Amir Khan Regrets Not fighting Devon Alexander in December

Amir Khan is playing the famous waiting game that Floyd Mayweather has setup. Amir Khan has sat out of the ring for 10 months now. He did that in hopes of landing the Floyd Mayweather fight and that doesn't seem like it could happen. Floyd put up a poll on his website to ask the fans do they want him to fight Amir or Marcos Maidana? Well Amir Khan won that poll but now others are saying Floyd might combine all the polls together out there and if he does, then Marcos Maidana may get the lucky ticket.
Someone asked Amir Khan if he regrets not fighting Devon Alexander now in Dec and he responded with, "Yes". Devon lost his title to Shawn Porter in December and it could have been Amir that would be walking around with the Championship. That would have made it easy to make the Floyd Mayweather fight and it would have put some more money in Amir's pocket. Now he has to play the game and hopes he doesn't get burned.

Marquez-Alvarado Will Have a Catch-Weight of 144

Henry Delgado, manager of former champion Mike Alvarado, has revealed that a proposed fight with Mexican superstar Juan Manuel Marquez would take place at catch-weight of 144-pounds. The fight is being negotiated for May 17th at the legendary Forum in Inglewood, California.
Marquez's last two fights took place in the welterweight division, but Delgado is not worried about the higher weight. He is confident that Alvarado will do very well, since his fighter is naturally bigger than Marquez.
Both fighters are coming off defeats, with Marquez losing a twelve round split decision to WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley last October and Alvarado getting stopped, in the same month, by Ruslan Provodnikov.
If Marquez wins, Delgado says his boxer would be ready for a rematch with Provodnikov or even a trilogy fight with Brandon Rios.
"The fight would be at 144 pounds, but it doesn't matter. Alvarado will do well at the weight, because he is bigger than Marquez. I hope that by next week they will make an official announcement," Delgado said.
"Anyone who thinks that Alvarado will be easy for Marquez is very wrong. After beating Marquez, we would want a rematch with Provodnikov and with Rios. When [Alvarado] is well trained he can beat anyone."

Its funny that all we have been talking about lately is Lara this and Lara that and yet he won't make numbers? Lara and Floyd will make numbers cuz the legit threat is there, especially if its not a catchweight fight. I bet you the majority of people who saw the Floyd or Canelo fight didn't even know that was a catchweight fight. I bet you half the "real" boxing fans think a couple lbs don't make a difference? If Lara and Floyd were to be made it won't be made at catchweight and it would be up to GBP to say Lara is a legit threat. But this fight won't happen anyways as I see Lara being saved for Canelo (I have Canelo winning that by KO)
Why do you guys argue fights that we know aren't on the plate? Give it time.
Sometimes I swear some ppl love the sight of their responses or somethin. 3months ago u guys were arguing Floyd-Martinez now its Floyd-Lara. Deal w/ his 2 options now and bring up the other cats once this may3rd fight is over. He has 3 more fights to go.

I mean, who really wants to fight Provodnikov right now? Does HBO have the option on his next fight? If not, he can fight on HBO or Showtime but his promoter probably wants that HBO money I'm guessing because all of his opponents he's chasing are on Top Rank. There's a lot of good Golden Boy options out there for him right now though at 140 or 147.

Bob Arum believes that Mayweather, who has yet to announce his may 3rd opponent, will not fight Amir Khan. Khan who earlier this year claimed to have signed a contract to fight Mayweather and was already in training for Floyd. Is now facing the possibility that Mayweather could end up with a different opponent. Most likely Maidana.
In the last two weeks, ‘money’ had set up a poll on his website asking fans to choose between Maidana and Khan. Khan won the poll, hoping it would prompt Mayweather to announce the fight with him. But Mayweather has yet to do so. This prompted Promotor Bob Arum to come out and voice his opinion. He said to Telegraph Sport in an exclusive interview from Macau, China:
“What he has done to Amir Khan is absolutely disgraceful, whether he ends up fighting him, or he doesn’t,” Arum said to the Telegraph. “My feeling is he is not going to fight him, but it’s disgraceful to do that to another human being because you are in a position to do that. Just because he has the power where you can do something like that…They have allowed Mayweather to get away with this s***. It’s terrible. They have twisted the kid in the wind. Mayweather should be ashamed of himself. He’s not going to sign the contract. I think he will fight Maidana.”
Arum advices Khan to forget fighting Mayweather. And in the process also promotes his own fighters

The testing is regulated under WADA, which is the same for VADA and USADA. As long as it's done under WADA protocols it is Olympic style testing. Plus they include Carbon Isotope Ratio testing and Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry testing. Those tests are used to detect exogenous testosterone. That is something USADA doesn't do unless they have suspicion based on other lab results. Basically it's the exact same testing that VADA uses.

By Allan Fox: 38-year-old former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (46-5, 27 KO’s) is saying that he plans on fighting the 36-year-old Joshua Clottey (37-4, 22 KO’s) on April 2nd at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Broadmeadow, New South Wales, Australia. This fight makes about as much sense as Mundine’s recent fight against the 42-year-old Shane Mosley. Clottey has fought only two times in the last four fights in beating journeyman Dashon Johnson by a 10 round unanimous decision last year in September. Before that, Clottey stopped Calvin Green in the 2nd round in November of 2011.
Clottey stopped fighting on a regular basis following his lopsided 12 round unanimous decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in March of 2010. After the loss to Pacquiao, Clottey has rarely stepped inside the ring, which is kind of disappointing because he had enough left in the tank to capture a title at 147 or 140 if he had stayed active all those years. But at 36, he’s up there in age and it’s unclear what he can accomplish fighting in the 154 lb division against the likes of Erislandy Lara, Carlos Molina, Demetrius Andrade and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Not that Clottey would get a shot against any of them.
For him to get a fight against those guys, he’ll have to fight on a regular basis, beat some good contenders, and hope that one of the sanctioning bodies gives him a high ranking to become a mandatory challenger for one of the champions. Clottey can forget about WBA/WBC light middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. ever fighting him, because that’s not going to happen in this lifetime.
Mundine had been talking about wanting to fight Erislandy Lara next. It looks like he couldn’t get that fight for some reason. Fighting the non-ranked Clottey probably won’t do much to push Mundine up the rankings. Mundine is currently ranked No.4 by the World Boxing Association, and he needs a solid win over someone that’s actually relevant still to get him up to the No.1 spot.
