^^Shoulda kept Marty. He aint had many great qb's hence the bad playoff record. Bernie Kosar wasn't great, Joe Montana had a lil bit left in the tank. He made the wrong decision wit Elvis Grbac. Brees was young. But wit Philip Rivers being a truly elite qb, he could do something wit that.

do you even have insider?

The prevailing speculation this offseason had been that LaDainian Tomlinson's tenure with the Chargers would come to a close. That became official Monday afternoon, according to the team.

As for Tomlinson's next team -- if he does go the Emmitt Smith route and looks for employment elsewhere -- there could be some interest around the league for teams that need a backup with receiving skills. We previously speculated on some teams that would use LT in a complementary role (including the Vikings, Jags, Titans, Packers, 49ers), but is there a team that would use him even more than that? The Lions need such a player, although they wouldn't satisfy his craving for playing for a contender. The Texans have been brought up and dismissed since Monday, but what about the Eagles? The team released Brian Westbrook on Tuesday. Interesting timing on that one, perhaps they'll make a quick move for LT? Or how about the Bears, since Walter Payton is Tomlinson's boyhood idol?

An interesting option was brought up by Nate Davis of USA Today: the Falcons, where his former backup Michael Turner is the current starter. Don't write the Redskins off, either. They didn't contend very well in 2009, but NFC East blogger Matt Mosley thinks one key change this offseason might've changed LT's appraisal of them. Meanwhile, NFL Insider Adam Schefter e-mailed with another idea late Monday night:

there you go, no trade, and since he aint on SD anymore they cant even trade him

Falcons seem like the more fitting team for LT, since LT wants to play for a team with a good QB. Matt Ryan isn't the best in the league right now, but he's good, and could be on his way up. Chris Owens going to have to give up the #21 lol

the thread title was misleading. id like to have norwood though. the only problem is that with this new free agency thing the chargers are only allowed to sign one during this off season. it would be nice if the falcons tagged norwood then traded him here for cromartie and a third round pick. atlanta can use a corner

LT to the Vikings would be a nice fit, especially if Favre comes back... perfect compliment to AD and hopefully someone who can knock some sense into his head about holding onto the ball & provide veteran leadership that Chester Taylor lacks in a #2 role... they're most likely not resigning Taylor anyway.
