If Mosley can't make the fight with Mayweather, I think he should try and get the fight with Pacquiao since the hatton fight fell through. He'll demolish Pac Man

no the ricky hatton fight is still on, they were just negotiating. It's going down May 2nd.

As for mosley, I heard Cotto would consider a rematch and that's something Shane would want as well. Paul Williams also called him out but I doubt shane goes that direction.

i just saw it on ESPN, my bad. Shit, how bout he fights the winner???? I thought Mosley won the first Cotto fight. I wouldn't mind seein that fight. Cotto wore down in that fight too, but Mosley let him off the hook. Paul would be the biggest challenge if he chose to take it on. Mosley/Clottey would be a great one, though I think he would beat Clottey by a hard fought decision

He's definitely too small, but everybody was so pumped off him beating De La Hoya. I just want to bring everybody back to reality.

^^lol, yeah I think shane would be a bit too big for manny but I would never count pacquiao out. I mean Cotto did beat Shane and cotto is a small welterweight, he's about 5'6 1/2 which is the same height as pacquiao, but obviously cotto is built thicker.

Shane looked like an absolute beast against margarito but that's because Nazim Richardson came up with the perfect plan to beat him and shane executed it to perfection. Pacquiao is fast as fuck and he's awkward. It would be a great fight

Of course people were pumped, he jumped 2 weight classes to do what almost nobody thought he could or would.

What reality would Pacquiao losing to a bigger man bring anyone back to ?

The reality that he beat a fighter who was drained and weak from training having to come down to a weight he hadn't fought at in years. I take nothing away from Pac, but come on now. Anyway if he can beat a DLH, maybe he should take an even more dangerous challenge in Shane to prove he's worthy of his pound for pound ranking. Mayweather had alot of points regarding Pac's pound for pound ranking. The way he earned it is pretty suspect and I'm a Pac fan. He's a much improved fighter over the years but there were way better fights to be made if Manny really was thinking about taking the best fights for boxing. I understand the getting his money part. If he beats Hatton, then set up the Mosley bout. Mosley's got a legitimate belt, it would be worth his while.

It's sad when you have to put a guy against a much bigger guy to "bring everybody back to reality."

The reality is Pacquiao is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Him losing to a bigger guy is not gonna bring anyone "back to reality." Everybody is already living in reality.

On top of that, I wouldn't count Pacquiao out. He's so fast he might be able to take him.

wait, wait, hold on a sec. The way Pac got his p4p rating was suspect?? All he did was beat top guys and weight drained or not, went up from 135 to 147 to take on de la hoya (although he was already p4p #1).

And it's hypocritical because Floyd NEVER fought the best. He fought de la hoya and ricky hatton (who was a 140 pounder) when he was at 147. Not Cotto, not Margarito, not mosley, not clottey, not cintron, not Paul Williams. If anything it was suspect how Floyd got to keep his pound 4 pound status while not fighting anyone ranked in his own division besides Zab Judah who was coming off a loss to Carlos Baldomir!!

Floyd did great work at 130 pounds and 135, (just like pacquiao) no question and that's how he became pound 4 pound champ (that and the fact that the then pound 4 pound champ Bernard Hopkins lost to Jermain Taylor) , but at 147 Floyd didn't do shit. He beat none of the names and retired in his prime with all those guys mentioned above were still there.

If not Pacquiao, who should be pound 4 pound best?

He's a much improved fighter over the years but there were way better fights to be made if Manny really was thinking about taking the best fights for boxing. I understand the getting his money part. If he beats Hatton, then set up the Mosley bout. Mosley's got a legitimate belt, it would be worth his while.
You have to understand that Manny is not a 147 pound fighter. It was supposed to be a one time thing for de la hoya, in fact he only weighed in at 142 or 143 something like that. He is a 135 pounder, or 140 at the most. He doesn't have to fight Mosley or anyone else at 147 if he doesn't want to. Don't forget he started his career at 106 pounds.

f he beats Hatton, then set up the Mosley bout. Mosley's got a legitimate belt, it would be worth his while.
Ricky Hatton has a legitimate belt at 140 too though.

Smaller fighters have been fighting bigger fighters since the beginning of boxing. It's sad when a smaller fighter beats a bigger fighter who he could never beat unless the bigger fighter had to sacrifice his advantages. Now that's the truth accept it or not. If he fights at 147 then he is 147 and whatever else weight he fights at just like a Paul Williams or any other smaller fighter who has moved up since boxing began.

And on Floyd, he beat the best there was as he climbed the ranks, and none of those fighters (Cotto or Margarito) at that time should have been mentioned in a sentence with him except Mosley and DLH. It looks like he had great foresight at knowing both Margarito and Cotto would at some point be exposed as overrated fighters. Yeah Cotto got the suspect win over Mosley and Margarito got the now Highly suspect win over Cotto. They haven't amounted to much outside of beating each other up.

I'm aware and smaller fighters are not forced to fight at higher weight classes either. If manny wants to fight one time at 147 thats on him.

It's sad when a smaller fighter beats a bigger fighter who he could never beat unless the bigger fighter had to sacrifice his advantages.
Like when Sugar Ray Leonard came out of retirement, jumped two weight classes to fight Marvin Hagler? (hagler was getting older/slower, leonard demanded a larger ring, bigger gloves, etc.)

That's been going on since the beginning of time too. Prime sugar ray leonard vs prime Hagler? Hagler wins without question but that's the way it works since they weren't in the same weight classes.

Plus, you don't think pacquiao gave up some of his advantages too? I mean HE is the one that had to gain 15 pounds. Oscar just had to lose 3 pounds.

If he fights at 147 then he is 147 and whatever else weight he fights at just like a Paul Williams or any other smaller fighter who has moved up since boxing began.
But why does he have to fight at 147? he is not a champion at 147. He holds no belts at 147. He's not obligated to fight anyone at 147. I just don't see why him doing a one time thing to fight oscar de la hoya, simply because it was a huge event, would then make manny have to fight at 147. Makes no sense. I mean when Roy Jones went from light heavyweight to heavyweight to fight John Ruiz, no one demanded Roy Jones stays at heavyweight to fight Lennox Lewis! Everyone knew it was a one time thing.

And on Floyd, he beat the best there was as he climbed the ranks
But so did pacquiao! He beat everyone in his divisions as he was climbing the ranks.

and none of those fighters (Cotto or Margarito) at that time should have been mentioned in a sentence with him except Mosley and DLH.
Unbelievable. EVERYONE was calling for a Mayweather vs Cotto or a Mayweather vs Margarito fight. ESPN, HBO, The ring magazine and most importantly, the fans. The main point is, Floyd didn't fight any of the ranked welters besides zab judah (who as I mentioned just lost to baldy).

It looks like he had great foresight at knowing both Margarito and Cotto would at some point be exposed as overrated fighters.
Or he chose the easy path.

If Pac had success at the higher weight, why not explore the options there. Or just admit to taking the money and running. I can't knock him if he go back down. Plenty fights down there. I'd like to see him fight Nate Campbell.

Come on now, you really think Cotto or Margarito had a shot??? He didn't take the easy path, but the path that made sense. Bypassing fighters he and his corners knew he would outright flatten. Alot of great champions have passed on bouts with fighters that they considered unproven, Mayweather is no different than any of them. Maybe smarter since he has retired undefeated.

Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams, Clottey all had a hell of a lot more of a shot then Carlos Baldimor and Arturo Gatti that's for sure.

Bypassing fighters he and his corners knew he would outright flatten
Really?? So when he chose Gatti instead of any of the champs at 140, including ricky hatton at the time, they chose the harder path? lol they didn't think floyd would flatton gatti? Or when he chose to fight Carlos Baldomir instead of margarito, that was the more difficult challange?? give me a break!

He will be remembered for not fighting the best in his division and retiring with unfinished business at 147. I'm not making this stuff up there have been countless articles written about it and even his long time nutthuggers like Max Kellerman calling him out on TV over it.

listen, its mayweather's career, he could do whatever he likes I really don't care. My point was it was hypocritical for you to knock pacquiao's pound 4 pound status when floyd did the same, or actually far worse imo.

Pacquiao has been on a rampage fuckin everybody up the last few years. How can it be disputed that he's not p4p #1? If not, who is #1 then? LOL if you believe floyd he'll tell you chad dawson is #1, which is laughable. Calzaghe certainly isn't. Hopkins isn't. Marquez isn't. It's got to be pacquiao unless you believe there is no best fighter in the world.

At the time Mayweather fought Baldomir, Baldomir was considered the man at 147 after beating Judah. He was definitely ranked higher than Margarito was at the time, Williams was largely unknown at the time and had no credible wins to his name and Cotto hadn't yet made the move to 147lbs.

206... Me and you have a great difference of opinion but you make a pretty good debater (Even though you're off a lil bit), and you seem like a senseable cat though you're wrong in this one if you compare the body of work. IMO, Sounds like you'll just go with the lesser of the evils for your P4P cause Pac beating DLH don't cut it.

@559: Mosley won that fight hands down. Check the fight, Cotto looked pretty beat up in that fight. You got your opinion just like I got mine. Cotto stole the fight from the old lion only because Mosley didn't knock him out, and Cotto was supposed to be the more bankable, and your seein how that turned out. LOL

Yeah it's cool, we'll just have to disagree on this topic.

IMO, Sounds like you'll just go with the lesser of the evils for your P4P cause Pac beating DLH don't cut it.
Pac was pound 4 pound #1 before beating oscar though, so even if you think oscar was weight drained, too old, too homosexual, etc., it doesn't take anything away from Pac being #1. Once Mayweather retired, someone had to be inserted into the #1 spot, and Pac has proved to be the best fighter out there. It's not just me, it's everyone's p4p list (espn, yahoo sports, the ring magazine, boxingscene.com, etc. all have pac #1. It's universal).

I don't know where mayweathers bitching comes from, he's always talked shit about pacquiao but the thing he doesn't understand is it doesn't matter if mayweather is even right that his career is so much better than pacquiao's because he is retired and not in the rankings so the comparison means nothing in regards to today's pound 4 pound list.
