Bob Arum fucked up the Mayweather vs prime Cotto, and the Manny vs Mayweather fight. Plus he messed up the Gamboa vs Juanma. Now he's messing up the Rios vs Lucas and Doniare vs Mares. Arum is and has been in the way of some great fights..

Let's say Floyd fought Pac in Pacs next fight and beat the shit out of him, he WON'T get the credit for it. People would say Pac was washed up, old, coming off two losses, etc.
I wouldn't really care about what people would say. These days it's hard for any top fighter to get any credit for any win unless it's something out of this world. It's a fight that should happen because they're both fantastic fighters who cares what random people say about the fight.

Yeah, but what has been one of Floyds complaints about boxing, the people who cover the sport, etc? That he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

When Mayweather retires from boxing the fans and media will love him and finally give him his respect.
Because they'll finally understand that he brought something different to the table and generated money and spotlight for the sport. My thing is this, don't wait til the man retires to give him his props. That's like speaking on a dead guy at a funeral or giving flowers at a funeral. My pops always told me that you wish people well while they are living, you speak to them kindly while they are living and he always said he wanted his flowers while he was alive, not while he was dead. Point is, again, give this man his props for what he has done, now.

I give any boxer, cab driver or A tier fighter, props because there is no gurantee that after the fight you are right in your head or will survive. Now I may acknowledge this guys skills more, or that guys skills more, but to deny what Floyd has done in the ring, outside the ring and for the sport is wrong. Give that man his props. He's drawing in a time where economics are fucked up, where boxing is fighting other forms of entertainment like MMA and WWE (even though WWE is not "real" it's still competition as they're all fighting for disposable income from the same demographic.)

At the end of the day look at his resume. Would I like to see him fight Pac? Yes and no. Yes because I think he can beat Pac and no because it's no longer that important. You have a ton of new talent coming up, Broner, Zewski and a couple of others, so I honestly think it's ok for Floyd to never fight again and retire. I'd miss him, cause you don't see that type of talent often, you really don't, but the show will still go on.

If I was Floyd I'd maybe do one more then hang it up.

A few years ago I would agree with this comment, but now everyone seems to be giving Mayweather his props which he deserves. I think because he's getting older and he's losing a little of the attitude that made some people not like him. I used to think Mayweather was disrespectful and disliked the fact that he carried himself like he was bigger then the sport of boxing. I now realize of lot of his attitude/showcasing was for show and to help promote his fights. Which was smart because as of right now he found a way to make himself the current pay per view king. Along the process though he also created a lot of "haters" for lack of a better word, people who judge Mayweather outside of the ring before they even acknowledge his skills and accolades inside the ring. Unfortunately a lot of those "haters" happen to be writers/reporters/boxing analysts so that doesn't help his legacy. People don't realize how much effect those people have on someones legacy, which is why I hate the manny nutriders on HBO because they shit on all his opponents and the fans buy into that shit. Anyone notice how much times Lampley and Merchant brought up the point that Marquez might be using PED's during Marquez ring entrance. I mean Marquez is a legend and a hall of famer, i think he deserves more respect then that, at least wait until he test positives before you make those types of accusations. Manny has been accused of using PED's for the past 3 years and never once have they brought it up during a live pay per view event. They do a lot of damage by accusing boxers of shit like that when there are millions watching their live broadcast and taking the words that come out of their mouth like its words straight from the bible.

Mayweather is learning the hard way that for your legacy to reach its full potential he has to get right with the media. Ask Kobe, Barry Bonds, and Tiger Woods how the media could shit on your legacy with the quickness.

I do agree that people will fully appreciate people like Kobe, Tiger, Bonds, and Floyd 20 years from now. When people forget about all their off the field/ring issues. They will look back at their numbers and stats and solely judge these athletes off of these facts.

^^You hit the nail on the head. But Mayweather knows full well by now he won't get the credit he deserves until he out of boxing. Money Mayweather was made to fuel the hate from the media and fans, and Floyd is cashing in on the hate. I know I hated Lennox Lewis when he was beating on Holyfield and Tyson but after he retired, I had to respect his boxing game and resume as an ATG heavyweight. Mayweather will be loved after he retires..

But Mayweather already gave Marquez the guy that just KO'ed Manny a boxing lesson. Please name the last top 10 147lber that Manny fought since Cotto at a catchweight of 145lb back in 2009?

I think Mayweather should retire since Manny just got knocked out cold. Mayweather probably doesn't even want to entertain the the thought of fighting Manny now.

This is true for most great fighters that were hated in their day. Gene Tunney used to get slammed in the media and by other boxers for being an "intellectual" and then going on to beat the great Dempsey twice. Now he has a book written about him and grace's most peoples all time lists. It's a shame people don't appreciate what's right in front of them while it's happening.
