ESPN’s John Clayton has a strong grasp on the salary cap and figures that Oakland will have about $69 million in cap space for 2014. That number will likely change based on several things, but it is clear that Oakland will have an abundance of cap room next year as it continues to rebuild its roster. For the first time since Reggie McKenzie took over as general manager in 2012, Oakland will not have to cut players to get under the cap.
Wow, good shht. I'll give it to McKenzie on that one!!

at least he acted like a professional. whats the spread on how many days itll take for him to start talking shit
The only reason I don't envision him talking a lot of shit is because he never talked to the media. I'm sure he's doing it behind closed doors. His agent and pr people are telling him what statements to put out so he can look good and land another job. He doesn't mean a word of any of that shit. Good riddance Rolando. We won't miss you

I think we all remember the fighting he did with allen that got him suspended by the raiders, he talked mad shit then.

Fuck McClain, such a fuckin waste of time for the Raiders. Dude has raw talent and can be one of the best linebackers in the NFL if he actually gave a shit about the game.

What pisses me off is he'll get signed somewhere else and be a beast, I already envision it happening.

Darren McFadden excited about new Raiders offense

One of the reasons cited most often for Greg Knapp’s ouster after one year as the Raiders’ offensive coordinator was that running back Darren McFadden never looked comfortable running the ball in Knapp’s zone blocking oriented system.

Greg Olson is now running the offense, the zone blocking has been scrapped with Tony Sparano now overseeing the offensive line and the Raiders are hopeful that the change results in renewed productivity from their star running back. McFadden is also sounding some hopeful notes about the offense and is optimistic that it will help him be the “top-five” back that he still believes he is.

“This is very exciting for me,” McFadden said, via Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle. “I am the type of guy who likes to go downhill, make a cut and go; that’s my thing. We’ll mix it up like we used to, and get some zones in there, but for the most part, I will be keeping my shoulders toward the line of scrimmage.”

McFadden is entering the final year of his contract and Tafur reports that the team is open to talking about extending their relationship with the talented and oft-injured back beyond this season. That would be a departure from the general housecleaning that’s been going on in Oakland, albeit one that could make some sense if McFadden is able to find more successful footing in the Raiders’ new offensive scheme.

Yeah. Mike Jenkins and we just resigned Andre Carter. Our D looks better on paper already. I'm not expecting a playoff team, but we should see improvement for sure.

The reconstruction of the Raiders' secondary rages on in Oakland.

After landing former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins, the Raiders on Tuesday announced the signing of free-agent safety Usama Young, who started 19 games over the past two seasons for the Cleveland Browns. Young spent his first four years in the NFL as a reserve for the New Orleans Saints, where he played under Raiders coach Dennis Allen.

Young and Jenkins -- along with the recently acquired Tracy Porter -- give Oakland a new-look secondary for 2013. That doesn't mean the Raiders threaten to quiet opposing passing attacks. Jenkins declined in Dallas last season while Young failed to stand out in Cleveland. Porter, meanwhile, started just four games for the Denver Broncos in 2012 after suffering a seizure in August.

The Raiders desperately need big-play ability in the back of their defense, but Young -- penciled in to start at free safety -- managed just four interceptions in 29 appearances with the Browns, while Jenkins has just two picks since 2009. Oakland has signed eight potential free-agent starters on defense, but have arguably grown weaker on that side of the ball.

Urghhh, I hate to agree with Chree but it seems like the Raiders are signing players that nobody else wants.

I'm beginning to have mixed feelings on what McKenzie has been doing.... seems like he's hella cheap. None of these players are signed long term. So if they have a good season, they may end up signing somewhere else.

The raiders are so handcuffed by the salary cap, every raider fan in the world should be happy they are signing ANYBODY PERIOD! You guys are rebuilding. Its gonna take awhile but soon enough the Niners and Raiders will be reppin the bay together the right way.

What is he supposed to do? Use all our cap space to sign a couple big name free agents? He's trying to fill out the roster with guys who are inexpensive and have potential to make an impact. At the end of the day we know he wants to build through the draft and not free agency. Teams that build through free agency don't see long term success. Have some patience. Its not McKenzie's fault we're such a mess. If Al had done this years ago Reggie's job would be much easier
