Look a few posts about. Possibly the two Evil Dead "universes" crossing paths in Evil Dead 7, with Bruce Campbell
Yes I get they will cross paths, but since "ash" was the hero in all of the movies. It seems they are going with the girl being the new "ash" which IMO is stupid as fuck.

So ash vs Ashley in the near future lol.

It's only stupid imo if they wanted to go the comedic route, which doesn't seem to be the case. Based on this movie it seems to be serious horror films, while the originals were horror/comedy.

I dunno, I watched the original Evil Dead (the first when that came out in 1981) Friday night and the remake did a great job, it was done better all around as far as a serious horror film goes. Remember, the OG was a very low budget, B movie and was pretty cheesy at times. But it had an original style of directing, and lots of gore which of course led to the cult following. It was unintentionally funny at times because of how bad some of the scenes were. But then they just went with that and purposely made the next one funny with Ashley and his hilarious one liners and facial expressions. None of that stuff really existed in the OG Evil Dead. It was Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness that had all the funny shit.

I said the same exact thing. Evil dead sucked imo, then they got $ from it and then mAde evil dead 2 ( which was the same damn thing with a bigger budget).

where chick was throwing up the vines before the rape scene...it was definitely cgi
Alvarez, who also has a background in computer-generated imagery, also confirmed in an interview
that the film does not employ CGI (except for
touch-ups): "We didn't do any CGI in the movie [...]
Everything that you will see is real, which was
really demanding. This was a very long shoot, 70
days of shooting at night. There's a reason people
use CGI; it's cheaper and faster, I hate that. We
researched a lot of magic tricks and illusion
tricks."

saw this tonight, almost empty theater lol. it was good, i think you really can't make better evil dead remake than this one. all the best stuff from evil dead 1 and 2 was there, kinda. i liked how some of the necronomicon (shame they never call it by that tho) pages had those pictures from og movie posters. special effects and gore was dope. in the world of shitty remakes and reboots this is on the better ones list

I really liked this movie and it was cool that it was Evil Dead but it wasn't actually a complete remake. There was a few parts I thought were kinda funny and theres supposedly a scene after the credits that I didn't stay to see. I'm def copping this on Blu-ray when it drops.
