We NEED OFFENSE. Period. Left field and 1st base are my 2 concerns. I think Belt was flash in the pan good for the 2nd half of the year. Either Panda goes to 1st and we bring in a new 3 bagger or bring in a new catcher and give Posey 1st base.... Left field needs a .280 25 hr guy!!!!!!!!!! LOL wishful thinking but we cant keep running triple A guys out there in left.

not much of an update, but it sounds like they're pretty interested

MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez reports that the Giants have already scouted Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu three times leading up to this week's showcases.
Baseball America's Ben Badler reported on Monday that the Rangers were the favorites to land Abreu, but it sounds like the Giants could be one of their main competitors. The Red Sox, Nationals, Pirates, White Sox and Mets have also been linked to the power-hitting Cuban defector.

any interest in bronson arroyo as a back-end starter? he wants a 3 year deal and will probably get it but he's durable
a zito replacement in the rotation? yeah, hes not bad, and he covers the weirdo shit that zito is vacating lol.

jacoby ellsbury will be available.
pagan has CF covered and ellsbury wouldnt be a good fit in SF. we need a better LF. i think ellsbury would be in a platoon with blanco if he came

I wonder if they have any interest in Brian McCann. Yes, we have arguably the best catcher in the league, and hes a great hitter and can play 1st base. a way we can extend his career is by signing Brian McCann, have them rotate at 1st and catcher.have brandon belt move to left

FUCK YOU
looks like timmy will be testing the free agent market

Tim Lincecum isn’t signing with Giants before free agency

Last month, after locking up Hunter Pence to a long-term deal before he hit the open market, Giants general manager Brian Sabean indicated that he hoped to do the same with impending free agent Tim Lincecum.

However, according to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com the two sides haven’t been able to come to an agreement and Lincecum expects to become a free agent.

Baggarly reports that the Giants offered him a two-year deal and plan to make a qualifying offer to Lincecum, which means they’ll receive draft pick compensation if/when he signs elsewhere. He’d also have the option of simply accepting the qualifying offer, which would be a one-year deal for around $14 million, but presumably Lincecum feels he can do better.

He’ll be one of the more interesting free agents to track, because Lincecum is still just 29 years old and his track record includes two Cy Young awards, but since the beginning of 2012 he has a 20-29 record and 4.76 ERA in 65 starts.

Giants re-sign Timmy for 2 years, 35 mil with a no trade clause...Ummm, re-signing Timmy is not a bad idea, given the state of their pitching staff, but 35 mil??? seems to me the front office is more interested in keeping the fans happy than trying to put that money towards building a better team. i dont get it also because less than a week Timmy said he was gonna test the open market and that he had turned down a 2 year offer and the giants were gonna match on a qualifying offer, meaning that if he signed with someone else they'd AT LEAST get a draft pick....why not wait and see what happens instead of throwing this amount of money at him???

thoughts?
