“bottom line is this: You Marxists, or whatever you want to call yourselves deal in what if. Capitalism deals in the bottom line-reality, what IS. All the theory you can regurgitate from books you read, or borrow from your favorite rebel leaders fails to address reality. I haven't read one instance where anyone of you has laid out some kind of plan as to implementing your socialist paradise. it's always, `you ignorant capitalist pig slave drivers will never let us experiment with pure socialism`.”

It seems every month or so some idiot makes the same thread in the GOM.

“how will you address the issue of motivation to succeed without the incentive within capitalism?

How will scientific and technological advances be realized without the ingenuity found only within capitalism?”

In a Capitalist nation the incentive to work is "work so you can pay your rent, your mortgage, credit card, school loans, your over-priced food, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, and so on or you STARVE". THAT is the only incentive capitalism offers us. Why work more efficiently at work if you know you have to be there for 8 hours no matter what? Under socialism, the incentive to come up with more efficient ways to do things is that we'd have to work less time to do the same amount of work…the amount of NECESSARY labor needed to produce the things we NEED like food, housing, etc. would gradually decrease, eventually we would work a lot less.
What’s humorous is people pronounce capitalist countries make the finest products, the best quality etc. The truth is for every one good product there are a hundred shit products. This is what happens in a capitalist nation…big companies taking shortcuts to save a few bucks. It doesn’t matter if the product is shitty, unsafe, or useless. As long as they can sell it they will.
There are countless examples of scientific and technological advances that are being suppressed by capitalism. A great example of this would be electronic paper, which was discovered in the late 70’s by Xerox. At that time they didn’t know how to market this idea and instead of sharing this information with the scientific community they buried it for over 20 years, just recently have they started playing around with it. How many companies and research centers have stumbled across new ideas and new technologies only to throw it away because their marketing team didn’t know how to make a profit from it? How is this advancing the scientific community?
Any new idea or scientific breakthrough is crucial for human advancement and a system that favors money instead of an idea is not helping mankind, it is only slowing down the process. A nation where profit does not get in the way of science, a nation where man has more free time to study and explore, a nation that gives equal education to every child is the only way the human race will advance.

these answers are nothing more then theory. they are not practical in an unstable society inhabited by unstable people. People dont care about the common good, they care about themselves, thats the way the world works.

Coldblooded you are the most misinformed person i have ever seen on a messageboard. I seen this quote from you in another thread

What people in this thread are missing is a common misconception among Americans: Communism means helping the poor(you know, those lazy, uneducated welfare abusing drug addicts you see on TV) at the expense of the rest of society. That is incorrect; well, it's correct if you're referring to the relatively poor, which includes the lumpens, workers, lower middle class, middle class, and lower upper middle class. Your misconceptions about income distribution seem to make you assume that if tommorrow we said, "ok we'll divide up all the money in America among every citizen equally" you'd be poorer than you are now. In reality you'd probably be much better off.

ex:
If America had 100 citizens, and a total wealth of $100, it'd look like this:

1 man would have $40
4 would have about $5.50 (each)
5 would have $2.40
10 would have $1.20
40 would have $0.40
and the other 40 would have $.01

(source: http://www.faculty.fairfield.edu/fa...&wealth.htm)

So 80% of the population have less than a dollar, and another 10% have a little over a dollar, while one asshole got $40 all to himself.
If we split it up equally, everyone has exactly $1.

80% of the population are better off!!!!!!!!
and another 10% are not noticeably worse off!

that's 90% of the population.

So dead that sh1t about "people want stuff. I want stuff." cuz unless you're in the upper 10% wealth bracket you're going to be better off than you are now. And if you're in the majority, the bottom 80%, you'll be astronomically better off.

Now I know what you're going to say, that sure we've got all this money now, but under communism the economy will stagnate and we'll turn into Cuba. Well let me try and break this down like this: Right now we work at least 40 hours a week, most people more than that thru either overtime or second jobs. But if we cut away all the useless industries in this country, all the pointless jobs and bureacracies, we could acheive the same standard of living by working about 15-20 hours a week by pooling our labor and employing the unemployed.
the actual stats are as follows
the top 20%=40% of the wealth
the middle 60%=50% of the wealth
the bottom 20%=10% of the wealth
put into your numbers thing... 100 ppl and 100 dollars
20 ppl have $2.00 each
60 have $0.85 each
and 20 have $0.5 each
tada, the real stats
oh and for a comparison with communism...
100 people have $0.75 and somehow the other $0.25 has disappeared, and continues to do so all the time

PoeticBass: makes up numbers

Apparently you didn't understand, I said:

You're Done For The Night
mine is from my political science textbook... published 2002...
you think id just randomly make up those numbers...
well except for the communism one, thats jsut a guesstimate based on the inefficiency of communism... but i thoguht that was clear from the joking way i phrased that part
but the rest is right outta my politcal science textbook
