I still can't believe Ward/Dawson was made that easily and that Dawson is moving down to 168. I bet he has trouble getting down to the weight. He's gonna be pretty drawn out but will have a good size advantage
Also agreeing to fight in Oakland. Ward will win anyway though. Should still be a good fight. Got Em!!

More Mexicans hate Argentinos than Pacquiao, that's for damn sure...
They hate Puerta Rican's more than Pac fasho. Got Em!!

Pure Business, So Bradley "Won" (Steps to Take)

By Reni M. Valenzuela - Boxing will not run out of controversies because boxing is no longer a sport, but pure business. And that mainly caused its demise as the Sweet Science it used to be. Yet crocodiles are well and alive in the squared ring events these days, alas, ever feasting on the game.

The latest joke is bad, so bad for boxing..

Manny Pacquiao “lost” when he should have clearly won the fight yesterday versus Timothy Bradley just as he “won” over Juan Manuel Marquez when he should have lost the last time they fought. In both highly controversial matchups, the same “astute” promoter appears to be the common denominator. Hence we can only make our imaginations wander and work for the life of the sport.

The worldwide indignation and frustration over the official verdict that Bradley won against Pacquiao by a decision has been intense and resonant, so much so that the people are fired up to make their piece of thought heard because they now begin to see things as they are like never before. They once again realized they were duped.

Much of media is coming out of its closets. And it’s great.

The good news is that something phenomenal is springing forth from this latest controversy. Boxing, just like Lazarus, seems to show some signs of life and I envision the sport as a lifeless mummy trying to get up on its own, and out of its tomb.

Boxing can’t just sit idly by. A strong “one voice” by the people is needed to revive the sport. Plus, a widespread protest by the entire boxing community is in order. The immediate steps to take are as follows:

First is certain responsible persons in the just concluded welterweight championship bout must be probed and sanctioned way beneath the surface of the three judges’ scorecards. Second is the WBO belt should be given back to Pacquiao and declare him the true winner to reverse the earlier judgment by blind masseurs. Third is the Pacquiao-Bradley rematch should not be allowed to happen unless two conditions are met: that Bradley and Marquez should be shipped out of Top Rank to be back to their former promotional outfits from where they were pirated shortly before they engaged Pacquiao; that the Pacquiao-Mayweather and Pacquiao-Marquez IV should be staged ahead of the Pacquiao-Bradley II.

Such are the initial steps to break free from a schemer’s clutch. If liberty you cherish.

Roach gushes over Pacquiao, says this was the best he’s looked since the Cotto fight
June 10th, 2012

By Chris Williams: In a sign of a trainer in deep denial, Freddie Roach says he was incredibly impressed with the performance of his fighter WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao in his 12 round split decision loss to unbeaten Timothy Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) last Saturday night.

Speaking to boxing writer Chris Robinson at Examiner.com, Roach said “I thought this was one of the best fights since the Cotto fight.”

The best since Cotto? Is Roach kidding? If you take a look at how Pacquiao fought against Cotto, and then watch how he performed last night in a plodding performance against Bradley, it’s like night and day. The Pacquiao that beat Cotto would have destroyed Bradley last night. I admit that. Pacquiao was damn good in the Cotto fight, and moved around the ring like a young puppy. But something happened after that fight, because Pacquiao hasn’t moved like ever since.

All I can think is that he suddenly got old from that one fight. Getting hit with the huge shots from Cotto can do that to you. Pacquiao won that fight, but not before Cotto got in a lot of hard licks. Pacquiao isn’t a naturally big fighter to begin with, and you have a rolls Royce type fighter like Cotto tagging you in the head, it’s going to do something to you. Pacquiao has pretty much been a plodder since he fought Joshua Clottey.

This isn’t the best that Pacquiao has fought since the Cotto fight, and not even close. Pacquiao was better against Joshua Clottey than he was last night. It seems that with each progressing fight, Pacquiao looks worse and worse. He’s not getting better that’s for sure. Pacquiao’s legs looked wooden, as if they were heavy and full of cement. How can Roach say that Pacquiao fought like he did in the Cotto fight. There’s no comparisons.

If look at Pacquiao’s fight last night you can see that he was only capable of fighting hard for one minute of every round, usually in the last part of the round. He was using an Arthur Abraham trick where he would rest for the first two minutes and then try and steal the round with 30 second to a 1 minute left in the round.

That’s what old fighters like to do, guys that can no longer fight the full three minutes of every round. The Pacquiao that beat Cotto in 2009 was able to fight for the full three minutes at an extremely fast pace. Pacquiao was impressive back then, but that fighter is gone now. He’s now a fighter that can’t hop around at all, and instead has to plod around like a heavyweight needing long rest breaks between action.

Khan: Pacquiao got robbed! I want Bradley
June 10th, 2012

By William Mackay: Amir Khan took in the Manny Pacquiao – Tim Bradley fight last Saturday night, and he was unhappy with the result of the fight. Khan felt that his close friend Pacquiao got jobbed by the judges. Khan thought it was a clear win for Pacquiao despite the fact that the fight was incredibly close.

Khan said on his twitter “What a robbery. Bradley did not win this fight. The crowd are booing. If Bradley wants it, I’m ready. He turned me down twice. After I beat [Danny] Garcia, I will offer Bradley the fight for the 3rd time.”

Khan seems to be a little unclear on the obstacles that would get in the way of a Bradley fight. Even if Bradley wanted to fight Khan, and he obviously does, he can’t because he fights for Top Rank and Khan fights for Golden Boy. That’s all that needs to be said. There probably won’t be a fight between Khan and Bradley until Bradley is no longer with Top Rank or Khan joins up with them so that the fight can be an in house fight.

The pro-Pacquiao crowd of course was booing the decision handed down by the judges last night, because these were Pacquiao fans after all. You could see that just by watching the action. The crowd cheered every time Pacquiao threw a punch. It didn’t matter whether Pacquiao would land or not, the crowd still cheered loudly for every swing. But when Bradley threw punches and landed, the crowd were completely silent. The true way of evaluating who really won the fight was to turn off the sound, which is what I did. When I turned the sound off, I had Bradley winning the bout by narrow margin. But when I watched with the sound on, I had Pacquiao winning because of all the screaming from Pacquiao’s fans each time he’d throw anything.

Khan continued “What a joke. We had Manny winning by 5 rounds. Bradley, how about you take the fight with me in December after I clean up at 140lbs weight.”

That’s disappointing that Khan had Pacquiao winning by five rounds. That tells you he watched the fight with the sound on, and was probably influenced by the crowd.

Even if Khan beats Garcia, he still won’t have cleaned up the light welterweight division. There’s still the following light welterweights that Khan would still have to fight before he’s cleaned up the division:

Tim Bradley
Mike Alvarado
Lucas Matthysse
Humberto Soto
Ajose Olusegun
Marcos Maidana – with a different referee that doesn’t step in to separate the action when Khan gets hurt

Conspiracy Theory - Arum wanted Pacquiao knocked off?! I simply can't buy into this...
By Steve Kim, MaxBoxing (June 11, 2012) Doghouse Boxing

I've heard that perhaps Top Rank and Boxing promoter Bob Arum wanted to get Manny Pacquiao knocked off and they were behind this unpopular decision. Uh, yeah, the only problem with that Oliver Stone-esque theory in my opinion is that there is a very limited upside for Timothy Bradley in terms of being a crossover star that Pacquiao has become. And unless someone can show me some real evidence that Manny's deal with Top Rank was ending and seriously contemplating leaving, I simply can't buy into this.

Just my opinion, if they were going to cash out Pacquiao, it would be in a fight with Floyd Mayweather for all the marbles, not Bradley. And by the way, Pacquiao is pretty damn important to Top Rank. Them getting him beat on purpose is akin to the OKC Thunder trading away Kevin Durant.

And do you think for one moment that based on public reaction and how that fight played out that Pacquiao's contractual minimums will really change?

Sometimes a bad decision is just that- a bad decision. And nothing more

Roger Mayweather says he Hates Manny Pacquiao but he won & Arum is to blame for Controversy
By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing (June 11, 2012) Doghouse Boxing

Roger Mayweather tweets he hates Pacquiao, he won, Arum is to blame.
By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. - For most everyone, the match-up Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothey Bradley is controversial because the spilt decision victory for Bradley is not sitting well with most fans and observers.

Even tough Pacman critic Roger Mayweather, uncle and trainer to Floyd "Money" Mayweather, feels Pacquiao won the fight, but blames Bob Arum (Pacquiao's promoter) for the loss.

In a tweet that posted by Roger, the veteran trainer stated he hates Pacquiao, but can't lie about who won. Roger tweeted: "Can't lie i hate Manny but he did beat the shit out of Bradley. But like i said it's no one to blame but Bob Arum."

Marquez vs. Morales on September 15, 2012

By Vitali Shaposhnikov: Due to Manny Pacquiao’s loss to Timothy Bradley this past Saturday night, it seems like Juan Manuel Marquez might have to wait a little bit longer for another chance at facing Pacquiao again. Team Pacquiao will now be directing their efforts and time into getting the decision either reversed, or a rematch actualized.

Instead, it looks as though Marquez will now face Erik Moralez on Spetember 15, 2012. (http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/more-pacquiao-bradley-fallout-118049)

I don’t know about you, but I can see this being an exciting and explosive match. For Marquez it is a chance at earning a pretty hefty paycheck as well as get another big name victory under his belt, and for Morales it’s a sure way to skyrocket his stock back to the top. While the benefit of this fight would be much bigger for Morales, it is a pretty good next option for Marquez as well.

Both fighters have their own armies of fans, and I would expect this event to sell out at Garden Arena, if that’s where they would end up hosting the fight. Of course I am fully aware that technically speaking, Morales would be a huge underdog, and most money bet would have the name of Marquez attached to it as the winner. Having said that, I would never count out a warrior like Morales in any fight. At the right weight with the right incentive, he is capable of being extremely competitive, and I can see Marquez struggling with Morale’s style.

If September is when they are planning on making the fight, they are already running on a very tight schedule. I assume we can expect to hear the final details by the end of this week.

By Chris Williams: Tim Bradley fought and beat Manny Pacquiao last Saturday night, and he came away from the fight less than impressed with him. I guess Bradley was expecting Pacquiao to be a monster after watching him beat guys like Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

Bradley said this about Pacquiao as quoted by thesun.co.uk “I thought I won. I didn’t think he was as good as everyone says he was. I didn’t feel his power.”

That’s the thing. Pacquiao isn’t really a big puncher. Even Oscar De La Hoya noted that in his fight with Pacquiao in 2008. What made Pacquiao so good in the past was his blazing hand speed and high work. When he was younger, Pacquiao would overwhelm his mostly over-matched opposition with nonstop combinations that were thrown with such speed that it was almost impossible to track or block. But the Pacquiao that fought Bradley was one that could only fight in brief spurts near the ends of the round.

The Timothy Bradley -vs- Manny Pacquiao 2 (rematch) poster was already made 2 weeks ago

by Jason Lisk

Are you ready for Manny Pacquiao – Timothy Bradley II? Timothy Bradley tweeted out this photo back on May 29th, 11 days before the fight that was so controversial that it demands a rematch.*
As you can tell from the poster, the match is set for November 10, and the tickets – hey, what do you know – are available right now.

Posted Image

At this point, we should remind you that Bob Arum is the promoter for both Pacquiao and Bradley. If this had been scored a decisive victory for Pacquiao, there is no rematch or at least one that is desired by the public. Arum acted upset after the fight, saying he had it 10 rounds to 2 for Pacquiao. He also told Kevin Iole, “This is a death knell for boxing, and I’m going to make a ton of money on the rematch.”

Yeah, well, Arum’s product, for which they were already publishing rematch posters, became far more relevant – and despite the protests the sport of boxing is being talked about this morning – because of what happened early Sunday morning in Las Vegas.

Oh, and then there was this picture of Timothy Bradley in a wheelchair at the post fight press conference. Nothing says dominance like a wheelchair. Honestly, at this point, all we need is Mean Gene Okerlund.
*not really, at least as to “the demanding a rematch” part

I swear you couldn't write this shit, not only do they not hide the fact it was a complete robbery and Arum all over Bradley's nuts after the fight and saying let's do it again whilst admitting he makes a shit load of money off it..

Schaefer: Canelo vs. Ortiz - Leave The Judges at Home!

By Rick Reeno

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed an earlier report on BoxingScene.com, regarding the possibility of Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22KOs) challenging WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Ortiz, a former WBC welterweight champion, was always considered a big, strong fighter at 140. Ortiz's last two fights took place at 147-pounds and he certainly retained his power and physical strength with the move in weight.

Physically, Canelo and Ortiz are very similar. Both boxers stand at 5'9 and Canelo has a one-inch reach advantage - 71 to 70. Canelo would have the edge in power, with Ortiz being the quicker of the two. In terms of their styles matching up, a knockout ending is certainly a bet worth taking.

"That would be a barnburner. If Canelo would fight Victor Ortiz - it can only be an exciting fight. That would be one of those fights that going into, where you can probably leave the judges at home and based on what we've seen on Saturday [with Pacquiao-Bradley] - that might be a good thing," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

However, there is still some unfinished business before Ortiz can fully focus on a fight with Canelo. On June 23rd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Ortiz will face the very durable Josesito Lopez (29-4, 17KOs) in a Showtime televised main event.

Roach gushes over Pacquiao, says this was the best he’s looked since the Cotto fight
