the world isnt the same place that we grew up with, things were simpler and less complicated it seemed also possibly less populated so we had more of a everyone knew you mentality or you knew who your neighbors were...i couldnt tell you any of my neighbors names now

true story, i dated a chick with a kid and he was given a fake shotgun for his birthday and he kept using it wrong, would always point it at people or shoot them them..he showed he wasnt ready to handle the responsibilities that come with great power ...so i revoked his gun pass and as acting "father" figure i made it known that he would not be using this toy in my house ....sure the grand parents were pissed..but thats not my concern, my concern is him getting to used to the idea that it was ok to point guns at people and shoot ....
Congrats on showing the kid some luv.

Real talk tho, how is the world not the same place that we grew up with? Is it not the same because now its cool for cops to murder children over toy guns? Is it not the same because we have pigs, many who are coming back from combat who are used to being allowed to shoot anyone with a real gun that's a threat in a foreign land, bringing that same mentality back to our streets? I'm not understanding what population growth or not knowing your neighbors has to do with a pig murdering a child over a toy gun. The truth is the story doesn't add up, yet nothing will come of it because the government continues to shit on gun ownership while the government continues to murder us with their guns.

The people that sit back and say this kid fuqd up and the pigs were justified are the minds the government has already won over. It was a MF toy gun, they all looked real when I was a child (70s born 80s raised) and I never heard a single story ever of a child being murdered by police over a toy gun prior to the New World Order Millennium (although I heard of them getting murdered with a lot less).

There is no way this child should have been murdered over a toy, that shit is ridiculous.

"THEY" love to tell us this is a government "For the people, by the people." We continue to allow it to be a people for the government, by the government.

the world when we were growing up was not as fucked as it is today, we didnt have school shootings growing up...this all comes down to bad parenting , kids get raised by what they see and do and who they do it with ...their moral compasses are off...the kid lacked common sense and that is the parents fault for not instilling that quality in him....sure you should be able to carry around a toy AK all day and anywhere you want, there is no law against that..but lets say you saw that walking down your street..do you just shrug it off like "it has to be a toy" hoping that it isnt real...that toy looks real enough to me that if it was coming in my direction chances are im going to avoid that ... the kid unfortunately didnt put the gun down when the cops showed up..you have your back to the cops and make a quick turn towards them with the still in hand AK ...they might consider that a threat and its shocking to me that some people cant understand that...would you expect a cop to wait and hope that the person doesnt potentially open fire in their direction....

not sure if you heard about that ICE cop that was shot in roseville yesterday...im assuming because he's a cop its ok to be shot...but thats a perfect example of how cops are becoming worse and less likely to want to take any chances on threats because people just blast on them also

I guess we agree to disagree, your opinion is your opinion- I ain't mad at that. Cops have been getting blasted since the beginning of cops, that shits nothin new (maybe you heard of the wild west ionno), they signed up to be that so they better expect that- by the way pigs are not the brightest bunch of people on the planet. You are right I have no sympathy for any law enforcement officer, I feel bad for their children that their parent was selfish enough to become a pig and not get a real job to support their families.

We did have school shootings growing up, they were less frequent and the media wasn't masturbating over it back then. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but we had kids with heats in grade school in the 80s and early 90s, the only difference is it was for protection against gang rivals outside the school, not for being bullied at school or to try to look cool. I don't live in the "I have no rights" state of California, fuq dat- overall love the place and have ties to the place but I love my rights more. Out here we got heat and no govt bout to change that ish or they can expect what would be coming to them. Do we walk around with AKs? Some of us do and I'm good with it. We have a right to bear arms, its called the 2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment doesn't say you only have a right to carry a pistol and you can't carry an AK. The citizens of places like California have been bamboozled.

Man has been a murderer for 99.9% of his existence. Man has existed for at least 200,000 years. Guns haven't even existed for 1% of that time-frame. The slave masters have fooled us into thinking times have changed and guns are bad, yet they use guns every day to kill us and to kill people all over the world. That is an agenda being pushed by a party that was pro-slavery mind you (and don't get it twisted I know Republicans don't give a shit about us either). An AK in our hands they call an assault weapon, in their hands they call it a defense weapon, look it up they really do. All of my guns are defense weapons too.

Again the police murdered a child who had a toy gun.
By the way the police officer (now 4) in the other incident that was shot had real guns with permission for use against the people.

"A kid with a gun is pretty much going to have toy gun."
pretty much? so not "always"? he dont sound too convinced.

rip to the kid. but if i saw a 13 year old, or a kid lookin like he's 13 holding a gun, im not gonna assume its fake. especially if it looks like the (fake) gun he had on him. a lot of middle schoolers stay strapped. when i was in 6th grade a boy got arrested in another class for being strapped. i do think the cop acted too fast. but thats in retrospect. the gun looking so real, on top of his middle school age looks put him in a bad spot. rip.

I think a lot of the shock with this story is as much where it happened as what happened. Growing up in Oakland I never once considered buying a toy gun... I already knew that was a bad idea for the reasons that this kid apparently wasn't aware of. I knew the cops would assume it was real if for no other reason than that I was another dreadhead in the flatlands. Would anyone blink if they read that a black/latino teenager was shot and killed by police in East Oakland because he was walking around with a (toy) gun? Hell no. Black and brown youth get a raw deal in this country with law enforcement which is all the more reason not to give them any reason to overreact. This kid gave them a lot of reason to overreact.

While I agree with some of the other people on here that kids in general do stupid shit, I wouldn't label walking the streets holding any sort of gun as "stupid shit". You don't have to be smart to know that jumping out of a three story window or walking into traffic is dangerous... I'd say the same of what he did, and especially considering that he was a latino male in a city with latino gangs. He got racially profiled but he should have already known that he would be racially profiled.

well thats scary. im not afraid of crazed gunmen, im afraid of the cops. im also afraid for our society who feels protected by these people. glad i was never shot while running around with a bb gun in the hills behind my house.

You are wayyyyyyyyyy more likely to be killed by a non-cop than a cop my friend.

And of the cops that do actually kill people, how many are killing people in random drive bys or to steal their shoes?

I've been fucked with by both cops and non-cops alike over my life, and there aren't many people on here as anti-cop/government as I am....but don't let a sensational story drive you to extreme reactions and hyperbole.

A bad cop is a bad cop, but don't let that distract from the reality that over 300 people have been murdered by non-cops in Chicago this year alone.

I strongly agree with everything you said except the part about being racially profiled. How do we know he was racially profiled? We can't say that for sure. They went after him first and foremost because of the gun. Maybe the fact that he was Latino made them more trigger happy, but we really don't know that.

From a distance I could understand it looking real but not up close.

And I still don't understand 7 shots but as fucked as it is cops are trained to neutralize threats not subdue them.

I guess it makes sense why up here since like a decade ago black toy guns are considered illegal. Instead they sell transparent guns (except flea markets lol) where you can see all the internal plastic parts lol I dealt with the dirty harry 357 cap guns growing up haha all black with orange tip.

No disrespect to you or even the residents of Chicago (they being disrespected enough by their government), but Chicago is a poor example considering their attacks on the 2nd Amendment and gun ownership among law abiding citizens. Chicago is a prime example however of a city that does it wrong. It should be no surprise that a city has that many gun related homicides when they don't want to allow law abiding citizens their rights to gun ownership.

There is a difference between just playing with "gun" toys and toys that really look like the real deal tho. It's common sense to me that a kid will get in trouble when it looks like a real one.

When I was 13 I got into some similar shit. I got arrested for some shit and had a pistol on me that looked close to a real one. They found it in my pocket after they had me handcuffed on the ground. They also thought it was a real one for a few sec. Since they mistaken it for a real one I was happy they found it this way because I knew if they found it when I was carrying it there would've been a big chance to get shot. Some people are acting that if your 13years old that you some brain-dead idiot that doesn't know what the consequences can be of such things.

So as 13 year old kid I knew what could happen while carrying a fake gun and most people acting like this kid didn't? I also think the parents should've told him not play with it outside.

I really hate the police because of my experiences with them. Like that night that I got arrested they told my mother some bullshit story about that I was out there robbing old people and that's why they arrested me. Not to count all the other bullshit they arrested me while being innocent.

But in this case when we don't know what really happens and how the situation went down. We just know it's sad that it happens. For me I feel a lot of anger towards the parents, if the had even the slightest common sense this would all have been avoided.

Maybe some people on here like to yell fuck the cops because it's a cool thing to do while they barely have any experience with themselves being threatening bad by them. Same thing happens with "snitching".

All we need to know is 1) A 13 year old child was shot 7 times in the back by a law enforcement officer 2) The child was carrying a toy gun, not a real one 3) The child was not carrying the toy gun in the commission of a crime or breaking any laws 4) It is not unlawful to carry a toy gun

Everything else being added to the discussion about, the child should have known better, the toy looked real, we should expect the police to kill us when we are not breaking any laws, yadayada is all irrelevant opinion to the facts.
