for the record, jay-z's new record is BANGIN. he put a lot of
creativety into & it shows. RE: pac, i think the last few years
of his life (the death row years) were 1) his most prolific &
2) some of his worst material. i say that as in THE WHOLE of
what he did at that time. some of his songs from that period
came the hardest but overall there wasn't enough music that
rose to the bar ME AGAINST THE WORLD set. when pac was w/
the row there was so much extra shit going on around him it
comes as no suprise. shit, he touches down from the clink &, as
legend has it, drops 7 songs on his 1st night of freedom. all i'm
saying is i wish he had controlled in his output, put it under check, &
excercised discipline. but at that time he was with people that would
tell him he could do no wrong. so fuck it, he kept on rolling. no-one
will ever likely dispute the quality of his last work cause the man's dead.
i just know he could have done better. pac was, clearly, setting himself
up to get off of death row when he was murdered & set up his own
company. it's my geuss that we would have then seen him REALLY
cut loose. shame it never happened. my 2 cents.
(& yeah, we all repeat ourselves. i been doing it lately 'cause some lines
are too dope for me to let go.)
