed to say its too much and get it reduced and its pretty easy to. I just didn't know any better and thought it'd go away. I couldve gotten the bill erased 100% cause I was making almost nothing working at walgreens, I just had to ask for the forms
Ah well live and learn
