He got busted for cycling off.
That's a full blown admission to knowing you are using.

All HCG does it get your naturally going again after being shut down from injecting synthetic.
Manny Ramirez got busted for the same thing and was suspended for 50 games (if I remember correctly).

Confusion Surrounds Lamont Peterson Alleged Failed Drug Test
by Kel Dansby | Posted on Thursday, March 28th, 2013

Lamont_Peterson

Lamont Peterson was impressive in his KO of Kendall Holt, which came after his nearly two year lay-off from boxing. That lay off happened because Peterson’s win over Amir Kahn was quickly tainted by a positive test containing Synthetic Testosterone.

Peterson was thought to be in better shape during the Holt fight than he was two years prior and his build naturally garnered sceptics. His past surely has marred the public’s perception of him as a fighter and every little aspect of his fights will be critiqued. That past was assumed to be pushed further behind him with the victory of Holt.

Recently, Peterson’s name has been linked to a failed test from the fight. This is where the facts become fuzzy and speculation is running rampant. The official drug test results haven’t been posted but Peterson’s name is automatically the first one thrown into the mix.

Throughout the fight process Peterson maintained that he was clean and would show the world his true talent. That was backed up by a post-fight drug testing result announced by DC commission head Sheldon J. Brown, whom had told the IBF and Holt’s camp that Peterson’s tests result had shown negative results.

RingTV was amongst the first to report these test but have since rescinded the article because of lack of factual information. The stories becomes more peculiar with reports leaking that says Holt is the one who failed the test. The test in question were positive for HCG, a woman’s fertility drug that is used when athletes cycle off of PEDs.

More details are bound to surface and those details can’t come fast enough for Peterson. His May 18th Showtime fight with Lucas Matthysse is riding on the results of these test.

ROBERT GUERRERO ARRESTED FOR GUN POSSESSION
By Ben Thompson | March 28, 2013

It looks like multi-division world champion Robert Guerrero is hoping to land the role of villain for his upcoming clash with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Earlier today, Guerrero was arrested for gun possession at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. Exact details of the arrest have yet to be released, however, according to reports, Guerrero was attempting to catch a flight back to Las Vegas when it was discovered that he had an unloaded 40 caliber semi automatic handgun in his possession.

Guerrero had been in New York since Monday to promote his upcoming May 4 fight with Mayweather. According to him, the reason why he had the gun in the first place was because the media knew he was an avid hunter and they requested that he bring a weapon for a photo op. Sources say that the gun is legally registered in the state of California, but Guerrero is not licensed to carry it in New York, so he is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon. The arrest comes just one day after Guerrero celebrated his 30th birthday.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR. ON RUBEN GUERRERO: "I'M NOT EVEN GONNA GET IN SHAPE FOR THIS ONE BECAUSE I'M FIGHTING A BUM"
By Percy Crawford | March 28, 2013

"Man, let me tell you something, I'm not even gonna get in shape for this one because I'm fighting a bum. Get in shape for what? I saw him doing one-arm pushups and all of that shit. He gonna need more than one-arm pushups because I'm gonna knock his ass out. You already know what's about to happen and I can't wait...He gonna be able to show a fresh set of scars after I get a hold of his ass," stated world-class trainer Floyd Maweather Sr., who shared his thoughts on a recent video of fellow father and trainer Ruben Guerrero. It's clear that the bad blood between the Mayweathers and the Guerreros continues to boil, so you don't want to miss what Big Floyd had to say.

PC: Big Floyd, I take it you watched the video of Ruben Guerrero training and preparing for his fight with you on Boxingscene, huh?

FM: Man, let me tell you something, I'm not even gonna get in shape for this one because I'm fighting a bum. Get in shape for what? I saw him doing one-arm pushups and all of that shit. He gonna need more than one-arm pushups because I'm gonna knock his ass out. You already know what's about to happen and I can't wait.

PC: Ruben has been talking a good game for sure, but now he's putting it into play and actually training. He was bench pressing 135 pounds and everything.

FM: He shouldn't be lifting weights. Them fucking weights not gonna mean a damn thing when I touch him on his chin. I'm telling you, I'm not even getting in any kind of shape for this, and he is getting in shape and watch what happen. If I got in shape…shit…it wouldn't be nothing nice, but I'm not getting in shape to fight a bum. It's like when that 23-year-old kid was talking all that shit in the gym. I put hands on his ass. I don't worry about shit like that, man.

PC: This is something that you guys really want to go down.

FM: He's comedy to me. I don't even want to fight him, man, but watching that video...see, before, I wasn't even mad. That video got me just mad enough to rip his fucking head off now. Lamar, watching that video now, I wanna rip his fucking head off.

Longtime assistant Lamar [in the background]: Don't rip it all the way off (laughing).

FM: Okay, you right. I won't rip it all the way off; I will take it off easy. I'm gonna make it where he got a nice soft spot to fall. He gonna fall and stick where I put his ass down.

PC: (Laughing)

FM: Watch how I do him. I'm gonna whoop his ass. Fuck that, I'm gonna stop him. I'm gonna tell you the round I'm gonna stop him in. I'm gonna stop him in the 3rd round. I will be surprised if he make it out of the 1st, but I'm gonna stop his ass in the 3rd if he make it out of the 1st. I'm gonna whoop this dude's ass, man. He talking about all this 30-0 shit, but he ain't beat up nothing but a bunch of winos. They all get drunk together and start fighting. But one thing about it, he ain't gotta worry about going 31-0, that's for damn sure. How the fuck he gonna not get hit when you see how fast my hands moving? When he see how fast my hands moving, he ain't gonna be able to get out of the way of it. I just can't wait because he doing a lot of talking on video, but motherfucker, what you gonna do when you looking me in my fucking eyes? That's what I want to know.

PC: It's definitely getting interesting. I can't wait for the fallout of this. I wanna see the weigh-ins and everything for this fight (laughing).

FM: You already know what's gonna happen, and I ain't even in shape. But I'm gonna knock his ass out. He on video showing his scars and all that shit. That shit don't mean nothing, man. He gonna be able to show a fresh set of scars after I get a hold of his ass; scars upside his fucking head. I'm gonna beat the socks off of his ass. He doing one-arm pushups and lifting weights, but what his ass need to be buying is a pair of roller skates.

5000 tickets sold for Alvarado-Rios II fight at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada
March 28th, 2013 | Post Comment

Alvarado Rios II Alvarado vs. Rios II mike alvarado brandon rios By Eric Thomas: Saturday’s rematch between Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) and Mike Alvarado (33-1, 23 KO’s) has already sold 5000 tickets, according to Dan Rafael for their HBO televised fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The Mandalay Bay is set to hold 6000 fans, and so there are still tickets available to be purchased for the fight.

The two fighters went at it last October with Rios stopping Alvarado in the 7th round in a war. Their promoter Bob Arum wanted to put them back together due to how exciting the fight was, and perhaps also because Arum really doesn’t have a lot of other options for either of them to fight due to the small size of his Top Rank stable and his habit of preferring to put on in house Top Rank fights rather than matching his fighters against guys from other promotional stables.

If Rios loses this fight then it’s almost guaranteed that Arum will put him back in with Alvarado because he can’t let Rios move on with him having been beaten because Arum wants to match him against his other top welterweights Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.

If Alvarado loses, then Arum will be looking to put him in with Ruslan Provodnikov, the fighter that just finished losing to Bradley by a 12 round decision earlier this month.

Rios says he’s 99% certain the fight will be just like the last one with Alvarado choosing to slug it out with him instead of using his height and reach advantage to box from the outside. As for Alvarado, he says he’s going to fight differently by being smart, but he doesn’t look confident like he’s going to be able to resist getting into a war with Rios.

Rios acknowledges that Alvarado is a good boxer, and feels that may even be a better boxer than himself. However, he doesn’t see Alvarado as a great boxer, and for that reason he sees himself winning the fight again and moving on to the more lucrative fights.

Audley agrees to terms for Deontay Wilder fight on 4/27; waiting to sign contract
March 28th, 2013 | Post Comment

Wilder Harrison Wilder vs. Harrison deontay wilder audley harrison By Scott Gilfoid: The new and improved Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) has agreed to the terms for his fight against the gigantic 6’7” Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) for a scheduled 10 round fight on April 27th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

The fight may be scheduled for 10 rounds, but it’s not going 10 rounds. This fight has got an early KO written all over it. I’m not going to sell Audley short, because I think he’s definitely improved immensely since he took off 20 pounds of blubber that he’d been carrying around since he turned pro in 2001, so I think I think he’s got a punchers’ chance of winning if he can blitz Wilder early.

It’s got to be early because once Wilder bounces a handful of huge right hands off of Audley’s chin, this fight is going to be over. The only way for Audley to get around that is to go straight into the teeth of Wilder’s offense and look to score a quick KO.

It won’t help running because Wilder is able to land long right hands with one-punch power. Also, Wilder is devastatingly powerful when he’s throwing shots even while being held onto in a clinch, and I imagine Audley will be doing an awful lot of clinching if the fight goes for more than one round.

Audley said on his social media site: “My side has agreed all points. Waiting to sign on the dotted line. Here is my logic for accepting this fight. Take the biggest risk, 4 the biggest reward. Lose 2 any 1 from this point on it’s over. Here we go.”

I think Audley needs to forget about the retirement threats. We kind of have seen that one used way too many times by him in the past, and I don’t think anyone buys it anymore.

If Audley gets smashed by Deontay on April 27th, then you can believe that it won’t be more than a month or two before Audley is talking about returning to the ring, and giving it one more shots. The British public will likely buy, and then it’ll be Audley fighting someone else and getting good ratings.

This is a good fight because Audley is much improved upon the fighter that lost to David Haye and David Price. He’s so much lighter on his feet and faster, and also seems to have become smarter in the ring. He’s using jab more and boxing from the distance. Will that be enough for him to beat Wilder on April 27th? Probably not, but he’s got a chance and I rate his chances a lot higher than I would someone like Price or Haye if they were fighting Wilder.

Broner: I’m going to abuse Paulette [Paulie] the Magic Chick
March 27th, 2013 | Post Comment

Broner Malignaggi Broner vs. Malignaggi paulie malignaggi adrien broner By Dan Ambrose: WBO lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) doesn’t think too much of WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi’s skills or power, and he sees him as an easy victory when the two meet up on June 22nd on Showtime at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Broner, who still refers to himself as “Mr. HBO” despite the fact that his fights will be televised on Showtime now due to Golden Boy Promotions fighters being frozen out by HBO, said to ARBeatGang “I’ve got this fight coming up with Paulette. I call him Paulette the Magic Chick. He’s going to let me feel his power. What’s the f*** up in that sentence. Paulette, who you going to stop? Who gonna slap asleep? What you got, seven knockouts?
Really. He says he’s going to let me feel his power. When was the last time you had a knockout? You’ve got to be deaf, stupid, retarded and dumb because you can’t even hear what you’re saying out of your mouth to believe it…I’m not just going to abuse you, I’m going to knock you put…she’s been stopped a few times. It’s like a chick on the corner. She’s been stopped a few times, played with, and put back on the corner. And someone just gave him a title. Now I’m going to take your title and put you back on the corner. I ain’t paying you either.”

I don’t think Malignaggi knows what he got himself into when he agreed to take this fight because he’s going to be trash talked to death by the time he does get in the ring with Broner on June 22nd in Brooklyn.

Broner looks like he’s going for the throat by refereeing constantly to Malignaggi as a she rather than a he, and calling him Paulette instead of Paulie. You can only imagine how this is going to sound like in each interview and then press conference as the fight draws nearer.

Peterson Cleared, Drug Tests
Negative Following Holt Win

By Jake Donovan

Further details are being released in the ongoing drug testing
saga surrounding Lamont Peterson’s 8th round knockout win
over Kendall Holt last month in Washington D.C. This time
around, it’s good news for the previously accused party.

Several sources have confirmed that Peterson tested negative
for any banned substances following his February 22
performance, marking his first fight in 14 months. The news
means he now gets to return to the ring on May 18 as planned
for his titanic showdown with fellow beltholder Lucas
Matthysse.

“I can confirm that one fighter provided an atypical test result
as it pertains to the Peterson-Holt post fight drug test following
their championship fight,” Andre Johnson, Peterson’s press
agent, stated Thursday afternoon to Boxingscene.com. “Both
camps have the chain of command and test results. Both test
results are identified with each fighter’s names attached.

“Lamont’s test results were all negative across the board.”

The news was confirmed in passing by representatives from
the IBF, who declined to offer further details until it was
prepared to release an official statement.

Previous reports indicated that test samples from “a male
boxer” provided “atypical findings” of a banned substance,
which turned out to be hCG, a fertility drug that also produces
testosterone but in more popular form is used as a weight-loss
supplement.

The latter product is banned by the FDA, labeling the diet
product as fraudulent and illegal to be used in the United States
as an over-the-counter product.

Nobody has specifically named Holt (28-6, 16KO) as the fighter
who tested positive – in part due to the fact that a positive
result was never entirely specified.

That the lab report stated an atypical finding means that there
was enough to exceed the allowable amount, but also not
enough to present the offending party with a significant
advantage.

Holt has taken to social media to deny any such claims, as he
– along with most of the boxing public – were under the
assumption that it was Peterson who tested positive. The
accusation stemmed from an online report from another
publication who has since retracted its story, but also comes in
part due to Peterson’s recent past.

The fight with Holt was the first time Peterson (31-1-1, 16KO)
saw ring action since his Dec. ’11 upset split decision win over
Amir Khan. A rematch was planned for last May, only for
Peterson to get popped by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency
(VADA) for traces of synthetic testosterone during random pre-fight drug testing.

The findings resulted in the rematch being canceled, but also
led to the revelation that Peterson began such medical
treatments in Oct. ’11, two months prior to the Khan fight. Drug
testing conducted following the fight produced negative results
for both fighters, but the VADA findings prompted the WBA to
strip Peterson of one of the two belts he acquired that evening.

Peterson was permitted to keep his IBF title, despite having to
sit on the sidelines for all of 2012.

Fans and uninformed media speculated aloud of possible
repercussions had Peterson been the one identified as the
fighter who tested positive. Now that his name is cleared, it’s
on to future business.

The drug controversy was created by Holt’s camp after leaking
out news of a weeks-long discussion with the D.C Boxing and
Wrestling Commission to obtain test results. The commission
cited confidentially laws disallowing such information to be
forwarded, prompting Holt to sign a consent form on March 22
to allow his records to be released.

Such consent was also granted by Peterson on Wednesday,
after which the D.C. commission forwarded the results to all
parties. However, such results were not specifically labeled
with either fighter’s names.

Peterson and his camp never expressed concern, largely due to
previous verbal and e-mailed assurance that both fighters
tested negative. Such communication wasn't sufficient for Holt
or the IBF, both of whom insisted upon receiving the results for
both fighters.

"We are fine with the representation of the D.C. Commission's
verbal statement, but we prefer to see the test results," IBF
President Daryl Peoples stated to Boxingscene.com on the
subject earlier in the week. "It's standard procedure for our
organization to receive such results."

Peterson’s handlers were content with the information
provided, both in previous form and in most recent format.
Whether or not his opponent tested positive wasn't of their
concern.

“The commission called us and informed that the results were
negative. We didn’t ask about Kendall. We were only worried
about Lamont,” notes Johnson. “We’re looking forward to
moving on towards who he next fights."

Peterson is currently in training for a planned May 18
showdown with Lucas Matthysse in Atlantic City. Ironically, the
date marks exactly 52 weeks following the planned May 19,
2012 date for Peterson’s eventually canceled rematch with
Khan.

Alfredo Angulo vs. Erislandy Lara on Maidana-Lopez undercard on June 8th
March 28th, 2013 | Post Comment

Maidana Lopez Maidana vs. Lopez Angulo Lara Angulo vs. Lara marcos rene maidana josesito lopez erislandy lara alfredo angulo By Eric Thomas: Junior middleweight contenders Alfredo Angulo (22-2, 18 KO’s) and Erislandy Lara (17-1-2, 11 KO’s) will be facing each other in the co-feature on the Josesito Lopez vs. Marcos Maidana card on June 8th at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA, according to Gabriel Montoya.

This is a good fight. Lara, #1 WBC, #3 WBO, #5 IBF is coming off of a 9th round technical draw against Vanes Martirosyan last November in a fight that Lara appeared to win.

If the fight had gone the full 12 there’s no question that Lara would have won because he was really starting to dominate at the time of the stoppage in the 9th. The fight was halted due to Martirosyan suffering a cut over his left eye in the 9th round from an accidental head-butt.

Angulo, #9 WBC, looked less impressive in his last fight in beating welterweight Jorge Silva by a 10 round unanimous decision last December. Angulo looked shaken up a couple of times by the light hitting Silva when he was flurried on. Angulo was too slow to react to the flurries, and ended up taking a lot of head shots.

Angulo won his fight before that against Raul Casarez by a 1st round knockout. Angulo was destroyed by James Kirkland by a 6th round knockout in November 2011, which is why Golden Boy has put Angulo in with two soft touches in his last two fights. The Silva fight was supposed to be an easy one for Angulo, but he didn’t have the hand speed to deal with Silva.

Lara, 29, would seem to have all the advantages in this fight. He’s the much faster guy with better movement, and defensive skills. Lara should easily win as long as he doesn’t stand in front of Angulo and look to slug it out with him. Angulo does punch hard, so if Lara tries to slug with him he could get hurt.

Broner to Rios: We can fight; you won’t touch me
March 28th, 2013 | Post Comment

brandon rios adrien broner By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) says he’s fed up of seeing former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) trash talking about him on videos, and he says if Rios wants to fight they can fight.

Broner doesn’t see the Golden Boy-Top Rank rivalry from getting in the way of the fight being made. Broner believes he can make it happen on his end with Golden Boy. The only question is could Rios do the same thing with his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank.

Broner said to ARBeatGang: “Who is Brandon Rios. I keep seeing multiple videos of him cussing me out, calling me bi**** and s***. Wait. Quit playing that Golden Boy-Top Rank bulls*** because we can fight. All that talk about how I’m ‘too small’, you’re going to ‘knock me out.’ You won’t touch me. Easy money. I just robbed a bank.”

If Rios has been saying Broner is too small for him then he needs to look at him again because Rios, 5’8”, is only one inch taller than the 5’7” Broner, but in the reach department, Broner has a huge three inch reach advantage over Rios. In other words, Rios is the smaller fighter, not Broner.

I’d actually favor Broner over Rios in a big, big way. I see this as an easy fight for Broner just like his wins over Gavin Rees and Jason Litzau. Broner would dominate Rios if given the chance.

It’s too bad that Rios’ promoter Bob Arum controls all of his match-ups. I seriously doubt that Rios would be able to get Arum to agree to let him fight Broner even if he asked him nicely. I think Arum would tell Rios forget it if he brought it up. It’s too bad because it would be a good fight to see, and it would be an interesting match-up for boxing fans sick of seeing Rios fight Mike Alvarado over and over again.
