this isnt really even debatable.........I love Walter Payton, he was one the best guys to ever play the game. an on top of that he was beyond great on the feild.......but Jim Brown IS the best football player ever, let alone fullback. you ask ANYONE who actually watched him play an they will let you know. he had jerry rice typa numbers back in the sixties.. shit he is still top 10 in scoring to this day an he aint been on the field since 1965. an 5.2 yards a carry is CRAZY. 2 touches an you have a first down, that is if he didnt take it to the house on one of them

now about the linebackers being 180. the best linebackers played back then. Butkus, Nitchky(sp), Lanier. an there wasnt as many rules back then. they are getting punched in the face as they run, kicked on the ground, etc... the game was ALOT ruffer back in the days

There were some great linebackers back in the day but you have to admit the speed and size of the players back in the 50s/60s is no where near 80s/90s/present day.

Hands down, Walter Payton Greatest Running Back of All Time, he was stronger, faster, more athletic and smarter than Brown. Plus, Jim Brown played when it was mostly all white people in the NFL. It's like saying Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest basketball player because he scored 100 points against ten 5'8" white guys. CLOSE THIS THREAD IMMEDIATELY!
