Let's be honest fam may weather did duck Paul Williams nobody wanted to fight him at 147 154
And that was during the time Floyd retired. Williams wasn't anyone until he beat Margarito at the end of 2007, right before Floyd fought Ricky Hatton in December of 2007. Floyd retired after that fight, Williams lost his next fight to Carlos Quintana and when Floyd returned in 2009, Williams was fighting at middleweight. Narrow split nod over Martinez and then KTFO by Martinez. Ducking? No. But was Floyd really retired or just taking a break when the division was hot? I say the latter. I'll always be critical of that from Floyd, he should have been fighting those guys instead of taking an extended vacation.

I always thought it wasn't a good idea for Williams to jump around in three weight classes. The reason he got the Margarito fight at 147 was because he was Margarito's mandatory. Once he started weight class jumping he lost any mandatory positions and his rankings at 147 because he never returned to the weight class, so he couldn't force guys like Cotto, etc to fight him. I wish he would have stuck at 147 the fucking size difference was huge! Damn shame what happened, the Canelo fight would have been interesting, but by then he wasn't looking as good, got absolutely schooled by Lara shortly after getting KOd by Sergio.

And before the states he was being ducked by then champ Felix Sturm, who GGG was mandatory to for TWO years. Also on two occasions N'dam was ordered to a purse bid to fight GGG but N'dam never showed up.

The IBF just officially stripped Jermaine Taylor of his title. So that vacant title will now be fought for by the two next highest ranked available fighters, ironically that is N'dam and Felix Sturm. However I don't think Sturm is going to take it as he'll make more money fighting zee German's, so the next guy up is Billy Joe Saunders, so it's looking like it will be N'dam vs Saunders for the IBF strap (Sturm has until Monday to decide).
So Sturm passed like I thought, and now it's N'dam vs Billy Joe Saunders for the IBF Middleweight title. Looks like Saunders is going to take it. Talk about good timing for him, he just got paid six figures in step aside money so that Peter Quillin could get a shot at Andy Lee, and Saunders still gets a title shot. If for whatever reason Saunders would decline (if he doesn't want to lose his WBO mandatory position for example) the next man up would be David Lemieux.

N'Dam-Saunders Ordered By The IBF For Vacant Title - Boxing News
Ok here we go....

So Saunders has also passed on the IBF title, apparently when he took the Al Haymon step aside money, part of the deal is that he'll fight on the Andy Lee vs Peter Quillin undercard and he will fight the winner for the WBO Title.

Next man in line is David Lemieux who on Twitter today says he accepted and it's on. So finally we have a fight. N'dam vs Lemieux for the vacant IBF Middleweight title.

I'm Going After Anyone And Everyone At 160 Pounds - Peter Quillin
February 16, 2015

Peter Quillin will surely give Andy Lee a very hard time when Lee makes his first defense against him. The fight will take place April 11, 2015 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Which NBC will televise as part of the 'Premier Boxing Champions' series. Quillin had to vacate his title and guess who ending up getting it. Mr. Andy Lee himself.

Quillin had to drop the belt due to personal reasons. He was supposed to face mandatory challenger Matt Korobov. Being as though Quillin dropped the belt it gave Lee the opportunity to knockout Matt Korobov and capture the belt.

When fans heard Quillin vacated his title they voiced how they felt about it and didn't hold back. So now Quillin wants to make a statement in April. After that he wants to challenge all of the other champions in his weight class. Even with the winner of Quillin vs. Lee having to face Billy Joe Saunders. Saunders was kind of part of why this fight is happening because he took a step aside fee.

"To be able to fight at home in Brooklyn and win a title on such a big stage is a dream come true,"I'm honored and excited to be a part of something that is great for my career, but also for the sport of boxing as a whole. I know that I'm going to win on April 11, become champion once again, and then I'm going after anyone and everyone at 160 pounds." says Quillin.

Little cool piece of information came out. I'm always fascinated with gym wars. Anyways there's always been a rumor that GGG knocked down Kovalev in sparring. But yesterday on Twitter Doug Fischer confirmed he watched the video of GGG vs Kovalev sparring. What he said was that Golovkin knocked out Kovalev with a body shot. After that they never sparred each other again because John David Jackson said GGG goes too hard in sparring. So you can look at that two ways - GGG is a fucking beast and truly does hit hard as hell, and/or perhaps Kovalevs weakness is his body. Anyways, cool little info to note, obviously sparring is sparring and not a fight, still cool stuff regardless.

Beterbiev Vs. Campillo on the same card though. I'll take that.
surprised you didn't comment on the death of Friday Night Fights.

I understand the quality of this one card per month is probably going to be better than most cards on FNF's, but still this means it's limited only to Haymon fighters. So many fighters without a big promoter/manager made a name for themselves on Friday Night Fights, which of course opened many doors for them. Now that will be gone after May. Sad day imo.

I actually did comment on it. I'm at a hotel with shitty wifi and for some reason that post went through but the FNF one didn't.

Don't feel like typing it all up again but it is disappointing and surprising to be honest. I figured ESPN would give them a Friday and continue their business as usual the other 3 weeks out of the month. I'm guessing it's something in the contract that they can't air other promoters fights. I'm all for more fights on TV that Haymon is pulling off, but not a fan of the ESPN part of it.

same here man. Friday Night Fights has been apart of boxing for 17 years man. 17 years. This is crazy to me. So many classics. I don't like the idea of addition by subtraction. Sucks.
