I was reading on ESPN about this NBC deal and the headliners are expected to make seven figures for this fight. So much money is being spent on this card alone it makes me wonder how much tickets will cost, a commercial spot will cost, how much the undercards are getting paid etc. Besides just the Ali Act, I feel he is just too shady, bro.

Your hatred for Al Haymon is unhealthy.

I'd favor Herrera over Peterson.

Peterson fails every time out in a "big" fight. Only decent win he's lodged is a debatable and narrow hometown win over Khan where he was likely hopped up on synthetic testosterone.

Provodkinov and Algieri Both Turn Down Fights Against Porter
James Lopez

download (1)Tha Boxing Voice has recently been informed by reliable sources with knowledge to the situation that both Chris Algieri and Ruslan Provodkinov turned down the option to compete against Shawn Porter. The Porter camp has been adamant in returning to the ring as soon as possible, and there were rumors of a Shawn Porter vs. Roberto Garcia match coming into fruition, but it doesn’t appear to be true.

Currently Porter (24-1-1, 15 KOs) is still left without an opponent to compete against, and hasn’t stepped into the ring since August 16 of 2014. They have made it abundantly clear in the past that they are willing to face any top level opposition in early 2015, and are still awaiting for an opportunity to present itself
The rumors are Matthysse vs Ruslan and Algieri vs Crawford. So that's why Porter isn't getting a fight with these guys.

It wasn't likely, he truly was, they even admitted that. Khan didn't fight the best fight, fighting toe to toe instead of boxing, but remember that ref "Throw the Thunder_ or whatever his corny catch phrase is, deducted two points from Khan for clinching, that's the only reason he lost on the scorecards.

Fat Dan chat wrap 1/16:

- Will the winner of Stiverne-Wilder be Klitschko's next opponent? Possible, but he doubts it. (the winner of this fight is the opponent he wants to most see vs. Wlad)

- If Mayweather-Pacquiao is on May 2, when would Cotto-Alvarez be? Still does not think Mayweather-Pacquiao gets made, but if it does, Cotto-Alvarez would likely be in June (assuming that gets made as well). He admits that he has been on the negative side throughout all the talks regarding Mayweather-Pacquiao.

- He is pessimistic based on past negotiations as well as current info he is hearing.

- To make May 2 happen, they would realistically need to agree early February.

- Espinoza swears he is okay with Haymon taking Showtime fights and putting them on NBC. Espinoza says that Moonves was okay with fighters being on NBC and supported it. Espinoza has some credibility, it is possible Haymon could do a time buy with CBS and rumor is he could do one with Spike TV later this year.

- No one will answer how Haymon is recouping all his money he puts out to make this NBC deal. He is putting out a lot of cash and how he gets a return is unclear (the $20 million a year over 2 years is really other investors money). Haymon is brilliant, so he obviously has a plan to make this all work.

- Mayweather and Pacquiao are closer in negotiations than they ever have been.

- ODH wants to make Matthysse-Provodnikov happen. It still needs to get made though.

- Lundy missed weight, refused to try to lose any more and started to rehydrate. Petrov declined to make an agreement to have the fight go on. Sources say Lundy will be suspended by the commission.

- In the short term he thinks that Golden Boy takes a hit from the settlement with Haymon, in the long term he could be better off.

- Stiverne by KO over Wilder.

- Canelo is not bluffing when he says he is looking into other opponents besides Cotto for May 2.

- Mayweather-Cotto 2 is very possible.

- He has been very impressed with Amir Imam and he is a good prospect.

- He talked with Algieri's lawyer last night, nothing going on for an Algieri fight vs. Terrence Crawford right now.

- Monroe Jr vs. Vera? Monroe Jr. on points.

- Froch-JCC could get made before his issues with TR are settled. They could make the fight and force TR to seek a restraining order, which are very rarely given.

- He doesn't care what anyone says, the keys to making the fight are with Mayweather and between Showtime and HBO at this moment.

- Doubts that Bradley vs. Alvarez is likely for May 2. In the future it is very possible.

- Regarding the Haymon-NBC fights he was told that Guerrero is getting $2.5 million. All the purses are high compared to what they would probably receive on HBO or Showtime.

- RJJ is 46 today.

- Doubtful that Khan-Brook happens anytime soon.

- Not sure Andre Ward gets back into the ring quite as soon as April.

- Roc Nation officials tell him they never offered Broner $40 million.

- If Mayweather-Cotto were to happen, he believes it would be at a catch weight, not the full 160 lbs.

- No site announced for Garcia-Peterson, some discussion of Brooklyn.

- There is no middleweight he would favor over GGG.

- Better resume - Wilder or Joshua? Wilder.

- Possibility Quillin could face Andy Lee April 11th on the Garcia-Peterson undercard.

I'd seriously favor his shadow to beat him lol.

As for CaneLOL, smfh, he ripped the diva title right out of Cotto's hands. Young ginger needs to realize everyone is just waiting on Mayweather and Pacquiao to either make an announcement that they are fighting or not. If they don't, you can have Cotto on May 2nd, if they do fight, sit ur ass down and realize no fight is any bigger.

Showtime & HBO Working On Joint PPV For Mayweather-Pacquiao
January 14, 2015

Al Haymon right hand man Sam Watson indicates that Showtime and HBO are working plans out for a joint venture on May 2nd for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather is under contract with Showtime and Pacquiao is with HBO.

It's been reported that Pacquiao has sign the contract to fight Mayweather and also agreed to the 60/40 purse split/drug testing.

"They are putting it together now." Watson said. "They are going to do a joint Pay-per-view like they did the last time with Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis. They are working on the money now and everything they've got to work on to make it happen. I can't wait, It's going to be huge."

Rigondeaux calling out the bum killer again, let's see what he does no excuses he'll obviously have a clear schedule after tomorrow night...

By Ryan Burton

Last week WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion champion Guillermo Rigondeaux and his team were in New York to attend Roc Nation's debut boxing event.

While in New York, Team Rigondeaux met up with WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman and spoke about a potential unification bout with WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.

According to Caribe Promotions' Vice President Louis Fonseca, Sulaiman is very interested in having that fight take place provided Santa Cruz takes care of business Saturday night against Jesus Ruiz.

"Rigo wants to wish Santa Cruz the best of luck Saturday night so that he can fight him next. The fans want to see that fight. Rigondeaux's last fight in Japan was very exciting and a fight against Santa Cruz is must see TV. Santa Cruz needs to step up his competition in 2015 and give the fans what they want," Fonseca told BoxingScene.com.

wow. As stupid as that is though, wth is Cotto doing man? That fight should've been a slam dunk. Canelo seems like a pretty easy dude to negotiate with.

Two things:

1. Canelo wants them to sign the contract for MAY 2nd, which is obviously the date Mayweather Pacquiao will be if they fight. Cotto simply doesn't want to sign yet for that date until he finds out if they are fighting or not. Obviously fighting on the same date would be retarded.

2. Conspiracy theory - Cotto and Mayweather have already agreed to fight each other on May 2nd. There was no intention of fighting Canelo and there was no intention of fighting Pacquiao for Floyd.

If that's the case, that is pretty silly for Canelo. Let me guess, he's going to fight Lemieux or Bradley? Make a shred of what he'd make against Cotto? People will watch Cotto/Canelo on any date, even the week after Pac/May if it happens.

I obviously hope that Pacquiao/Floyd happens, but I wonder what the backlash will be if Floyd doesn't sign? Or, if this fight is killed with the HBO/Showtime negotiations, Floyd could just walk away and fight Cotto and say it wasn't his fault and he "really wanted the fight like everyone else."

HBO has to know that Showtime is losing money like crazy and desperately needs this fight. There's a lot of really smart businessmen involved in that negotiation though, I really hope that's now what kills the fight.

yeah that's why Canelo just needs to fucking WAIT a week or two and find out. If Mayweather Pacquiao happens, Canelo vs Cotto can fight June 13 in New York for the Puerto Rican parade which is obviously huge as well. Nelo needs to drop this obsession of fighting on May 2nd...he's not going to fight on that date if Floyd-Pac happens I don't know why the young ginger can't fucking accept that. If they don't fight, sure fight on May 2nd all you want, but this is obviously the one fucking fight that's bigger than any Mexican holiday.
