Being in Europe and watching the BBC every fucking day about the new Iran that the US wants is kind of a show of stupidity on america's part. That's fine that america went after Afghanistan first, considering they are the weakest, then going after Iraq, just to make Pakistan an ally in the whole confrontation against the middle-east, now going after the most powerful Persia?

Is this what the Bush administration wants? More death? I say MAG BAR AMREKHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That crazy bitch Rice was right, Iran IS THE BIGGEST threat to the US. That is great that they surrounded Iran first, just to think of an invation of oil, but the true thing about it is is that america wants a new Iran. America wants thier fucking finger into everthing. Amerika definitely could not invade Iran anytime soon. That would be suicidal. They can and likely will use other tactics, such as placing severe sanctions on Iran and persuading other foreign pressure and attempt to destabilize the country, military air-strikes, covert military ops, etc.

I don’t think a full-blown invasion is a likely scenario, not any time soon at least. It would be worse than Vietnam and I think the US military officials are well aware of this. They definately want a new Iran and it's really a question of what their strategy is. Supporting/funding a coup? Wide spread propaganda in hopes of a popular uprising against the current government?

This country (the leaders rather) wants to control the world. I think a coup is more likely than an invasion. It wouldn't be the first time the US wiped out a shit load of people for no "good" (my opinion) reason. Fuck the schmucks that run this country.

How is this? I was always under the impression that it was the terrain in Viet Nam that made the invasion so unsuccessful. What kind of terrain is in Iran? If the target is visible all over that country I don't see why the U.S. wouldn't bomb the fuck out of all the populated militarized regions.

For one, Iran is MUCH bigger than Vietnam (or Iraq):

Iran: 1.648 million SQ KM land
Iraq: 437,072 SQ KM
Vietnam: 329,560 SQ KM land

Second, the terrain varies greatly- it is very rough and rugged but does have some flat lands and desert. It also has lots of mountains, especially towards the northern region, in addition to to having the Caspian Sea on the North and the Persian Gulf on the South.

Only the northern region of Iraq is rugged, the rest is very flat. Compare that to the map I posted below.

Lastly people from all over the mid-east would likely join the fight against "the evil imperialists" and rightfully so. It would be an unwinnable war for the US.

And of course, we currently have our hands tied with Iraq and Afganistan as it is. We would need at least an additional 500,000 troops or so.

They don't have the backing. Almost every country in the UN opposses any attacks on Iran, because they still believe they are developing energy for resources.
