How often have you ever needed a gun for anything?

Seems like most people I know here in Oklahoma own guns though, whether it be for hunting or whatever. They also passed the open carry law here so fools walk around with a strap on the side on the daily like it's the old west out here. There's certain places you can't take guns in to like schools and stuff like that though. I guess it remains to be seen if that lowers gun crime or not but I would think it would make it less likely for a dude to start shooting random people at a mall or something because so many people carry here. Everyone thinks they are John Wayne.
how often you ever used a fire extinguisher in your house? i bet you have one though. If somebody breaks into my house you better fucking believe they are getting a bullet in their head..and thats not trying to sound tough on the internet..thats protecting my family and everything i worked hard to buy. I agree with you on the open carry law. Somebody is definitely less likely to start shooting random people if everyone is carrying.

I will have to look up the statistics on this, but there are several studies that have said that you are more likely to be shot and killed if you carry a gun, especially in a break in situation. I understand that logic there and I don't fault you for it, but my question was really, how often are people's homes being broken in to in your area by armed robbers?

I think where I live, it is SO common that people have guns in their homes, it's basically suicide to try and break in. People also tend to be neighborly here than other areas I've lived so they are more likely to look out for their neighbors if something doesn't seem right. I don't feel the need to have one and don't want to put my family in a worse position by owning a gun, just my opinion. Even in a break in, they aren't looking to hurt your family most of the time and they spook easily. If I were the one breaking in with a gun, if I saw or heard a gun, I'd be a lot more likely to shoot first, wouldn't you?

I see what youre saying..but I don't agree..i think a lot of people would panic if they broke into a house and all of a sudden the family was home..shoot at them because they are scared or shoot at them because the family now knows what they look like and they don't wanna get caught...people who break into homes aren't doing it because they are great at making decisions

no, they aren't great at making decisions. But statistically, like I said, you're only more likely to get hurt when carrying a gun even in that situation. You're better off learning Krav Maga.
