I got nothing back on this one, my point is, there is no reason to be really calling his number to get some snaps other than we have limited options for a QB and we havent had anything close to a pro bowl QB since 2001 or 02 and that creates unrealistic expectations for Nate Davis based on nothing. Yea he has a strong arm, so did Kyle Boller.

1. regardless of competition, Nate Davis has better accuracy, arm strength, and decision making than any of our QB's currently. in pre-season he rally'd the team on a few 2 minute drills and 4th quarter game ending drives. --- that alone Alex has rarely done successfully, if ever.

2. Carr was the franchise QB in Houston for 5 years, then he got a chance in a place with a worse QB situation than us, Carolina.

3. you dont make much sense here. you talk about giving him some playing time but because we havent had a pro bowl qb since 2002 that by playing him it would create unrealistic expectations?



hopefully nate davis gets a chance to compete this year, maybe letting him sit for a year to learn will pay off more so, we cant call it either way yet. but i am sick of the qb favoritism the team has had during the last 3 years.

Patrick Willis has Surgery

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - San Francisco 49ers All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis(notes) has undergone surgery on his right knee to remove an inflamed fluid sac that kept him out of this year's Pro Bowl.

The 49ers said the surgery, considered minor and done about a week ago, was performed by Dr. Tim McAdams and Dr. Gary Fanton at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics in nearby Redwood City.

Spokesman Bob Lange said there is no infection and no structural damage. The team will not put a timetable on Willis's return, but he isn't expected to be sidelined long.

The team will adjust his off-season conditioning and regimen as he rehabilitates.

Agent: McCloughan won't voluntarily step down

Scot McCloughan's agent says the 49ers general manager has no plans to step down from his post. "Scot McCloughan is not resigning as general manger of the San Francisco 49ers," Peter Schaffer said in a brief telephone conversation. Schaffer said he had spoken to McCloughan five minutes earlier.

News of a possible resignation was reported earlier this evening by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, which, citing sources, reported that McCloughan, 39, was considering stepping down from his position. According to the report, McCloughan met with top 49ers officials Wednesday afternoon, including president and CEO Jed York and Paraag Marathe, the team's vice president of football operations. The report goes on to say that McCloughan left the facility this afternoon and files were relocated from his office. It is not exactly known what prompted the meeting, but it is not believed to be related to McCloughan's ability to evaluate talent. The 49ers have not responded to multiple inquiries.

If McCloughan were to step down - or more likely, if he were forced out - the 49ers would be without their top football decision maker five weeks before an NFL draft in which they have two first-round picks. The top candidates to succeed him would be Trent Baalke, the director of player personnel and Tom Gamble, the director of pro personnel. Marathe, who has handled player contracts in recent years, would be a candidate to run the business side of the operation.

McCloughan was hired by then-head coach Mike Nolan in 2005 as vice president of player personnel. He was promoted to general manager in January 2008. In his media guide bio, Jed York describes McCloughan as "just the man we need guiding the personnel decisions of this franchise. He's a cool customer who handles pressure situations well. His pedigree is that of a true football man. Scot has been an integral part of championship teams in the past, and we are confident that he will be a part of another one here with the 49ers in the near future."

the thing i dont understand is why they didnt give rathman the oc job last year he is supposively one of walshes best students in the west coast offense but hell its too late for that and no it would be stupid to think sing is walsh like but he is very good at getting the best out of his players
