my brother does A&R for a label here in LA...he used to intern at atlantic, they would get about 15 demos a day, the interns listen to them, but most everything was garbage.

the best way is to make personal connections, if your music is good, people wont mind passing it along and associating their name and reputation with it. if your not able to move to l.a. and do that, then myspace is a good way.

there are now services like tunecore.com that charge 20 bucks to get your music onto iTunes and sell your albums for 10 bucks and you get 7 back....if you get some radio play and sell about thousand, and get a ton of myspace plays a day, people will notice.
