Paul Williams vs Winky Wright Saturday April 11th

They will be fighting at 160, middleweight. Should be a banger.

Fight is set for April 11th.
Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas

Paul Williams

36 (KO 27) + lost 1 (KO 0)
27 years old
6'2
82“ reach
Last 5 fights: Verno Phillips TKO 8, Andy Kolle KO 1, Carlos Quintana TKO 1, Carlos Quintana Loss UD, Antonio Margarito UD

Winky Wright

51 (KO 25) + lost 4 (KO 0) + 1 draw
38 years old
5'10
72“ reach
Last 5 fights: Bernard Hopkins Loss, Ike Quartey UD, Jermain Taylor Draw, Sam Soliman UD, Felix Trinidad UD

Things to consider
: How will Paul Williams do at 160, who normally fights at 147 or 154. Will his chin be as good at the higher weight. Will Winky have too much ring rust? At age 38, he hasn't fought since his loss to Bernard Hopkins in 2007, can he keep up with the younger, more active fighter?

This is a very interesting fight to me. I'm curious to see how Williams can do, at 160 against a vet like Winky. If he wins, and looks good doing so, I'm sure he will go after Kelly Pavlik for a title since Williams said he wants to hold belts at 160, 154 and 147. If he doesn't, I'm sure he'll stick around 154 and 147. A win for Winky on the other hand will shoot him right back up to a possible title shot.

boring fight... im thinking it goes the whole 12 and winky takes it slightly.

i think he has too much experience behind him
id choose winky over most fighters but a 10" reach advantage is a big advantage and Williams is skillful enough to hold him off with that. Most likely go to Williams in a 12 round unanimous decision

Tough one to call because of Winky's inactivity. I think P-Will is just going to outwork Winky, but then again if Winky is game, he could very well jab himself into the winner's circle.

But damn. 160. I really liked the matchup problems P-Will created at '47. At 160, he's not really a big fighter, and besides his wingspan, doesn't really create as many matchup problems as he did against the smaller guys.

That was his biggest asset, IMO.

Wright takes on a fight no one wanted

LAS VEGAS – Winky Wright has the unenviable task Saturday of not only facing a middleweight with a reach almost the equal of Lennox Lewis, but also fighting on the heels of a sensational card of lightweight bouts.

Wright hasn’t been seen in a boxing gym in nearly two years, since getting bulldozed down the stretch by a bigger, stronger and more physical Bernard Hopkins.

He couldn’t get a fight, and the rumor mill said it was because his price was too high. Wright, though, begs to differ and says his price was always right.

^^yeah these are like mini 24/7 series. The Kirkland one was dope, him & Anne Wolf are tough as nails, they train hard as fuck.

Who you got winning this fight?

And you check out the Lightweight PPV on saturday? Pretty dope card, all fights were exciting. I'd like to see Valero vs Katsidis.

I got Williams winning on activity on Winky's long layoff + coming off a hand injury that cause him to pull out of the Munoz fight.

Yea, I watched the PPV last night. Figured I'd watch the Showtime card live and then catch a good quality download of the PPV and stay away from websites. I always knew Valero had power and Pitalua is most definitely tough and can punch, but he's also 39 years old. Hernandez ended his career, hopefully, like a savage. Katsidis/Chavez was dope and the way Reyes put away Diaz was nice.

That card should have been on HBO or some kind of non PPV station. It was a dope card and worth paying for but no one really knows who Valero except the people that sought out to watch a PPV. Stars are born from people tuning in saying "I guess I'll check this out", no ones gonna take a $40+ chance on shit they know nothing about.

.. and your sig is dope, and I ain't talking about Valero.

I agree it should have been on HBO. In Golden Boy's defense it was also supposed to have Casamayor and Barrios on the card, which would have added a lil more star power to it. Still, $40 was too much, I would have bought it if it was $10-$20.

Still haven't watched Bradley/Holt, I heard Bradley got knocked down by a punch that would have KO'd just about anyone at 140.

And yeah, she's the only thing good about that shitty movie The Spirit. Watched it the other day and felt like it was my duty to make a gif of that scene, lol.
