And this is why Haymon has been bad for boxing. If LSC is getting $750k for fighting BUMS of COURSE he's going to ask for a crazy amount to actually fight someone really good. When Stevenson is getting over $2 million for fighting the Suckisky's of the world, of course he's going to want astronomical purses for guys like Pascal, Hopkins and Kovalev. These high paydays for fighting bums artificially inflates their value.

Bute with Al Haymon

Sources with knowledge of the details have advised BoxingScene.com that Canadian superstar Lucian Bute (31-2, 24KOs) has aligned himself with powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon.

Despite last year's setback against Jean Pascal in January, Bute is still regarded by most insiders in Canada as the most popular boxer in the country, especially in the Canadian boxing hotbed of Montreal.

Bute's last outing was a decision loss to Pascal in January 2014. He was scheduled to return on December 6th at the Bell Centre, but suffered a back injury in training and was forced to withdraw. After the loss to Pascal, Bute started training with Freddie Roach of the Wild Card Gym.

Although he suffered that recent loss, Bute's drawing power was still evident as the year closed out. While Bute was headlining the December date, the man who beat him, Pascal, was placed underneath as the co-feature.

Besides his worth in Canada, Bute is one of the most popular athletes in the country of his birth, Romania.

Another Canadian star is a part of Haymon's huge stable, WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson.

Haymon's big signing comes on the heels of Golden Boy Promotions' latest acquisition of middleweight puncher David Lemieux, who is popular in the country but not yet at the level of Bute, Pascal or Stevenson. Haymon and Golden Boy Promotions agreed to part ways two weeks ago, with nearly all of Haymon's fighters leaving Oscar De La Hoya's promotional banner.

After signing an army of talent in 2014, Haymon has acquired at least a dozen or more fighters since the start of 2015 and his new boxing series premieres on network television, NBC, on March 7th from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

WOW what an idiot!!!!!!

Jermain Taylor Arrested Again, Sergio Mora Fight Off

Middleweight titleholder Jermain Taylor has once again found himself in trouble, and that news coincides with word of the cancelation of his Feb. 6 defense against Sergio Mora.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette had the news of Taylor’s arrest, while boxing reporter Michael Woods of The Sweet Science spoke to promoter Lou DiBella, who said the bout is off and that Taylor fractured a rib, an injury that occurred a couple of days ago.

Apparently no one told DiBella’s press team, who sent out applications for media credentials at about 5:28 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday for the planned Feb. 6 show in Mississippi on ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights.”

The newspaper said Taylor was at an intersection in Little Rock on Monday afternoon when he allegedly shot a gun about five times. “Taylor has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault,” the article said. “The boxer has also been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of marijuana.”

Taylor was already facing a court date in another case. He entered a not guilty plea in the case stemming from an incident in which the middleweight titleholder allegedly shot his cousin and threatened another man in late August.

A hearing has been scheduled for May 29, and a jury trial is scheduled to take place on June 23 and June 24, according to online court records. Taylor is facing one felony count of first-degree battery and one felony count of first-degree terroristic threatening.

He was also accused last month of throwing a brick that struck a woman, a case he claimed was in self-defense. Online court records don’t yet list any charges.

DiBella: We're Very Concerned Over Taylor's Mental State

It has been reported earlier that middleweight titlist Jermain Taylor was detained and questioned for discharging a firearm in Little Rock, Arkansas on Monday afternoon.

There is even disturbing video of Taylor dancing at an event celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday before law enforcement placed him in custody.

Because of Taylor's latest run-in with the law, along with him being on probation for shooting his cousin last year, the 36-year-old will likely face more charges.

Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed to Boxingscene.com the February 6 IBF world middleweight title fight between Taylor and Sergio Mora is now off. The bout was slated to headline on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights from the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.

"This is very disturbing to me and his management (which includes Al Haymon)," DiBella told Boxingscene.com over the phone. "We're very concerned over his mental state and his health. His boxing career is a distant second right now and he has to deal with these ramifications."

"You try to do your best to help someone. I'm very upset and and disappointed (by today's events)."

DiBella also confirmed to Boxingscene.com that Taylor suffered a rib injury during sparring on Saturday. X-rays were taken and Taylor was going to be removed from the fight with Mora for those reasons.

"We were beginning to look for an opponent for Sergio," said DiBella.

Jermain Taylor back in jail. He released a bizarre video on Facebook of him in the bathtub talking about the reason why he was pissed is because there was no candy for the kids on the Martin Luther King parade, lol wtf this isn't Halloween!!!

Apparently some little kid wanted to take a picture with his title and Taylor was supposedly drunk, leaned over and dropped his belt, then started blaming the little kid who was like five. I guess the father got mad and Taylor pulled out his gun and put it to the man's head, the wife apparently jumped in and knocked his arm away from shooting the man and Taylor then shot several times in the air.

Dude is lost it. I'm sure he's suffering from CTE. Add that alcohol and possibly cocaine. He's done.

Danny-Garcia-PicThere have been recent reports Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson will be held at a catchweight, thus eliminating the elation of a unification bout at the 140-pound division. Despite this competitive bout being aired on NBC, criticism still resurfaced because of the aura of a meaningful fight had diminished to a certain extent. Boxing fans immediately showed their dissatisfaction through social media on the way this bout was being handled.

Now in a recent interview with Tha Boxing Voice, Garcia refutes the bout being held at 143 pounds. He explained, “Well the catchweight isn’t for sure. I’m a clear that up, that’s just something I brought up I shouldn’t have never said that. It might still be a unification bout.”

Even though there seems to be no contractual agreement on the weight limit just yet, Garcia reiterated the point he’s going to be fighting on April 11th against Peterson regardless of what weight the fight is held at. The initial thought process behind the catchweight was the fact that Garcia was coming off a long lay-off and was unsure if his body would still feel suitable to make 140 pounds. Garcia has been adamant in the past that he wants to eventually move up to the welterweight division.

When asked if he prefers the fight to be held at 143 or 140 pounds he expressed the weight is not imperative. He stated, “Danny Garcia is back in action and that’s all that matters.”

Monves was also questioned on whether Showtime head Stephen Espinoza’s job was on the line if the fight was not made.

“None whatsoever,” explained Monves. “There is no truth to that. We’re hoping the fight happens but no truth whatsoever (regarding Espinoza).”

BERTO VS. LOPEZ AND PORTER VS. GARCIA ON SPIKE TV

Sources close to the information have informed us that a press conference will be held this week to officially announce that Spike TV is adding boxing to their programming lineup. We're told that influential advisor Al Haymon has reached a deal with the network to televise several bouts featuring a number of his fighters. In fact, according to one source, the first event will take place on March 13 and will feature former welterweight champion Andre Berto taking on Josesito Lopez, and former welterweight champion Shawn Porter facing Roberto Garcia. All four fighters are signed with Haymon.

The news comes just one week after executives from NBC held a press conference to announce their joint venture with Haymon Boxing to bring boxing back to network television with their new Premier Boxing Champions series. Be sure to check back soon as more specific details of the announcement become known.

Andre Berto vs Joseito Lopez March 13the on Spike TV.

Basically one Friday a month Haymon fighters will be on Spike TV, that's the deal I read about. So Spike TV will have MMA on one Friday, Kickboxing the other Friday and Boxing on the third Friday. The fourth Friday will have some promo stuff to get to know the fighters, behind the scenes etc, so that is the Spike deal.

Not sure what this all entails but I'm loving all these new deals to show boxing. They say it's not going to show live boxing off the bat but I'll take delayed air shows or delayed broadcasts of undercards we don't get to see. In 2015 on U.S. TV we're looking to have boxing broadcasts on HBO, Showtime, NBC, NBC Sports, ESPN, Spike TV, BeIN Sports, Fox Sports 1, Fox Deportes, Telemundo, UniMas, Azteca America, AWE TV. That's incredible.

Oscar De La Hoya, the former six-division titleholder, International Boxing Hall of Famer and head of Golden Boy Promotions, is launching De La Hoya TV, a Spanish-language sports, travel and lifestyle cable television channel.

De La Hoya, who is partnering with Mexican businessman and boxing promoter Jose Alberto "Pepe" Gomez and media executive and Fashion TV Latin America partner Victor Hugo Montero, announced the launch on Wednesday at the National Association of Television Program Executives annual conference in Miami.

The channel is scheduled for launch in the spring and De La Hoya and his partners are talking to cable and satellite systems about carriage deals.

De La Hoya said the channel will offer news, analysis and original programming surrounding combat sports, including boxing and mixed marital arts, in addition to featuring entertainment, travel, lifestyle and news on international sports.

"De La Hoya TV will be the premiere authority on boxing and other combat sports, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes look into the world and lifestyles of their favorite athletes," said De La Hoya, who has taken the title of chairman of De La Hoya TV. "The network aims to inspire all to live the life of a champion, delivering exceptional insight into the athletes and featuring entertainment, global destinations, news and more."

Said Gomez, De La Hoya TV's executive chairman, "The popularity of combat sports continues to grow throughout the United States, Latin America and the globe, and now fans will finally have a unique resource to get news and analysis through De La Hoya TV."

At its launch, De La Hoya TV, which will be based in Miami, will focus on Spanish-language content for the U.S. Hispanic market, De La Hoya said. Eventually, De La Hoya said there would also be English-language content.

"In my decades of working in television, I've seen few opportunities to connect with an untapped market with such an exponential opportunity for growth," said Montero, the De La Hoya TV CEO and general manager who launched Venezuela's first cable channel, Sun Channel Tourism Television. "For over a year we have worked on this project and are focused on expanding content from Spanish to include English and make it available to a larger audience, all to serve the consumer's appetite."

There are no plans for the channel to include live sports programming.

Lol Pascal is one of the biggest idiots out there. Accused Kovalev of using PEDs, said he would pay for Kovalev's drug testing yada yada yada, then Kovalev agrees and Pascal no longer willing to pay for VADA, only some small unknown drug agency in Canada.

Pascal Won't Pay For VADA, Team Kovalev Claim PR Stunt - Boxing News

nd Pascal is the one who works with Memo. He looks shady now completely because VADA is more thorough since they do CIR testing on all fighters, other agencies don't unless there is some kind of suspicion based on a trigger.
