so clottery lost to margarito and who else?
He was beating Margarito easily in the first half of the fight but broke his hand in rounds 4 or 5, then margarito went on to take control (clottey's output dropped dramatically after the busted hand).

And the only other loss is to Carlos Baldomir....Clottey was whoopin his ass easily but got disqualified for a low blow in the 9th round.

So really, you can make a case that he really hasn't lost a fair fight. The only real question is if he would have beat margarito if he hadn't broke his hand because margarito does tend to be a slow starter, so you never really know. Other than that though, basically the guy is undefeated. The baldomir loss was a joke

The much-anticipated Miguel Cotto-Joshua Clottey welterweight unification bout has been agreed to, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com. Clottey signed his contract more than a week ago, but Arum was waiting on Cotto. But Arum said he worked out the details with Cotto's camp this week and the fight is on. It will take place at Madison Square Garden on June 13 (HBO), the eve of the annual Puerto Rican Day parade in New York. Puerto Rico's Cotto has fought regularly on that weekend and Clottey, of Ghana, lives in New York. "Everything is agreed to and the paperwork is going back and forth," Arum said. "There will be a press conference April 14 in New York."

Dangerous Dangerous fight for Cotto. Clottey is not a walk in the park type of fight, and he definitely aint a tune up for any fighter so Cotto better come prepared to do battle for 12 rounds with one of the welterweights most feared fighters for good reason.

Miguel Cotto and Trainer/Uncle Brawl During Camp

By Mark Vester

A heated relationship between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and trainer/uncle Evangelista Cotto reached a boiling point during a day of training camp on Wednesday afternoon in Puerto Rico. The relationship between the two may be over. In the past the two have had disputes during camp, but nothing like this.

According to several reports from major news outlets and newspapers in Puerto Rico, a verbal dispute led to a brawl between Cotto and his uncle. At around 3:15PM, before a packed Bairoa Gym in Caguas, Puerto Rico, the two were involved in a heated argument over the training plan for Cotto's upcoming bout against Joshua Clottey on June 13 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Miguel had a new training plan that Evangelista did not agree with, leading to a serious war of words. Cotto would go on to fire his uncle as trainer.

According to Primera Hora, about thirty minutes after being fired, the drama would escalate. Evangelista attacked Miguel, who in turn defended himself by throwing punches back. A police spokesperson told the paper that Miguel suffered a cut on top of his nose. After the two were separated, Miguel went back to his apartment, where Evangelista would follow and the drama continued.

The paper wrote that things got uglier when uncle/ex-trainer would throw a cement block in the direction of Cotto. The block missed the fighter, but went through the window of his car, a new jaguar. Police were called to the scene and two men may file charges against each other.

Cotto issues statement

By Gerardo M. Avila-Planas

Miguel Cotto has issued a statement to the press concerning his incident with his uncle/trainer. The same, revealed through El Nuevo Dia Newspaper states the following…”This afternoon, after concluding my training session for my next fight, I sustained an incident with my uncle Evangelista Cotto. This is a family and very personal matter, which is why I ask that you give me the space and respect in my intimacy needed to cope with situation. Let it be known that as of this moment Evangelista Cotto will no longer form part of my corner, but at the same time, you should all rest assured that I will continue to work tirelessly for my next scheduled fight in June, where I will successfully defend my title with pride for all Puerto Ricans.”

Miguel Cotto, Evangelista Face Criminal Charges

By Mark Vester

Wednesday's brawl, between WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and uncle/trainer Evangelista Cotto, will have legal consequences. As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Cotto and his uncle came to blows at 3:15PM on Wednesday at the Bairoa Gym in Caguas, Puerto Rico after a dispute over a new training plan that was presented by Miguel.

Initially it was heated verbal dispute, but when Miguel fired his uncle - violence erupted. Evangelista attacked Miguel, who fired back with his own punches. The two would eventually cool down but the drama continued later in the day when the physical battle continued at Miguel's apartment and also on the street, with Evangelista launching a cement block at Miguel, missing the fighter and breaking the window of his 2009 jaguar. The physcal confrontation continued until the police arrived. Miguel suffered a cut on his nose and Evangelista was taken to the hospital.

BoxingScene posted Cotto's comments on the brawl in an earlier news brief, where the fighter confirmed that his uncle would no longer be his trainer. Dr. Michelle Ramirez, who treated Evangelista in the emergency room of the hospital, told El Nuevo Dia that the trainer suffered a broken nose, cervical trauma and chest pains.

According to Quiñones Flores of the Police Department in the District of Caguas, Miguel could face charges of aggravated assault for the damage he inflicted on his uncle/trainer. Additionally, Evangelista is also facing possible charges of assault, and destruction of property with respect to Miguel's apartment and automobile. Neither Miguel or Evangelista have expressed any interest in pressing charges, but Flores says the two men broke the law with their violent incidents. Elba Rivera Melendez has been assigned as the prosecutor to investigate the case.

"We are going to cite a case because there was an exchange of punches and a crime was committed. As police officers we have to address the situation because there were calls and a complaint," Flores said.

Naazim Richardson is dope. Best in between round speeches ever ! Haha...

Naazim Richardson said:
"This guy ain't used to getting it back to the body. Take that jab, keeping popping them up, stab him in the heart, rip around them sides. We're gonna show him how a guy slows down. When he hits the pedal, ain't gonna be no gas in the car at the end of this… run your combinations, knock the grease off this dude. Then swim without getting wet. Slide to your stick, slide to your angle." – Naazim during Mosley vs. Margarito

"Ain't nobody ever jab with this joker, and they made this joker a superstar. He ain't never faced nobody with a jab yet, and they already made him a star!" – Naazim during Hopkins vs. Pavlik

"Stay up in the pocket like a quarterback, and fire. Step up in the pocket, I need you ten yards down… X, they're gonna give him this fight!" – Naazim during Hopkins vs. Taylor II

That would be a good idea, but I'm not sure how this is going to affect Miguel mentally, changing trainers in the middle of camp. Honestly though, it doesn't look like he gets much more than some extra motivation during training from his Uncle.

I believe I heard him say that on the 24/7 series before he fought Margarito.

^^they've always had problems, but never like this. Plus, Cotto officially fired his ass. He's done as his trainer. Cotto needs someone in the corner with him, maybe he'll just use a friend or family member but it definitely wont be his uncle, his uncle had a baseball bat and threw a brick at him! Basically tried to kill him, it's pretty serious.

Naazim is sick. One of the best out.

Freddie Roach would be another good option, but I"m sure he's pretty tied up right now. Cotto might also want a spanish speaking trainer, so I dunno.

Okay, I got Miguelito winning this one by decision. Its gonna be a close fight, but I think he'll steal enough of the early rounds with his boxing to get the nod.

Clottey is gonna get dropped if he comes in aggressive. The size is not much of a difference at all and yall will see this will be totally different then the Cotto/Margarito fight.
