I'm glad we traded Palmer and traded dor Flynn. Tony you're wrong about a lot of stuff. Sure we were better when hue was here, but we were far from a SB contender. Hue made moves to make the team a little better for the short term. Reggie is making moves to make us better for the long term. He wants us to be a contender year in and year out. Not a team that squeezes in the playoffs as a wildcard for a couple years, gets knocked out of the first round and then sucks again. Its about longevity. I know I'm gonna be a raiders fan for the rest of my life so I'd rather have to wait a couple years to be good if it means we'll be much better in the long run

Raiders sign Tracy Porter
The Oakland Raiders have signed veteran free agent cornerback Tracy Porter, General Manager Reggie McKenzie announced Wednesday.
Porter, entering his sixth NFL season, played with the Denver Broncos in 2012 after spending his first four years with the New Orleans Saints. During his time in New Orleans, he was tutored by Raiders Head Coach Dennis Allen, who served as defensive backs coach for the Saints from 2008-10.
The 5-foot-11, 188-pound Porter has played in 49 career games with 43 starts in five seasons. His career totals include eight interceptions, 38 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, one sack and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. Porter’s 74-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts sealed the Saints’ first NFL title.
In 2012, Porter was limited to six games with four starts after being sidelined due to health issues. He recorded a career-high four interceptions with the Saints in 2009, and played in a career-best 14 games with 11 starts in 2011.
The 26-year old entered the NFL as the Saints’ second-round selection (40th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Indiana.

There is a difference between what Reggie wants and what Reggie is going to get.
And only time will tell if this plan works out. I'm for winning "now" because there's no guarantee that the Raiders will be winning 4 or 5 years from now. Like said, it sounds good but only time will tell.
And if you want your team to be good for years to come then the Raiders may want to draft or sign a franchise quarterback.

I hear you bro, but if you want your franchise to be good year in and year out then the Raiders need to start by drafting or signing a franchise quarterback. Palmer is or was a franchise qb. We did give up too much for him though. Changing quarterbacks every two years is not going to work. We need an Aaron Rodgers, Flacco, Brady, Manning, Luck, RG3, Kaepernick type of qb that will be signed long term.
Tracy Porter is a strong pickup if he stays healthy. Seizures from concussions don't sound good though, we will see. Now we need to pick D. Milliner from Alabama and we should be much upgraded and ready to go at corner.

ESPN’s John Clayton has a strong grasp on the salary cap and figures that Oakland will have about $69 million in cap space for 2014. That number will likely change based on several things, but it is clear that Oakland will have an abundance of cap room next year as it continues to rebuild its roster. For the first time since Reggie McKenzie took over as general manager in 2012, Oakland will not have to cut players to get under the cap.
