I think its derogatory, it means things are being changed and added just to please the audience. I don't think that's happening at all, this is just the source material finally starting to head towards the conclusion. I think the shows doing great because every episode is way too short and i want more and more. If there is any fan service (Brienne being at castle black and the interactions with Tormund sticks out) well what's the big deal? Shits funny and adds to the show.

He said something to Cersei, and next thing you know Cersei and Jamie are at the small council meeting like bats out of hell.
