This Baltimore Ravens Tommy Z thing is getting a little out of hand.
I've never seen such a highly promoted 2-0 fighter. The guy is getting a little too much of the lime light.

I get it, he plays football.
The people 2 beat, he could have beat without even training.

lara is better than that. his promoter or whoever failed him because he takes the right step in fighting gary brewer then they go backwards and feed him four bums in a row who he ko's all in the first round. that doesn't teach him anything he learns nothing. so tonight its like he was looking for that big punch instead of using strategy.

Angel Hernandez DQ’d, Joey Hernandez Wins, Riot Erupts

By Joe Harrison

Former junior middleweight contender Angel “Toro” Hernandez (30-10, 17 KOs) was disqualified at the end of round eight against Joey “Twinkle Fingers” Hernandez (18-1-1, 10 KOs) for swinging after the bell on Friday night at Hanging Gardens Banquets in River Grove, IL. The scheduled ten-round contest for the vacant USBO belt was part of a duel-feature at Chicago Fight Night presented by Chicago Fight Clubs Promotion LLC.

At first, Angel was well-composed as he took the fight to Joey, but a quick left hand staggered Angel in the beginning of round two. They began to exchange frequently while Angel appeared to get the better of Joey when suddenly Angel was dropped in the closing seconds of the round. Angel did not seem hurt as he got back to his feet and went to his corner at the sound of the bell.

They continued to trade punches in round three as both landed hard punches. Angel’s punches were connecting often although he continued to swing while referee John O’Brien broke their clinches. Then Angel was deducted a point for excessive swinging during a break. Meanwhile, verbal exchanges began to ensue between separate groups of spectators.

Joey took command in rounds four and five as he landed numerous crisp punches. After a collision of heads, blood appeared near the eyes of both combatants.

The exchanges continued while both fighters landed hard punches, and it seemed that Angel’s aggression was paying off. Angel was also given a warning for throwing punches low.

In round eight, Angel continued to land but also threw a pair of punches below the belt. Joey was given a few minutes to recuperate as spectators continued to harass each other. Shorty after the action resumed, another time out was called by O’Brien and he pleaded with the fighters to be professional since they both continued to swing during a break. After the bell sounded ending the eighth round, Angel took another swing at Joey, and O’Brien disqualified Angel.

At the moment the contest was called off, Joey ran over to a corner and jumped onto a turnbuckle to rejoice in victory. Suddenly, Angel charged him from behind and struck him in the back of the head. Then cornermen from both sides jumped into the ring followed by more people from all sides of the ring, which added to the ruckus. Fans also joined in at ringside as others charged each other. The anarchy seemed to get worse as women picked up chairs to use as weapons, but security quickly took control of the riot inside and outside of the ring. Then the disturbance was brought to an end and the agitators were escorted out. Following the incident, the other main feature was allowed to begin.

Garcia's offense looked great. His defense lacked a little. I would be worried about putting him in there with a puncher at this point. Solid chin though. Great fighter, still young as well. Remillard was game.

well, gamboa has wanted to fight lopez for some time but bob arum is milking both of them. I don't think juanma is scared it's just that top rank views juanma is their next possible cashcow. puerto ricans love him.

bob arum said recently though that because juanma wants to move to 130 pounds he wants to make gamboa-lopez at the end of the year, so lets hope for it.

that's probably the 3rd best fight that can be made in boxing (after floyd-pac and haye-klitschko).

should be a crazy ass fight. I think gamboa's speed will be too much for him, but juanma is pretty beastly himself so who knows.

Gamboa looked SPECTACULAR. People don't do that to Solis, just doesn't happen. The reason Arum doesn't put him in the ring with Lopez isn't because Lopez is scared, it's because Arum is. Ever seen Lopez fight in Puerto Rico? Not one empty seat in the crowd, in whatever stadium he fights in, whoever he fights.. You don't give up a cash cow like that easily.

Pirog honestly fought uninterested against Maciel and almost paid for it. Maciel caught Pirog clean to the body plenty and Pirog was visibly bothered by it on more than one occasion. Hopefully Pirog doesn't have that "I made it" syndrome. He didn't look as smooth with his upper body movement and just didn't have that overall ring presence. Hopefully it was just a case of fighting at home and coming in "lazy". (*NOTE* .. you can watch the whole card on www.espn3.com under replay with 2008 Dominican gold medalist Felix Diaz fighting, 2008 bronze medalist heavyweight Glazkov took the biggest step up in his 8-0 career and 21-0 Rahimov fought in 12 rounder.)

Molina is better than that as well. Dude's made everyone he fought look like that and honestly Lara's lucky that Molina was out the ring so long. It was a tight decision that I had Molina winning 96-94. I figured Molina would give him trouble but I still expected him to win, was kind of disappointed but much props to Lara.

I think that's the end of my weekend rant.
