man, I'm done with Kirkland. I'm tired of waiting for this dude to reach his potential. He's spent more time making stupid headlines than winning fights in the last 5 years. Never even won a damn title.

100% agree with this...

not far from done with him tho, love to see kirkland bang in there. I just wont be on the lookout for him anymore.

First time I seen this, nasty KO!

18 Year Old, Anne Wolfe Trained, Travell Mazion 8-0, 8kos. Kid is a 6'0+ 140 fighter with good foot speed and jab. Has some work to do on defense, but he looks promising.
It;s crazy how the body spasms and goes into shock when people get knocked out. It's like they are stiff as a board or move in some involuntary way. I know everyone saw the vid from a long time ago when dude got knocked out and was still punchin, lol. This reminds me of that somewhat.

I believe that. The only problem would be GGG next fight is in july I think. But Chavez and TR would def squash beef if Chavez fights in Mex Indy Day cuz more than likely it can hurt Sho n Floyds pockets big time. And if its in LA... WOW!

He didnt sign with haymon...im thinking sergio and jr going to call each other out after the cotto fight if not its jr and ggg on september...watch
Nope. Sergio isn't going to 168 and Chavez is going down to 160.

And yes Haymon has been talking with Chavez. He hasn't signed but they've been talking.

So I like to remind people Haymon has been involved in a few decent fights that never happened:

Stevenson vs Kovalev
GGG vs Chavez
Mayweather vs Pacquiao

Just sayin

Could Richard Schaefer be collateral damage in the Cold War?

Richard Schaefer Golden Boy Promotions oscar de la hoya By Robbie Bannatyne: There has much been speculation recently about the internal conflict within Golden Boy Promotions, said to be the result of fissures in the relationship between Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer. At the same time, rumours also abound that De La Hoya has made attempts to bury the hatchet with Bob Arum by going to meet the Top Rank boss at his house recently.

Regardless of whether Bob Arum and Oscar De La Hoya make peace and decide to re-establish a working relationship, the issue between the feuding television networks Showtime and HBO is still not resolved. Still, if De La Hoya and Bob Arum could recapture the bond that was broken throughout their conflict it would certainly be a step in the right direction.

However, Golden Boy’s CEO Richard Schaefer’s appears to the major stumbling block as he has stated repeatedly that he will not do business with Bob Arum.

Schaefer does not seem to care that the Cold War is having a damaging impact on the sport, making it prohibitive to put on great fights for the fans. In fact, he actively encourages the divisive conflict and probably would love nothing more than to bury Bob Arum’s Top Rank in a crudely rendered coffin, on an unmarked grave.

‘I met with Bob Arum to bury the hatchet,’ De La Hoya said. ‘There is a lot of great fights that can be made.’

The only place Richard Schaefer wants to bury the hatchet, though, is in Bob Arum’s back.

Richard Schaefer has repeatedly stated that he would not even entertain the thought of working with Bob Arum, far less actually establish an effective and meaningful dialogue to end the feud that has deprived the fans of fights they really want to see. It seems Richard Schaefer’s purpose of putting on major boxing events and world championship prizefights plays subordinate to his passion of trying to destroy Top Rank. On the contrary, the stubbornness and greed of Bob Arum is just as much to blame for the Cold War as Schaefer’s bitterness toward the Top Rank boss. But it appears Bob Arum wants to usher the water under the bridge, whereas Schaefer wants to take Top Rank into even deeper water so he can drown Arum’s promotional company.

Thankfully, Golden Boy Promotions is not Schaefer’s company. De La Hoya should call his bluff and start working with Bob Arum regardless of Schaefer objections. After all, there are many more bright business minds out there who could take over the mantle as GBP CEO from Schaefer. The loss of a Swiss Banker to boxing would hardly be an earth shattering event, would it? Not many boxing fans would mourn his loss. But De La Hoya’s bank balance may be weeping as he would probably have to dip into his $200 million personal fortune to buy out the remainder of Schaefer’s contract, which is rumored to run through to 2017- although this has not been confirmed.

If De La Hoya and Schaefer do repair their relationship, and he continues to work for Golden Boy Promotions, then he must learn to put aside his personal animus towards Bob Arum in order to protect the health of boxing.

Yet Schaefer seems to have world domination in mind. The former banker smells blood and wants to go in for the kill where Bob Arum’s Top Rank is concerned.

Although if Oscar De La Hoya drops the bombshell on Schaefer that he is going to rekindle his relationship with Bob Arum, then it could be Schaefer who ends up being the collateral damage of the ‘Cold War’. If this was the case, then the end would certainly justify the means by my estimation.

george groves david price By Daniel Hughes: Whatever happens with George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) fight against IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (32-2, 23 KO’s) on May 31st at Wembley Stadium, he has a very exciting road ahead of him. The announcement this week of Groves signing with Sauerland promotions certainly raised a few eyebrows in British boxing circles.

Groves 27, admitted earlier in the week that it could be viewed as a gamble. If that is the case it could prove to be a calculated one from the Hammersmith born fighter and his new German promoters. It could well turn out to be a very shrewd signing the German public love their boxing. The fans enjoy supporting German based boxers regardless of their nationality it will open up a new fanbase for Groves. The financial muscle of the German promoters not to be underestimated or the love for boxing the German public has.

The choices and promoters looking to sign the London born fighter had been many, especially as his stock has risen since the first Froch fight. Groves’ name will certainly be in the mix for future big fights at 168lbs.The choice to go with Sauerland meaning he will be signing with the powerful German promotional team that are certainly no strangers in maximizing the exposure of the talent on their books. For Groves to have signed the financial side will no doubt of been good, very good in fact. Sauerland of course have recently signed Liverpool, UK heavyweight David Price (17-2, 15 KO’s) in a move that would be seen as make or break, but a financially sound one for the 30 year old heavyweight.

The fact that UK fighters are willing to travel abroad to Europe and not just of course abroad for the quality of gyms and training camps in the USA should be viewed as a positive. The experience of being out of your comfort zone learning a new language and living in a different country throws up its challenges. Boxing is about developing, learning and adapting in the ring what you have practiced in the gym. The fighter that stands still, in fact goes backwards the choice of many fighters to box away from their own home country is a financial migration that is mandatory for fighters from the poorest parts of the world.

The choices for both Groves and Price could have been to stay with the comforts of home promotion. The easy route is to stay with what you know and familiar surroundings. The need to challenge yourself as a fighter surely makes it a good move when so many become complacent and stale.

Cotto says 159 lb. catch-weight was Sergio Martinez’s teams idea

Cotto Martinez Cotto vs. Martinez sergio martinez miguel cotto By Dan Ambrose: Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31 KO’s) is saying that it wasn’t him that came up with the idea of fighting at a catch weight of 159 lbs. for his fight against WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KO’s) on June 7th. Cotto says it was Martinez’s promoter Sampson Lewkowitcz that floated the idea, and they just went with what he said.

“That came from Sampson,” Cotto said in talking about 159lb catch-weight. “The first thing he said when we sat at the table was, ‘Sergio can’t run like before anymore and he wants to make his weight. He’s not going to be able to do less than 159 pounds.’ That was a petition from them, not us.”

It’s very difficult to believe that Sampson would have brought up the idea of a catch weight handicap that benefits Cotto and hurts Martinez without hearing first that Cotto’s team wanted the handicap. Why would Sampson do that? It doesn’t make sense at all unless he was asked about it by someone else in Cotto’s team.

Catch-weight or no, it’s going to be a very difficult fight for Cotto to win because his game is geared for the smaller fighters that let him bang on the inside, and Martinez isn’t a small guy, and he doesn’t fight on the inside. Before Martinez suffered knee injuries in back to back fights, Cotto had shown no interest in fighting him. But after the injuries, he suddenly showed interest in facing him.

Does Cotto want to fight Martinez because he thinks he can’t move around the ring like he used to when he had two healthy legs, or does he want to fight him because he’s now 39-years-old and has been out of the ring for over a year?

In talking about how he was beaten by a fighter the same size as Sergio in Austin Trout in 2012, Cotto said “You have Austin Trout, who is a younger fighter who has a lot of mobility and his style. You have Sergio Martinez, who is not a young guy. He has a couple of issues with his knees.”
So in other words, Cotto will be able to beat Sergio because he’s old and has knee problems? That’s what it seems like Cotto is saying. I wonder if Cotto would have agreed to fight Sergio if he was young with two good knees?

Rapper T.I. took a swing at Floyd Mayweather Jr. and it caused a chair-tossing brawl in the Fatburger on the Vegas Strip early Sunday morning ... TMZ has learned ...

According to several witnesses ... Floyd was eating inside the restaurant when T.I. walked up and started jawing at Floyd.

It's unclear what caused the beef, but we're told T.I. swung at Floyd ... their giant bodyguards jumped in to separate them ... and then the all out melee began.

At one point you hear Floyd telling at T.I., "control your bitch."

Vegas PD arrived just as Floyd was leaving and we're told T.I. was already gone.
Police confirm a Fatburger employee was slashed and suffered a minor injury during the fight, but he refused treatment and did not want to cooperate with investigating officers. In other words ... no snitching.

A rep for T.I. had no comment about the fight.

Finally a positive video of Broner for a change:

Damn so this dude was robbed of all the money shortly after the video went viral. He said everyone on the streets seen the video and knew he had money, everyone kept asking for some. Daid he only spent about $30 and was gonna use the money to get an apartment and try and get his life back on track. Said some dude struck him in the back of the head, then his eye (it's hella fucked up). I guess what we learn from this is if you're gonna do a good deed, you don't need to make a video of it.
