the note to me, is way too big to be used as a daily driver phone. I've seen Fools take them out of their pockets to answer a call, and it looked ridiculous. The specs are top notch though

I've been rollin' with the Kyocera Rise on Virgin Mobile since December.

I got tired of all touch screen, as well as Verizon's ridiculous monthly payments, so this was the best no-contract phone with a physical keyboard when I got it.

I just rooted it the other day, but the phone doesn't have any custom ROMs for it. I think that's because the Android community hasn't been able to get past the bootloader or something. Kinda disappointing, but I was able to tweak some stuff with Pimp My Rom and it seems to be running better now than it was before rooting.

I'll keep going with this phone until VM releases a better phone with a physical keyboard.

Ive had nothing but Samsung phones for the last 4+ years, I am due to upgrade and was gonna just swoop up the S4, but I went in to check out what else was out and I never ever ever ever thought I would like an LG phone but I like the G2 alot more than the S4. There are pros and cons to both, not sure what I am going to pick up yet. I dont root my phones or anything like that, but I have been reading how LG is terrible about updating android on their phones ( aka they never do ) where Samsung has always been good about it, maybe not the fastest but they do update it. I know the S5 is coming out early next year but I dont need the latest and greatest, I still got more time, going to go in and check out both phones again.

Nexus 4 = LG
Nexus 5 = LG

Both are ahead of any other manufacturer when it comes to updating.
This is true but these are phones built to Google's specs and are their flagship phones ( also nicely free of carrier bloat ware ) LG has a terrible track record with non Nexus phones.

Both the S4 and G2 will get android 4.4, my question is will LG update the G2 past that?

Nexus 5 and G2 are two best mainstream phones out currently.

Not opinion but fact and this was written from an S4. Note 3 will be best but considering it is the size of a laptop that makes sense.

At this point note should throw out ARM technology and get an i5 like surface pro 2.

the note 3 is a great phone and really its not much larger than the S4...its still large but its worth having the screen real estate...and i feel this phone will last a good while before feeling outdated...still a better decision than an iphone

lol @ putting an i5 in a Note - its battery life (which is one of its best features) will take a big hit. its not worth it.

and the N5 is dope but i was disappointed to see that its battery life is wildly inconsistent and its camera sucks. this is to be expected when you have to cut corners to achieve a $350 price point.

the G2 is excellent spec-wise but in terms of industrial design its ehhhhh....not to mention LG's interface skin is an abomination. i don't think those back buttons will make a return in the G3. at least LG had the balls to do something different though.

in terms of Android i'd argue the Moto X is still better in terms of a "mainstream" consumer-friendly phone as opposed to the N5. in terms of the best mainstream phone period? the iPhone still holds that crown.

The new iPhone is the only phone on the market that uses 64-bit architecture...which was engineered by Samsung, funny enough.

I refuse to by a new phone until it encompasses the same architecture. 64-bit computing opens up all kinds of new avenues. Samsung will be the next major corporation to have 64-bit phones.

MotoX's battery will last you at LEAST 24 hours with above average use. Its pretty amazing. That alone is worth the price. However, it gets there becuase the tech specs arent "top notch", so its not being drained by a beefy CPU, GPU, and screen.
